Well, it hasn't been a bad year for me, but a few do-away-with-able things that occur to me, in no particular order:

- heroin and crack
- righteous, intolerant "christian" schmucks who mouth pieties (*)
- a380 bashers
- those a380 lovers who rush to feel persecuted when anyone even hints at criticizing the a380
- 787 "teething problems" (or not)
- Faux News, er I mean Fox "News"
- thought police, regardless of political pseudo-classification

(*) I don't doubt that there are plenty of these in any religion, but the "Jesus loves everyone (except you)" crowd seems to be particularly prevalent in the US. I'm not at all sure that it's progress that they seem to have moved on from "Kill them all and let God sort them out."

- The word "thug" - it has become the 21st century version of "nigger," and I abhor the amount of white people who use it so freely and disdainfully towards black people.

- Religious influence on politics. I love George Carlin's 2nd Commandment in his revised 10 Commandment list - "Thou shall keep thy religion to thyself!"

- About half the cable channels including all cable news channels. They have straight up ruined how America sees itself and the world. And as for the rest of them - there is just too much garbage, uninspired TV out there that is ruining our society.

- Some of the US military. And by that, I mean it's time for our military to downsize and shrink a little. We could always use a few good men for our national defense, but right now, we could use a few less good men, as well a lot less of planes and tanks that the military leaders don't want but Congress orders anyways. Put that money towards rebuilding and modernizing American infrastructure.

Looking forward to 2015 after a good 2014!!

Most things i don't want to see in 15 will not go away so what's the point.

Regarding the reality tv form the usa. I've never seen the kadarshins (sp) but i know they exist. I spent a few weeks in usa last month and usually i don't watch tv but i did this time. In the hotel i never know what is on or when so i just flip through...

Midgets making midgets?? seriously? And all the adverts on medications... its non-stop. I was working on the pc and heard one saying before before consulting with your gp phone us first so we can prepare you, basically info so you can tell your gp what you need!!!

Overly talkative sports commentators. Give me real play by play info, not garbage of what the players ate last night.
The too many TV commercials that ruin sports and general programs.
Ads for prescription medicines. They push the most expensive, troublesome stuff ('an erection lasting more than 4 hours' or 'may cause death' ) most don't need and can't afford in part from all the damm ads, only to enrich their owners.
The attention given to some protesters. It is difficult to be selective, but less attention may mean less anger and maybe resolve issues better.
Many of the channels on cable/dish TV or at least let me have some choice as to channels and not subsidies others, as well as cut my cable bill costs. It also means too many bad programs to fill the space we don't need.
The way too much use of foul language in public and workplaces. I don't want to hear someone dropping f-bombs into their mobile/cell phones walking down the street.
Retail stores open on Thanksgiving and too early on 'Black Friday'. Paramus, NJ, near me, limits hours to between 7 am and 11 pm, not allowed to be open on Sundays (sadly there were no laws on one of the biggest malls there being open 6 PM-11 PM on Thanksgiving Day this year for the 1st time)
The Glorification of the Rich in this country and really around the world.
My state Governor Christie and some of his staff as well as many other politicians to jail for their corruption.
The takeover of elections and politicians by the richest in the USA.
Show off athletes. Just play and let that be enough to get attention, and not have to act so self centered.

Admittedly social democrats do deserve credit for building the welfare state model, something that I agree with. However after 80's or so our social democrats lost their purpose as thanks to EU and globalization & turned into an enormous pile of historical waste.

Nowadays Nordic social democrats are mostly concerned of creating "multicultural" society by taking as many poor refugees as they can, giving them free money and then just leaving them to their miserable ghettos. I guess social democrats do this to gain new voters who will vote them to get more benefits, after all native youth certainly doesn't vote them. To gain voters from naive idealist women they also love spreading extreme feminist arguments.

Hopefully when most of SDP's voters either die from old age or get too demented to vote (this should happen within next 20 years) the party will lose its significance in Finnish politics. SDP has nothing to give to rational Finnish people, those who support leftist ideas should vote for left alliance, a party that is actually leftist unlike SDP.

