These skills have been lost because women aren't home barefoot and pregnant anymore.

Again:

wow.

I am not "missing the point" but, rather, trying to explain that this is not the 1950s anymore. There are plenty of women who want to cook and enjoy doing it. But, so many men are accustomed to everything being there at the snap of his fingers. Cooking a good and flavorful and healthful meal takes time. People do not want to wait anymore. Why should they when there is a Pizza Hut app, Chipotle app, Taco Bell app, and so many other food ordering apps? We have been conditioned to believe that this food should taste one way and that food should taste that way because that is what the fast food industry has done to us.

Take tacos, for example. It takes hours to marinate and cook steak to perfection. Then, to pair it with the right corn tortillas and salsa, get the onion to cilantro ratio just so. But, to many Americans, that is not tacos. Tacos come in some crunchy thing with ground "beef" and lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and cheese.

Plus, so many women enjoy being treated as human and not this subservient thing that is "barefoot and pregnant" and catering to the bread winner.

Beside fulfilling her other marital duties, I expect my woman to cook most of the time, clean, not give me alot of backtalk and let me play video games with my friends. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I'll be honest - that sounds awful. A spouse is a partner - not a convenient form of legalized slavery.

Housework is your job too - and it's absurd of you to expect your wife to do everything domestic while you sit and play video games with your buddies. As if she has nothing she'd rather be doing? She's not your mommy and she's not your maid.

Quoting USFlyer MSP (Reply 37):
That is pretty much what some of her girlfriends told her but she has the ring while they are sitting at home looking at each other...

Good for them.

If a female friend told me that she was seriously contemplating marrying a man who said "I won't love you until you agree to cook and clean for me," I'd tell her to run in the opposite direction as far and as fast as possible.

Yeah, actually, that kind of dehumanizing treatment of somebody you "love" is way too much to ask.

It is because it is seen as subservient, anti-feminist and domesticated, instead of as a valuable life skill to possess (for male and female). In our house we both cook and we both do the grocery shopping and stuff.

Everyone should be able to fend for themselves and be able to prepare, cook and feed themselves if necessary. McDonald's won't be open after a 10.0 earthquake or a tsunami or even if IS run amok your town. The fact you can cook basic cuisine IS beneficial to everyone's life.

No, I didn't. Your point is that the only thing women should do is stay at home barefoot and pregnant. Your reply 46. My response to that is: some people cook, some do not. Some people can be taught that skill, others do not want any part of it. My one brother could very easily burn cereal until he married and his wife finished her Master's degree. He learned very quickly how to keep from starving. Even though they are vegan, he is still an okay cook. And she works. And they raise five children together.

My continued response is: if you want someone to cook for you so badly, you need to go to the supermarket and start buying things. I have also heard that is a great place to meet nice girls.

I'm using your stereotype of what you think conservatives think to prove a point. It went right over your head, so yeah you missed it. Completely.

Thanks for proving my point anyway about career focuses causing a paradigm shift in the kitchen.

Hmm if you hadn't mentioned the videogames I would have suggested you looked to the Amish people for a suitable woman. However the electronics ruined that.

I have a feeling you'll end up importing a woman who comes from a rather impoverish family in the Philippines or similar. She will say yes, serve you and be a great housewife for you as long as you provide enough money on the table and provide her with enough to send remittance back to the Philippines for her parents/siblings etc.
And shell accept you whether fat, dirty or smelly. As long as you're a good and honest man.
I see these relationships very often in Asia. Western men with poor SE Asian wives. (Usually Thai or Filipina) the man is king and is treated just like the western husbands of the 1950:ies were.

To be honest I didn't think men like you existed anymore in the western world and I am surprised any American woman would ever accept that kind of relationship and that her family didn't cause a complete stink. I know that i would have sent any man even implying such values out on his head before he could count to three.
But I don't judge people. if it works for you and your partner and you both want it that way, by all means go for it.

Sean, who can cook, not that good but decent enough to feed himself and family.

I think it has more or less to do with how the female was raised in the family. And the simple fact, not all women are great cooks... or want to be great cooks. And it's not limited to just the female in the family. My mother raised 4 boys and not a single daughter. Being the youngest she always had me around whenever she cooked dinner or baked dessert. I can't cook a great meal to save my life... but I can make a creme brulee to make your mouth water, as well as other desserts. It comes down with what you're good at.

It is, however, a different day in age. With microwavable meals and reasonably priced sit-down restaurants, a family dinner is not what it was 50 years ago. This also varies from family to family. In our family, we have never once had a microwave dinner... everything is home cooked. The only exception is special events where the entire family goes out to eat.
