Our Thoughts For Hercules (SA7700)

Dear community,

we have to inform you with great sadness that our good friend and head moderator Hercules (SA7700) passed away suddenly yesterday...

He has been a member since 2003 and he was well known, well respected.

As part of the crew he was always reaching out to the users and was of assistance for everybody.

He was a good friend to many of us.

What he did for the site and for many other users will never be forgotten.

We all do sincerly appreciate what he did for us.

Our condolences to his family!

May you rest in peace, Hercules.

Was a real shock to read a post from another Moderator on Facebook sending his RIP.

Hercules was a real down to earth person who really cared about people. If you got on his bad side or sent him a not so nice e-mail he would still remain calm and be nice back to you. When I first became a Moderator in 2012 he was an amazing help. Always available to advice and assistance. He really enjoyed looking at my recent holiday photos on facebook and was really looking forward to seeing the underwater photos I had taken while swimming with sharks/stingrays. I managed to upload them last night but sadly that was too late.

Hercules, you've been an amazing help and an amazing mentor to me and the other new Moderators. We'll certainly miss your funny e-mails. Even when life was getting hard for you, you were still making us laugh and smile. I remember our e-mails from last week when you accidently deleted one of my posts and I posted sarcastic/funny objecting replies and you happily replied with more funny e-mails which I'm sure made us both laugh. RIP mate and now you can enjoy any tropical holiday you want and watch us from above as we fly around. Even though I never got to meet you, you'll always be missed :'(

Although I've never known him personally, I have interacted with him on many occasions in my time as a fellow crew member. Hercules was the nicest, kindest, most down to earth person who was always ready to help. I have been truly honoured to have known him, albeit only on a professional level.

Hercules will be sadly missed. My condolences go out to his family.

I was stunned when I heard the news. Hercules was one of those people that truly meant everything he said. He was a genuine person and loved the community here. His kindness no matter what the situation was beyond respectable. If something was going on in your life he would check in, just to make sure it is all going just okay. I was telling the other crew members most people think the internet doesn't provide a personal touch, but Hercules is proof that isn't true.

Hercules was a great man, a great mod, and a great friend.

That's terrible news - the man was a true gentleman, unfailingly polite and helpful in all communications. He was open in his approach and welcomed constructive feedback, was engaging and thoughtful. He is a true loss to this community. Farewell Hercules - you'll be missed.

I am shocked and speechless. We had chats almost every day on FB. Hercules was a very nice, kind and motivated person.

He did something very special for me back in 2010 in this site. He was an excellent moderator and truly cared for the members here.

I will really miss him.

This is really very sad. I don't post on here much but Hercules was a great contributor to this site and helped me out when I first joined. He will be sorely missed, best wishes to his family and friends.

Dear Hercules,

We chatted almost everyday and through the years you gave me a good insight into the great person and friend you were to many, including me. I remember how much work you did back in 2010 to help me with those glitches at a.net It was a lot of work and you undertook it all in your free time.

You were a big part of why this community stands above many other forums and your grace and elegance when communicating with members was always appreciated. I hope you will remain an example to follow.

Wherever you are my friend I wish you warmth and peace. I will never forget you.

I still cannot believe Hercules is no longer with us. He was a great guy and was always happy to offer help and advice. It certainly will not be the same without him. Condolences to the rest of his family and friends at this sad and difficult time.

Life is short. Too short. Hercules was only 39. We lost him way too soon.

Hercules invited me to South Africa. I've always wanted to visit South Africa and, well, to know someone there whom I can crash with, that would have been great! I've been a member of Airliners.net since literally my first days as a college-aged airport rampie and have had the privilege of serving as a forum moderator now for the past few years. Both as a member and later as a crew member he and I have had great conversations about all kinds of stuff.

I'm really at a loss for words about all of this.

May Hercules RIP.. As one reads through the many posts, you can tell and see how well respected he was here ( and I am sure elsewhere too. ) The best way to honor Hercules is to always be nice and treat others how he did, so his spirit will live on throughout the rest of the world. You know I sat here and read through these posts and it was really cool to see all the nice comments. The moderator team all worked with him on a daily basis, so we had direct contact with him regularly and were able to witness how much of a great person he was. But to see members saw the same thing is really awesome. I absolutely agree. If we all treated each other how Hercules treated people the world would be a much nicer place.

I have only just seen this awful news.

Only a couple of weeks ago I had a nice chat with Hercules on Facebook.

He was always such a good friend to me on a.net, during my time as a moderator, and in particular when I posted a long post in non-av back in 2006 about my father's death, he gave me huge support and friendship.

I am so saddened by this and I feel so much for his family who I know have had other similar devastating losses.
