Besides having a name that is so bad it may only be beaten by the Carnival Sunshine,

I never understood why Carnival renamed her as Sunshine. Carnival Destiny was an excellent name for her...had a bit of class to an otherwise less than classy cruise line.

From the following list of 'Action & Adventure' options:

I noticed that you didn't mention quality and variety of food. At my age that, and ports of call, are at the top of my list. Then comes the evening entertainment.

Perhaps because that specific post I made was about the "Action & Adventure" options?

In a post about "Action & Adventure" options on a ship talking about the "quality and variety of food" might be slightly off topic... but you get that on this site - a lot!

I do agree that the variety and quality of food and dining options is an important consideration when going on a cruise, as well as the ports of call especially (I am definitely not going on a cruise with an unappealing origin / destination / port of call itinerary).

Then comes the evening entertainment.

If you can't find a particular show, performance, activity, gaming area, lounge, bar, night club, etc, that appeals to your particular taste then you could always retreat to your 'room' with your partner and make your own entertainment. But having said that, you might have difficulties at your age without a little blue pill

At my age

After looking at the Ovation of the Seas above i feel that our little river cruise boat (the smallest on the rivers with 128 pax) looks a bit "inferior", but I'm heading to Paris with the Wife next Saturday. Sailing on the Scenic Gem for a week during a two week trip and won't feel a bit bad about my little boat.

Enjoy the ""private butler service, a wealth of dining venue options, private balconies with Scenic ‘Sun Lounge’, and our usual wide choice of complimentary drinks whenever and wherever you are onboard"" that the Scenic Gem offers its 128 passengers. I believe there is a "Wellness area", massage service, hair salon, gym and electric bicycles on board - how exciting! Sounds even more exciting than the QM2 which offers the geriatrics deck sports such as shuffleboard and deck quoits

I was almost going to book a QM2 cruise for next year, just to tick it off my 'bucket list', until I remembered my age and what type of people that ship caters to - do I want to subject myself to torture for that long??? Then I learned that the Ovation of the Seas will be in town a few months earlier

People of all ages sail aboard Cunard ships, though. QM2's gymnasium is very well equipped and even has a decent collection of free weights, which is unusual on a ship (the ship must be stable or someone might drop a very heavy weight). They also have a good collection of dumbbells and a functional training area in addition to lots of cardio equipment. On a ship that size, they need to be able to cater to everyone.

We'll all be his age one day. I wonder if you'll appreciate a younger man making fun of it when that time comes.
