My New Grill. Can't wait to throw on some good ole' meat. Nothing like some tasty beef burgers and ribs on a Fall afternoon while watching Football.

I am jealous! That looks like a real nice one. I've always loved grilled food, but now that I'm starting to grill myself, it's even more fun. Chicken, burgers, steak, carne asada, hot dogs, you name it!

I can't wait to get it in. It should arrive tomorrow. It even has 2 lights that come on when you open it up, making it easier to grill in low lighting conditions or at night.

P.S. Putting it together will not be fun.

I love the convenience of a gas grill.... but when I had it I loved my Weber kettle grill. For 90 bucks there wasn't anything better.

What brand is it?

I want a Weber Summit, we don't get anything else decent over here, so not a lot of choice if you want something really good.

I dont cook enuf to bother with a grill, but a friend who does says it's always worth the $50 or so the store charges to put the damn thing together.

Well, when you guys grow up and properly regress to a charcoal burning grill, you can truely say you are grilling out. While using propane, you are just cooking over a fire, outside.

Nothing tastes as good as food cooked over the coals...except maybe food smoked using coals and hardwood.

But, good looking grill none-the-less.

My Mother bought my Dad (who would probably eat a rat if it came off the grill) the Big Green Egg for his 54th birthday. It's a pretty awesome piece of grilling technology. It's based on ceramics and the charcoal heats up almost as fast as a gas grill.

Traeger this one is the "Big Tex" I believe.
Not cheap, but I've seen it in use and it cooks so evenly and holds a good temperature for a long time making it good for ribs.

I just bought a gas grill like the OP just did but when I get into my new house my plan is to get the Green Egg. They are really heavy so I didn't get it yet since I would have to move it again anyway. But man the food that comes off one of these things is just awesome. It even has a cult following if you believe that there is a forum out there that just talks about things they cook on their Green Eggs.

Grill

I've always thought that "broil" was the American word for "grill", but does "grill" over there mean "barbecue (v)"?

I don't hear the world "broiled" used much at all where I am. "Grill" and "barbecue" is generally the same thing and can be used interchangeably, the only caveat being that "barbecue" generally means using either a gas or charcoal grill while "grilled" can also mean electric griddles. The end result is typically rather similar, though the actual barbecue is generally a bit better and certainly more authentic.

Broil is a setting on my oven. It is used to apply high heat, from above, to whatever you're cooking.

Grilling is over a fire or coals.

But, I'll guess that the literal definition of broil involves cooking with high, radient heat.

You can get them online or at a hardware store. Fairly inexpensive.

However, when I invested in a new grill a few years ago, I decided to take advantage of the fact that I have natural gas connected to my house. I elected to buy one very similar to the one the Thread Starter has, however I special ordered it with the natural gas kit. I called my neighbor who has a plumbing business to tap into my gas line and run one to my deck. There are three wonderful benefits to this.

1, the obvious, never ever again will I have to get a tank filled or overpay the Blue Rhino guys because the tank ran dry with $30 worth of two steaks on the grill..

2, the best hidden benefit, that when the power is out, I can just about cook anything I need on the grill because the gas keeps running. When a tornado hit a half mile from my house here a few years ago, while the power was off I cooked eggs and bacon on my grill on my deck as I watched TN (at the time) Governor Phil Bredesen fly over the damage in a military helicopter. Power was off for days but I could still cook!

3, Natural Gas cooks WAY hotter than propane. The first few grillings I just about burnt everything. I can see 800-900 degrees easily on the temp gauge when all is at full blast. Propane just won't do that. Makes grate cleaning easy and searing a breeze if you remember to turn it down..

Anyway, enjoy the grill! I like the light idea. Mine has no such feature...

Nice grill. Dont forget to have the second propane tank filled and always on standby. Get a good cover too.

Had mine about 6 years and while its good, as someone mentioned above, I'm now investing in a smoker. Yummy yum yum

I did get a cover so I hope that will keep it in pretty decent shape. I do need to invest in a 2nd propane tank though!

Depends on the part of the US. All over the US, "broil" is what you do in the oven.

In some parts of the US, "barbecue" and "grill" mean the same thing. Other places, barbecue is ONLY referred to as the specific type of preparation and cooking and flavoring of the meat. Doesn't matter if you barbecue the chicken, if it doesn't have BBQ sauce and the other makings for real BBQ, then its not a barbecue.

Mr. Harlot got a really good Weber grill a few years ago. It's got a rotisserie on which we have cooked chickens, turkey and prime rib - all of which were delicious. We've cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner on it. It has a smoker box, and we had never smoked meat before, so this was new - and really good. It also has a large grilling surface and a side burner. We cook on that thing all summer long. I even baked a cake in it one time when it was really hot out.
