Coldest - maybe -3C in Paris. Hottest +49C in my home town of Wollongong NSW Australia a couple of years ago. Crazy stuff for a coastal city and the energy releasd in the cool change mid-evening was a force to behold! Temperature dropped over 20C in around 15 minutes

-45C static, in my home town around 92, cold snap that year was so extreme water mains were exploding, -58 with windchill. School talks about how to treat frostbite, stay inside, etc etc, were the thing that year.
+44C in Barbados, 2013... thank god for beer!

For me it was -45degC (-49degF), and +50degC (+122degF) in Dubai (although unofficially over 50degC in Melbourne - the official temp was 46.4degC and this was painfully hot like being in a furnace).
I was skiing in Canada and took my helmet off for a moment and got mild frostbite as a result.

Hottest: 44 Celsius at our beach house on the Coromandel Peninsular. Was having a swim with friends, when we decided to go home for a late lunch. As we walked back, someone mentioned that the grass felt like it was burning their feet (you can see how dry it is in the second picture below). As we ate lunch on the deck I complained about how hot it was. Someone went inside and came back with an alarm clock that had a thermometer in it. We put it on the table (under a sun umbrella) and to our disbelief it rose up to 46 degrees after a few minutes. Skeptical about the reliability of an alarm-clock thermometer, I went inside and pulled a more reliable looking one off the wall. After a few minutes that one showed 44. This was a day after the massive Black Saturday bushfires in Australia.

Coldest: Saw -15 as the ambient air temperature after getting back into the car, somewhere in the French Alps. I've never really been anywhere particularly cold.

Hottest is easy - 122 fahrenheit, Phoenix, summer 1990. Freaky hot.

I remember when that heat spell occurred. Fortunately I wasn't there but my ex was living there at the time and used to talk about it often. I seem to remember reading that they had problems at the airport with the pavement on the tarmac getting so soft that planes' landing gears were sinking a few inches into it.

Quoting BHMNONREV (Reply 49):
Hottest: 2004 - Kuwait, 54C but it was a dry hea

I love when people say that. My reply is "yeah, so is my oven."

Oh dear..

Coldest was -36C with a windchill well into the -40s.
not once or twice either.

Hottest would be around 41C in Southern Europe.

Favourite temperature (if on vacation) is around 32C with quite a lot of humidity (love humidity!!)

Not a fan of winters. but hey, I live in Canada, so I suck it up

HOTTST
116F/46.6C Las Vegas Nevada in 1979. I think it was their hottest day ever at the time, but the record has been superceded. They say dry heat, lemme tell ya. At that temp dry heat is brutal. Can't even imagine Persian Gulf cities that have those temps AND humidity.

COLDEST
=5F/-20.5C Landover Md during a cold wave. Went to a rock concert @ the old Capital Centre. Was not wasted enough not to notice.

Much prefer cold to hot, when its cold you can wear a sweate, then a jacke, then layers. When it is hot you are sh*t out of luck unless you are inside with A/C

PC, can anyone tell me why it was the Capital Centre when it was in the capital of the English speaking ountry that spells it Center? Always wondered that.

Coldest was probably around -30'C in Northern Ontario. Hottest was in Texas where it was +43'C (110F).

Warsaw this summer was regularity +36'C, unofficially my car thermometer showed +39.5'C but the humidity here is fairly low so no big deal. I love the heat!

Anyone try to fry an egg on the pavement or asphalt?

I heard Dallas and Las Vegas in July/August work best...

I think my hottest is probably 115F and -16F on the coldest in Oklahoma. My most under prepared was traveling from Bangkok to Oklahoma City via NRT and ORD. Left Bangkok in shorts and flip flops, arrived Chicago, -2F. Went through customs after arriving from NRT and had to take the train (outside of the airport) to the other terminals. FRIGID!

114F in San Bernardino CA in June 1990 ( on the same day PHX hit 122)

-13F in Schaumburg, IL in January 1982. My wife and I were talking our cat for a routing vet visit on foot (vet was literally across the street). Wind was dead calm and it didn't seem so bad, but we wondered why our jackets were crackling. We had the cat wrapped up in a thick blanket and she did fine. We didn't check the weather report before leaving our condo.

Hottest day I refereed soccer was 107F in San Bernardino CA, probably 2012 or 2013.
135 hrs PIC (mostly PA-28) - not current. Landings at MDW, PIA, JAN.
