That's nothing, I used to work in the IT side of Direct Marketing and was tasked with writing software to filter out data that was considered to contain "swear words". Consequently we never sent junk mail to anyone who lived in Scunthorpe (think about it...and look closely!!).

Now is a certain town in Austria subject to a similar ban? If not, then someone in Effing really ought to raise some sand. Meanwhile, Facebook has allowed a page for Feckin Irish Whiskey......

When I worked at the ATM control center for a big-ass bank (OK, the same big-ass bank I'm still working for), we were in the midst of rolling out the shnazzy new envelope-free (EF) ATM's...there was a lot of data that had to be manually copied into each ATM's entry in the mainframe database to signify that the ATM was now an EF unit; and I got tired of all the human errors that were gumming it up, so I wrote a script to take the info for a given EF ATM straight out of an Excel/Access file and copy it into the mainframe. I called the script "EF-It."

I didn't even get in trouble.

Reminds me of the titles once given to management in RTE, the national broadcaster. There was the unfortunately-named Head of Light Entertainment, who was known by his acronym behind his back. And, even more unfortunately, his assistant had the prefix "Ass" added to the title.

When I worked for a bank and customers were opening savings accounts which they could nickname, the only word we weren't allowed to use was Scunthorpe.

This reminds me of the time when XBox banned a users account because he listed his location as "Fort Gay, WV" which is a real place. And there is a Wetwang, England? hahaha

The Germans love a good wank. There's another town called Wankum in North East Germany near the Dutch border.
