Quoting N1120A (Reply 57): Canadians shouldn't be so quick to talk. Sure, you guys use liters and kilometers, but you still use plenty of feet, inches and pounds. My putative mother-in-law still knows F better than C. |
Old habits die hard, therefore may people use the old units that are illegal for many years. And many people, including young ones, use C for air temperature and F for water temperature.
Quoting N1120A (Reply 59): BTW, that's another funny Canadian thing. They pour beer in British (20 oz) pints. |
If we're lucky. Many new glasses are half liter now. Another funny fact is that our beer bottles hold 12 imperial fluid ounces - 341 ml, but we use American cans that hold 12 US fluid ounces - 355 ml.
Quoting PhilBy (Reply 58): Our 2001 diesel scudo van even managed 5l/100km 47 mpg(US) 56mpg(UK) over 1000km mostly autoroute with a full 750kg payload and consumes only a little more for conventional day-to-day use more lightly loaded. |
Yes, diesel engines from that era were very economical. Won't happen now due to current ecology requirements.
