My purpose for this thread was the question. I reckon a picture thread will get more interest.

You're correct. It's the same model as my old car except it's been redesigned. It rides a little lower and the spare wheel is now inside, it's truly a crossover vehicle compared to the previous model. Anyway, when I choose a car it's for my needs rather than wants. Hey! maybe that's the next thread, "wants vs. needs".

Hahaha. Every time I see one of these I get in front of them and go full-throttle. My car targets a 9.8AFR when I do, and I shoot nasty black soot out of my exhaust right at the Prius. All while getting 5.6MPG or so!

The 2012 Buick I like all the features, especially the heated steering wheel, in the winter. I guess I don't ever use the child locks on the rear doors. I don't have children.

My 81 Ford F-100 doesn't have any features. No power steering, no power brakes, no A/C, AM Radio, 3 speed manual.

Sell it on ebay. I bought a new car in Ohio a few years ago so it had the front plate holder. I removed it and sold it on ebay. I also have been on the buyer end of that transaction when I lived in a state with front plates and my car didn't have a holder.

Either there's something's wrong with your car or you were driving very fast.

A Mustang 5.0 can do about that. Heck, I got 24-25 mpg on an all-highway run on my old '89 Caprice.

I got better than that on my 00 Grand Marquis and 08 Lincoln Town Car, not much better, but those were much bigger cars.

I would, but they drill it into the bumper and it leaves holes if you take it out. I lived in California when I bought it, and recently switched plates when I moved back to Oklahoma. It's not the number 1 priority in my life at this point to change that. But I will think about it.

In my case, my state does not require one if there isn't a plate bracket attached. However, I had the dealer install one because I wanted a front plate. Heck, I paid extra for a specialty plate so I might as well have both.

Thanks! I too like the 6GC, but having had a BMW 550 and 740 as the 2 most recent cars, and currently having an SUV in the household, the decision was made to get something UNpractical this time around. Also, the M6 in GC form is not yet available here in the states, or at least not yet being delivered as far as I am aware. This car was surprisingly on the lot for a week, I did not order it. Most of them seem to get snapped up immediately (at least here in Dallas), but fortunately for me this one was available. I think the issue with it was that it has every option (other than the active cruise control, which I would never use) and the price was accordingly quite a step up over base. I suspect most M car buyers prefer to special order their cars with just what they want. I was happy to take this one! For what it is worth, however, I would not own one either at your Norwegian prices.

As it regards what features I do not use, it is too hard to tell this early. However, a feature I have not used at all on the last 3 cars I have owned is the AM/FM radio - and I mean never, ever use it. From before the car leaves the lot, the satellite radio is activated, and my iPhone is integrated. How anyone can stomach regular broadcast radio and the ridiculous commercials and DJ shenanigans is beyond me.

Yea what Devilfish said. They are called fog lights for a reason unless there is fog or at least heavy rain. I find it more often with trucks and SUVs especially when I am driving something other than my truck but fog lights are very annoying and distracting when someone behind you is driving with them on or on the other side of the road on a two lane road.
At least its not your brights, absolutely hate when people drive with their brights on.

My current ride is a 2002 VW Golf wagon. Bought it used about 6 years ago and still runs great. Now it has over 265000 km on the odometer. I used the trailerhitch it came with twice I think, the cig. lighter a few times, I prefer the taste my Zippo gives my cigarettes , but what I have never used -is the 3rd sunvisor.

On KaiGyver"s (Rep 53); thanks on polioce car lower doors black-out explanation. Makes good sense, although as an old retired designer/stylist I was conjuring up thoughts of some kind of exterior side impact add-on structure (too low on the bodyside of course), but my mind wanders.

flymia (Rep65); ain't that fog light b.s. the truth ! ? Espescially around here when the goobers don't bother to check the "aim". Almost as dangerous as Maude Friggard driving w/ brights on 24/7. Although I am gennerally opposed to new laws, maybe Officer KaiGywer could suggest a fine similar to driving WITHOUT any lights on at all during nightime (although that would probably result in a DUI). The kids around here think it's "cool" to have the fog lights on, although one is usually aimed at your rear view mirror and the other is aimed at an already expired oppossum (not George Jones).