I have but one request to add to all the others:

Please, Please, for the love of all that is worthy:

Please make people stop saying "REALLY?" after each sentence, in an effort to try and make a point about something.

It is hideously annoying, ineffective and is just unnecessary.

I think that the first time that I heard it used commonly was from that bald guy on the History Channel show, "Pawn Stars".
Pretty soon, everyone has been saying it.

One other - folks, PLEASE STOP SAYING "So, " at the beginning of each sentence. A lot of newscasters abuse that a lot and I have been guilty of it also, once and again, but I am trying not to.

I'll get off my soapbox, now.

-Nick

I'm super sick of super.

Political Incorrectness is so much better.

I'd just prefer the term itself was dropped and people simply admit that their attitudes are no longer as popular as they were. Besides, PC changes over time. It used to be PC to worry about the "yellow peril" in Australia under the then PC White Australia policy. In Germany it was once PC to persecute Jews. Today, few Germans would oppose the PC of condeming antisemitism.

Every year I see people say they want "political correctness" to go away. Yet, when the chips are down, those same people scream how they are not included. Let's take a reality check on political correctness:

PC is INCLUDING people in the most INCLUSIVE nation on the planet.
PC is letting EVERYONE to have a voice.
PC is shutting NO ONE out at all period.

So, yeah.... Let's get rid of political correctness say the people who want to get rid of political correctness.

Since I am feeling bold, one thing that really grinds my gears and I want to get rid of (hopefully by Constitutional amendment, but I am not holding my breath) is hatred of homeless. The United States is a "Christian nation" after all, right? I am asking you, right wingers. Those people you see at the bottom of freeway off ramps are not always chauffeur driven and live in mansions chasing the dragon. Many of them are families and/or veterans of war sleeping in a car or under an overpass who buy into the hype that Obama hates.

As much as I never want to hear Taylor Swift, I would much rather we never see homeless. They are, after all, freeloaders (according to the right). I actually never want to see homeless because we are acting like the Christian nation the right says we are.

At least I can change to Sirius/XM Chill or Sirius/XM Progress when a Taylor Swift song comes on. Homeless vets or seniors or children? They don't even have the luxury of a bad meal at Taco Bell.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

Like in Sweden where it's politically incorrect to criticize country's immigration policy, so much that everyone is afraid to publicly show support to a party that would wants to limit the massive amount of refugees the country receives?

They even created a system where opposition parties support the minority government to stop it from collapsing, effectively keeping this one moderate party away from political decision making and turning the country into a dictatorship as your vote really doesn't matter at all.

No, overdose of political correctness witnessed by western world simply limits freedom of speech and makes it more difficult to have an open discussion about difficult topics as only opinions that are seen "politically correct" (or mainstream) are listened.

Sure I can understand that opinions should be stated in an appropriate, "politically correct" way so they don't unnecessarily offend anyone, though neither should we stay silent because of fear of offending someone. Criticism towards anything should be allowed as long as it's presented in appropriate, civilized manner. That's not what happens in western world.

All physical and medical ailments afflicting my loved ones.
My current employment status.
My uncertainty about moving abroad in hopes of finding a job.
Bickering in governments all over the world. Just do what is right!

If I may be greedy:

My physical problems. I hate being 29 and feeling twice that.
My depression.
My inability to think before I type or speak (probably related to the depression)

Do I need more?

'Enforced' by various organizations that act to ostracize someone for speaking his mind in a public forum. Just look around you; you see it all the time. Say that black on black crime is a problem...The Rev. Al comes a knocking. Refuse to change your football team's name and the government, among other groups, comes after you. They don't have the same right to say what they think?

If you wish to be blind to it, so be it.

Im not blind to it. I just feel that anti-PC people lack empathy and are for the lack a better term douch&y a**holes.

And, your opinion is yours. I choose not to be offended by what you wrote. See, the PC crowd is a crowd of folks who just look for things to be offended by. They are perpetually offended and feel it is, not only their right, but their responsibility to point out that they are offended and anyone who doesn't feel offended is an offender.

