I don't watch all that much TV anymore, but....

Seinfeld
Family Guy
South Park
Modern Family
The Shield (though I only ever saw the 1st season)
Star Trek: TNG
ER (probably moreso the early seasons)
Pawn Stars (OK, it's not a great show, but it's one of those shows I can have on in the background while I'm doing something else - interesting to glance at and see what cool stuff they get in the shop)

I also feel it necessary to list a few of my least favorite shows:
The Big Bang Theory (I just don't get why it's so popular....I generally fail to laugh whenever I watch it)
Two and a Half Men (ditto)
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

I really don't watch tv too much anymore, but this is the stuff I'll watch if it is on.

What, no love for Sons Of Anarchy around here?
http://www.studiosystemnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/sons-of-anarchy-season-6.jpg

It and Mad Men are my two favorite dramas on TV. My favorite comedy is Brickleberry. It's rude, crude, politically incorrect and socially unacceptable.

Malloy the bear makes Brian from "Family Guy" and Roger from "American Dad" look like Dino and Astro....

Since I'm not spending lots of time watching the telly, my 'experience' with TV shows is not huge.

In the far past, I used to enjoy Charlie's angels and Fame. More recently I've spent quite some time watching DVDs of SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.

I've been watching reruns a few times a week on Teletoon. Gotta keep my Archer knowledge up before the new season starts! I'll probably end up watching the second half of the previous season leading up to the first episode.

I'm not currently hooked on any TV shows, but "Everybody Loves Raymond" was my favorite comedy. I still enjoy watching the reruns and laugh my head off no matter how many times I've seen the show.

When anyone asks me why I find the show so appealing, I say "because that's MY family!!"

Indeed. This is the series that, along with Amazing Stories, revived interest in the horror/mystery/sci-fi anthology genre of TV shows, leading to Tales From The Crypt, The Outer Limits (the new version), The Twilight Zone (the new version), Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and Monsters

WKRP in Cincinnatti

I worked in small market radio before joining the Navy in 1972. That show was spot on perfect with the sterotype characters of Johnny Fever, Les Nessman and Herb Tarlek. I've known/ worked with several people who were exactly like those charaters.

Star Trek (the original series)

I was at the right age, and a science fiction fan that Star Trek was a dream come true.

Missing from the list

Night Court - especially the first two seasons

Sea Hunt - okay not great writing or fantastic acting - but a wonderful series for a pre-teen boy to watch.

And don't forget Friday the 13th, The Series.

I thought that had some good episodes, but it was clearly a Canadian production (nothing wrong with that, most TV is made there, but they didn't make much of an effort to mask it) and had low budgets. Some decent acting talent but never really written well, IMO.

LOVED the Outer Limits reboot too!! I need to do a marathon of these.

All-time favorite was The Honeymooners. While I am not quite old enough to have seen them when they first aired, they were re-run endlessly in the 70's and I know almost every line of the "original 39" episodes by heart. Gleason and Carney were the best comedy duo ever on TV, bar none. And lots of the stuff that made it on the air was ad-libbed since Gleason hated rehearsal. He' just show up for the live taping and if he forgot his line, he or the other cast members would just improvise since the show was broadcast live.

Other past favorites, in no particular order
Seinfeld
WKRP
Cheers
Wonder Years
Fawlty Towers
ER
LA Law
Scrubs

Don't watch much currently but I do enjoy these two

Off the top of my head:

Number Six is so

Epic.

Not usually a fan of zombies, but this one is neat.

A nice addition to US history.

It used to be better.

Quite fun. But needs more superheroes and Robin.

Funny. And it reminds me of myself sometimes.

A very enjoyable adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.

Simply amazing.

A little corny and completely over the top, but quite enjoyable.

Soapy and the lead actor doesn't quite fit, but it's a nice twist on the Dracula story.

Great pilots, but could go a lot deeper into the issues it picks up. Also, I'd like it even better if it was closer to Asimov's Caves of Steel.