2006 Ford Explorer. The least used feature so far (at least by me) is the 4WD. During the bad weather my wife ended up driving it more than I did because her commute is farther than mine (40 miles vs 6). It's a great car, other than the sucky mileage (averaging 15-18mpg), but rides great, has good pickup for a heavy V6 and has a nice, if hacked stereo set up.

Least used feature on the Soul is the rear window deicer (since I live in Phoenix). Most annoying feature is the squeaky (fold down) rear seat hinges! But 28 mpg in mostly urban driving (usually with the AC running) is nice. Filling the gas tank is only needed 3 times a month.

No idea, I'm more confused about the bin-liners on the front of the car to be honest. That surely cannot be standard? Very strange.

My understanding of a CVT is that it essentially has an infinite number of gear ratios, as such you cannot say it has high or low gears?

It's a geat car, other than the sucky mileage (averaging 15-18mpg)

I love when big V-6 (or V-8) cars get better gas mileage then me. Just doing my part to help the environment!

Most annoying feature is the squeaky (fold down) rear seat hinges!

Really? The most annoying feature isn't the looks????

Here is my car "AJ" after a nice wash and buff.

You left a lot of nasty black crap all over the front of the car.... :p

Quoting idealstandard (Reply 86):
That surely cannot be standard?

Nope, it's just a bra to protect the front from rocks/debris. They're hideous, but incredibly effective. The alternative is a clear, vinyl wrap.

My understanding of a CVT is that it essentially has an infinite number of gear ratios, as such you cannot say it has high or low gears?

Yes, your understanding is correct. A CVT uses two cone-shaped pieces with a belt between them. The cones move relative to one another to create, as you said, an infinite number of ratios.

Would rather have a touch up before i sell the car and not have to look at that. It looks absolutely awful, and would ruin any car.

What's with the bin liners / pallet wrap attached to the front of the car?

It's called a front-end bra or mask. I use it in the winter and early spring as there is residual sand, salt and rocks left over from the winter when roads are sanded and salted for icing conditions.

Which is fine and dandy, but this is padded and made of leather. When the rocks kick up, especially with my car, it not only leads to chips and dings, but with the amount of salt and whatnot used on the roads, the metal is left vulnerable. I do not have a garage or driveway and thus cannot always do touch-up work or wash the salt off in a timely manner. Sorry you don't like it, I happen to like the look of it (as long as it is kept well), and it sure as hell is better looking than a front bumper and hood that is chipped all over the place. I am protecting my vehicle from winter's wrath here in the NY area, especially with my commute which is 50-60 miles per day.

Yes, you are correct, however there are 3 different drive modes to select from: D, S, L. I only use D, and can only count on one hand how many times I have used the other two. Using the term "lower gears" was my bad as it doesn't accurately reflect what I was trying to say, however here is the drive mode selection for the car, I only use D:

Sometimes on a long downhill grade I downshift to a lower gear, from D to 3.

I do not like car bras for two reasons: firstly they trap dirt/rocks/debris which will marr up the clearcoat/paint leading to areas which are more worn looking than others. The second is the bra shields all UV rays so the paint which is covered by the bra will look different when the bra is removed compared to the paint that was not covered. The bra sort of creates a "tan line" for lack of better term especially when left on for most of the time the car is driven. A 3M vinyl film is (more expensive) but much more asthetically pleasing and better for the paint in my opinion.

Agreed on the negatives, which is why I do not leave it on year-round and thoroughly clean the side which is making contact with the surface of the vehicle on a very regular basis to ensure it is not trapping the sand/salt/dirt under it and rubbing it into the finish. My car has no tan line and no scuffing

I have seen the 3M film before and noticed that it had yellowed over time (the 2 cars that I saw had it for about 2 or 3 years by that point and were in Texas so much stronger sun than in NY). Not sure if that was a quirk that I saw or if the product can/will yellow.

Ok, so I posted my office, well, here's my personal vehicle last Sunday (still early in the day, ended up with 17 inches snowfall in one day)