That's what I want to go away...along with what I wrote in reply 27...the professional, perpetually offended.

Actually, I'm one of the nicest folks I know, I just don't pull punches when the situations warrants it.

You left something out...in a PC world, all the above is enforced at the expense free speech, free association and/or free thought.

By whom? The ones truly offended by "PC" and "free speech" are those who support Fox Entertainment. If one really looks closely, no one but Fox Entertainment (read: MSM) really cares about "PC" content because only Fox Entertainment (not "news") tells their followers there is a war on.

Look at it this way: The only time there is a "war" on Christmas is when Fox Entertainment decides there is a "war" on Christmas in November and December. The only time there is a "war" on free speech is when Fox Entertainment decides O'Reilly or Hannity has had their "facts" questioned.

To put it yet another way: the only people offended by free speech are those who own the airwaves. Does this sound familiar? "They are threatening free speech!!! They hate American values!!!" Sounds like.... The center and left still have work to do.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

"enforced" - by whom?

Every news organization has a list of words they will not print.

I was censored once by a major Australian newspaper for referring to myself as "a poofter" - a fine old Australian word which these days some consider derogatory.

Perhaps they thought I would be offended by me. They changed it to "gay" - which really offends me.

I think I've only heard that on Monty Python...I think.

But, a great example. Anyone here think any of the Monty Python movies could be made now? How about Blazin Saddles? Benny Hill, anyone?

My wish to go away list for 2015:
- tattoo mania
- reports on anything concerning Miley Cyrus
- the liquids ban
- the over exaggerated importance of "social media"
- denial the CIA used any form of torture
- the growing acceptance of the words "fuck" and "shit" in Germany
- the growing use of "Denglish" in Germany

Violence against the police
Overuse of the "race" card -- "Oh, you're just doing/saying that because I'm black!" Rules are rules, and race has nothing to do with it.
Race riots
Tom Brady
Bill Belichick
Pittsburgh's city planners -- they're nothing more than overpaid bureaucrats who think they're certified planners
Political correctness -- Yeah, I say "Merry Christmas" because I'm a Catholic! If you tell me I can't say that, then I find your remarks offensive and hurtful -- to me; you are hurting me!

Thank GOD Honey-BOO BOO is going (went) away tho!!

So which is it? You want the government to do something but you don't want them telling you what to do? Makes sense.

My list

1. The term 'check your priviledge'
2. Global warming zealots
3. Rachel Maddow
4. Heather Cho
5. Muslim immigrants to Europe, particularly Norway.
6. The perceived 'Southwest Affect'
7. Current Republican Leadership in Congress.

Actually, a pretty good example on why it's not the federal government's job to "change things for the better". What is perceived to be "better" for some is not "better", and in fact may be worse.

That was my point. We as individuals are responsible to make things better not the government.

So which is it? You want the government to do something but you don't want them telling you what to do? Makes sense.

Last time I checked, Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, MUNI, BART, ACE, Tri-Met, etc. were LOCAL agencies. No United States federal government law FORCES anyone to live in podunk towns and no United States federal government law FORCES public transportation to said podunk towns.

Case in point: Condon, Oregon. No taxi, no public bus service, no high speed rail, no rail at all. Why? The answer is: why should tax dollars in a "liberal" state like Oregon be spent on such frivolous things? The same holds true for other "liberal" states. The only reason Gilliam County has the federal tax revenue it does is from I-84. They get some state revenue from the land fill set up by Portland and by farmers who sell their land for wind mills built by Portland General Electric. This is one of the most conservative counties in the country.

Drug tests for food stamp recipients? There is tons of money for that... And, under which party leadership was there billions of dollars for the House to work only 175 days plus receive full pay and benefits and vote on nothing substantial?

I agree with you on that one.

I'm not sure if I mentioned all those House Flipping informercials/commercials and seminars. Especially the ones with Nick Vertucci. Please let them fade away this year.
