Top Gun If Cougar Hadn't Lost The Edge.....

Fri Nov 29, 2013 2:36 am

My mind got wondering at work. Was thinking about Top Gun. What would've happened if Cougar hadn't lost the edge and turned in his wings. Would've Maverick and Goose have ended up staying on the ship and being in the CO's doghouse? Would've Maverick ended up flyin rubber dogs**t? Would've Cougar ended up dating Kelly McGillis? Any and all of your responses are welcome.

You came to the right place for answers.

Maverick and Goose stayed on the ship for a while manufacturing rubber dogsh*t in a coverted corner of the
hangar deck before being flown off directly to Hong Kong from which point they would transport the aforementioned fecal matter around the globe to wherever it was needed most.

Cougar continued flying the Tomcat until the squadron was re-equipped with the F18 which he considered to be a piece
of rubber dogsh*t and quit the Navy.

He did date Kelly Mcgillis for many years but the dream died when he discovered she was gay.

He now sings 'into the danger zone' at a dinner theater in Branson Missouri.

He was holding on too tight..

Shouldn't this be in "Military and Space" ?

MAX Q brilliant, you've just missed one bit out:

Whilst flying rubber dog s*** out of Hong Kong Goose remained happily married to his wife (played by the delightful Meg Ryan)
blissfully unaware that Maverick was slipping her a length on a regular basis.

And she sure as hell went down hill in the looks department when that happened.

Growing up in a brown shoe Navy town the movie was a joke. Tom Cruse's character was a jerk and would have been forced out long before.

She turned gay because Maverick's character was like Tom Cruise in real life.

Also, let's not forget Iceman and Slider.

Iceman dated and eventually married Penny Benjamin after they met during a chance encounter while at the base hospital. Penny was getting fitted for hearing aids due to Maverick's circus-stunt flyby over her (her father, the Admiral, was very upset about that).

During flight school, Iceman found out he and Cougar actually WERE brothers and they decided that whenever they retired from the Navy they would carry-on their real father's business which was a truck driving school named "Truck Masters". They have a large number of international trucking companies that hire drivers from Truck Masters and one of these is a Hong Kong-based company named Pooch Poo Transport and one of the items they ship is rubber dogs**t.

Slider was dishonorably discharged from the Navy following an arrest at his barracks after he was charged with posession of drug items (mainly sniffing model glue). His cellmate in Leavenworth requested a transfer to another cell because he complained Slider had horrendous body odor.

She turned gay because she wanted to be an example for Tom Cruise?

Maverick temporarily left the Navy to persue his dream of opening a karaoke bar - it failed miserably and was granted reenlistment. However his flying career took a massive hit as he was only permitted to fly subsonic aircraft.

Goose's post Navy career was more fruitful then Mav's as a very successful air-to-air photographer.

Iceman lost his cool when he was also discharged from the Navy for exceeding their weight limitations for flight.

Cougars career improved with the introduction of the X-47B where he never had to actually face the enemy.

Cougars RIO fell on hard times when he murdered his wife and was sentenced to life in prison. He escaped prison after 20 years and rumor has it he is now residing in Mexico with his former cell mate who was granted parole.

Slider, yea, he still stinks.

Maverick grew dissatisfied with flying fighters after being disciplined one too many times. He eventually began studies toward becoming a lawyer to combat his many disciplinary issues and found practicing law suited him, eventually joining the Naval JAG corps. He remained lazy however and was known for agreeing to plea deals most of the time to avoid any of the work associated with a trial. He was rather famously assigned to a case involving the death of U.S. Marine PFC William Santiago stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and during the trial of the Marine Sergeant accused of the murder he publicly and on-record goaded the commanding officer, Col. Nathan Jessup, into confessing to ordering the attack.

Following the conclusion of his Naval career he was recruited by the Memphis law firm Bendini, Lambert and Locke where he worked as an associate for less than a year before abruptly leaving and joining the Church of Scientology. He was once a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show for a segment on Scientology and had a nervous breakdown as his love for flying re-emerged and was taken away after an on-air incident where he viciously jumped up and down on the small couch on the set.

Goose took Maverick's decision to completely change his life to heart and began studying medicine, eventually becoming a naval physician. He later left the Navy and interned at the Emergency Department of Cook County Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, becoming Chief Resident there. During this time he was married, divorced, and married again, having a child with each woman. Regrettably, he developed a fatal brain tumor caused by his early, frequent exposure to excessive radiation from control tower radar flybys and passed away at the age of 38.

Not entirely his fault as sequestration severely curtailed fighter flight hours...and the Navy re-equipped with this... ...

Did you guys ever see the Saturday Night Live skit, where they had Val Kilmer on had him play Iceman working as an airline pilot.

Goose wouldn't have gotten kicked off the Tomcat, He would have just gotten a new pilot. The Navy didn't wed Tomcat crewman for life.