Current favourite:

Big Bang Theory

Down through the years, oldest first:

CHiPS (when I was about ten!)
Hart to Hart
Blackadder - still brilliant after all these years, particularly Series 4 - Blackadder Goes Forth
Yes Minister
Yes Prime Minister
Moonlighting
Allie McBeal
The West Wing ...
and (I can't believe no-one has mentioned this one already!) ...

Buffy The Vampire Slayer - probably the best written of them all, the one which launched dozens of Sci-Fi imitators, but none has really ever come close

Others I loved:

Monty Python (before my time, when it first came out, but still brilliant after all these years)
The A Team
Knight Rider
Fawlty Towers
The Two Ronnies
Morecambe & Wise
The Fast Show (one of the finest comedy sketch shows of recent years.)

I am currently watching series 1 of Kojak. I get the feeling you would like seeing all the cars in that show.

Surprised that no one has mentioned "24" and only one or two have listed "The Sopranos". Both top-list in MHO, however I do shy away from getting "hooked" on a continuing series that you pretty much have to watch in its' entirety to follow what's going on.

Lots of goodies that you folks have mentioned that I agree with. Some I do not agree with. The list(s) would be too long and I'm entirely sure that I would forget and have to re-post.

But wait ! I guess I have something else to drivel...

No-buys...
"The Simpsons", "Beavis and Butthead"( and other sophomoric cartoonish inanity, irrespective of story line or messages).
"Airwolf"....really?
"Everybody Loves Raymond"...how long can you endure a voice that sounds like a REAL perpetual nasal problem?
"Criminal Minds"...specious...(right; fly around in a government jet to solve one problem). Montegna is a good actor - not so here.
"Hart To Hart"...well at least "Freeway" was cool (I love dogs). The show, again, a 'no-buy'.
"Charley's Angel's"...interesting but not good. I only recently became aware of my goofy little Cobra II Mustang was featured.
"Big Bang Theory"...and other (push-envelope) laugh-trak sitcoms, such as "Three and a half Men" are no-buys also.

Here's my old-age again....give me a Jackie Gleason or Three Stooges for honest laughs any day.

As far as current programming, you'll usually find me watching Michio Kaku or maybe even Rick Harrison (although "staged" as we all know) over most of the junk available. I might even watch "Mythbusters" or "Pumpkin Chunkin" for a break this weekend. ....jackj

The West Wing ...

Both brilliantly done.

I know three people who have actually worked in the White House - two Republicans (Reagan & Bush 2) and one Democrat (Clinton). They all say that West Wing was spot on about the frustrations about how hard it is to actually get anything important done in DC.

Two shows we watched while I was young that deserve mention are

The Ed Sullivan Show
The Red Skelton Show

ok - three
The Carol Burnett Show - the early seasons

Sullivan because of the huge range of his guest performers.

Skelton because he was always inventive, and funny - though him laughing at his own jokes before delivering the punch line was predictable.

Burnett's first couple seasons were brilliant.

I feel sorry for younger folks who never got to watch some of the good variety shows.

Now that I think - one which really broke the mold and shook up the country was

Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In

Doesn't work as well in reruns - but at the time it was pushing the limits of television.

To have a President candidate - a stiff as a board Richard Nixon - come on and say - "Sock it to Me?"

John Wayne and Tiny Tim in the same skit !!!
Not all who wander are lost.

And, I remember asking Mom and Dad "Who is Red Skeleton?" Skeleton? Then I found laughed about Gertrude and Ecliff.

Thanks for the memories. Maybe I have a few cells left after all. ....jack

When that show was on - my children watched every second.

They kept telling me that the show was truly and exactly what junior high was like.

They never believed me that the show was about MY junior high and high school years - with even the right music!!

The Kevin Arnold character was the same age as I was in the timeline of the show, so I really identified with the themes presented. Probably why I like it so much. I also had an old brother, older sister, a doting Mom and a gruff but well-meaning Dad.

He was great - appealed to all ages. There's no one like him nowadays that I can think of. "Good night, and may God bless" Mr. Skelton.
