Superbowl Picks 2014?

Fri Aug 16, 2013 3:17 pm

With the start of the NFL season just weeks away, who are your picks for the 2014 Superbowl? I hope the 49ers bring home the Vince Lombardi trophy! I hope the Cowgirls dont win a single game!

I think it will be Denver or New England. I will put Denver as my choice since I think Brady and Company are too exposed on offense.

New England

Didn't they lose some of their experienced receivers? And Gronkowski is injured. Hernandez is in jail...

I thought it would be more a transition season for them. But I'm really not an expert in American football. I'm more a "casual" viewer

I'm biased but I'm going with New England. From what I've seen so far, the running game will be even better than last year with healthy young backs and a bruiser like Blount added, and the young receivers and Amendola will make up for the loss of Welker and that scumbag whose ass is parked in a jail cell. If the Pats get exposed anywhere, it will be the fact that their cornerbacks still aren't all that good.

Well, the theory goes that they actually have a defense this year. So their young offense will have time to Rally around Brady. The Bills and the Jets are in complete rebuild this year, and Miami isn't looking so Hot. So from that perspective the East should be theirs in the AFC.

Everyone here in Seattle has already given the Lombardi Trophy to the Seahawks. I'm excited about their chances but am not quite ready to just hand it to them before the first snap of the season. I think the fortunes of Seattle, San Francisco and Washington are going to be determined by how the defensive co-ordinators around the league have come up with ways to stop the read option. Seattle is a little less dependent on it than the other two teams IMO. And there's the injury question as well - that plays a bigger part in football than most other sports. It's what makes trying to pick a Super Bowl champ this early so hard. So I'll pick a few favorites:
Seattle
Atlanta
Denver
Green Bay

From what I'm seeing so far, they've kept all the young receivers they drafted and have let go of some of the mid-term veterans they pulled in during the off season and have not called back any of the long-term vets that are available as free agents. As a Pats fan, it's pretty encouraging. The reason Welker got used so much was that none of the wideouts were good targets, and I think that's changing.

The offense will be fine. Main issues will be defense against the pass. They need to improve at pass rushing and at cornerback.

Why the hell was ESPN saying the Bengals are going to win? As a cincinnatian, and knowing the Bengals' history, we all know that's a loooooong shot

Wow - you don't even capitalize the name of your home town!

PS: Glad Green-Ellis (also known as BJGE, Bennie, or Law Firm) is working out well for you guys.

Well Okie's are kind of tied geographically to the Cowboys but I must say there has been very little and I mean little on the local media of any hype coming out of the Dallas camp.
Does not sound good or there is too many unknowns for anybody to make much of an assessment.

Thanks for reminding me, I should have included Houston in my favorites list. Now if you'll just replace the 49'ers with the Seahawks in your pick, we'll be just fine.......

Seahawks, Texans, even Denver perhaps. All three teams have ex-Badgers on them so I wish all three teams the best. As a Vikings fan I've completely given up on any chance of a superbowl.

Seahawks picked up some amazing talent in the off season and no one should be doubting Russel Wilson at QB anymore. Denver picked up Monte Ball in the draft and I think he will develop into an amazing RB for 1st - 3rd downs. His performance at Wisconsin speaks for itself. And to finish off, JJ Watt and the Texans have a pretty awesome defense. I recommend everyone try to pick up Watt for their fantasy teams...iirc he lead the league in sacks.
So we beat on against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

I hope the Texans at least make it   I'd be happy.

I hope J.J. Watt has an even better year than last year. He is indeed, a "badass"
Running game should be good, plus good d-line. Receivers good, but can Schaub step-up to the next level?
