In-N-Out Burgers puts Bible verses on some of it's packaging. How much nationwide outrage has there been over that? Sure, it has been talked about, but that is about it.

In-N-Out has not discriminated against LGBT or female employees. They have not tried to cut contraception from their employees' health plans. They have not been very vocal about their faith.

However, the family that owns In-N-Out is very religious and they put bible verses discretely on their cups. The bible verses have a common theme: belief in Christ.

No outcry because it is a quiet statement of faith and nothing more. Silly in my opinion, yes, but to me all religion is silly. At least this form of it is harmless.

There are way too many 'Christians' who believe that have to force their faith on 'heathens' to assure a better place in the afterlife in a mythical heaven they are taught to believe in. That includes putting pressure on businesses to say in packaging, advertising, and staff greeting customers with 'Merry Christmas', or face boycotts or very un-Christian harassment.

My employers' refusal to provide me a car affects my ability to get necessary transportation, yet I drive to work each day.

And when the law says that your employer must provide you with transportation, that point will be relevant.

The law states that employers must cover certain birth control medication. You may not like it, you may disagree with it, but the law was passed, and it needs to be followed whether everyone agrees with it or not, otherwise we've got anarchy.

Quoting BMI727 (Reply 98):
But part of liberty means that you and I don't get to decide what is meaningful to people.

No. Someone's physical health is more important to protect than their emotional health. It's why we ban people from hitting other people with a baseball bat but ban people calling other people insulting names.

That law has no business being a law.

Quoting Mir (Reply 103):
Someone's physical health is more important to protect than their emotional health.

I agree. And if it's that important people should happily go make sure they have what they need rather than making it someone else's problem and whining about the solution.

It's the basic relationship between control and responsibility. If I'm going to pass the responsibility for my health on to my employer or the government it also means ceding control over what that entails. When they're paying the bills, they make the rules. I have to abide by the prescriptions their plan covers and go to the doctors in their network. If that does not suit me I have the ability to take back the responsibility for paying for those things and regaining total control.

Quoting Mir (Reply 103):

Again I agree, but recent events would indicate that many people, sadly, seem not to.

First of all, I'm probably rather atypical in this respect. Most people seem to really like spending money, so much that they'll spend money they don't have. Hell, plenty of people want to spend my money, which brings me to the next point...

You're wrong about trickle down economics because when I'm not spending my money it doesn't mean other people aren't. Sure I could go spend my money on an Xbox or shoes or whatever else. Or I can just hang onto that money and let it go be someone's mortgage, new machinery for a factory, an expansion on a school or whatever else. I quite like other people spending my money as long as at the end of the day it's still my money and I'm making a return on it rather than getting shaken down by fools who want to vote for Bernie Sanders.

The Starbucks cup issue is absolutely idiotic and goes to show that in spite of what a lot of right wingers on here and elsewhere like to believe, "low-information" voters come in all stripes. At the end of the day, Joshua Fuerestein probably knows better, but the allure of book sales, speaking engagements, and the like is probably too great to resist. Fortunately for him, he has a ready-made audience of dolts who have convinced themselves that Christianity is under attack in this country. I actually feel sorry for people whose perception of reality is so skewed by organized religion and by opportunists, they no longer know which way is up, and which is down.

With respect to contraception, what that has to do with anything is beyond me, other than a ridiculous side-show orchestrated by a.net's resident angry libertarian.

Millennials have been brainwashed since the day they were born to believe the time is money mantra and that taking vacation is akin to being lazy. They believe that a well-rested worker is a lazy worker, rather than a happy worker. The irony is that most of the brainwashing has come from baby-boomers, the same group who inherited untold prosperity and took full advantage of it, before frittering it all away and leaving gen-x'ers and millennials to pick up the tab for their excess.

I'm not making an argument against vacation time, I'm making an argument against me using vacation time. I actually like other people using vacation time because someone has to pick up the slack which I'm usually perfectly happy to do. Spending a little more time and doing a little extra stuff adds up plus I don't know which detail or trick is the one that might matter years down the road.

But I am dead set against government mandated vacation time. It's compensation and it is purely a matter to be settled between employer and employee. The government has no business being involved.

Quoting OA412 (Reply 109):
Millennials have been brainwashed since the day they were born to believe the time is money mantra and that taking vacation is akin to being lazy.

Don't extrapolate me into "millenials." Most of what I've seen seems to suggest my attitude is very much the exception rather than the rule. And I'm entirely okay with that, as long as those who go about their business differently don't expect me to subsidize their decisions. I'm going to do things the way I do them regardless, but it is admittedly nicer when it's a differentiator rather than just keeping up with the Joneses.

and people are "having kittens over this?"

Though it's becoming trite to say:
I still haven't seen a single everyday person who cares about this in the least. Nor heard of one. Even vicariously.

It's the most blatantly manufactured "controversy" I've ever seen.

Except they use your money for other things that they want. Not what you want. Your money working for what someone else wants.

I get paid for that.

Quoting seb146 (Reply 117):
From what you say and your cavalier attitude against everyone else, I would say no. You actually don't. I would say you read the headlines from those sites on someone else's FB or the subject line in the spam of your email.

Let's see your documentation of what I read, watch and listen to then. And if, by some miracle, you are able to produce that I be the NSA has a job for you.

Quoting seb146 (Reply 117):
Also, your condescending attitude is just the worst.

You have no regard for facts. You make grand economic pronouncements and then apparently do not understand the very basics of how banks work. Condescension is the easily the most reasonable response to such things. Anyone who is not condescending towards you is just patronizing you.

In Charlie Brown Christmas, Lucy says something like:

Christmas is a big commercial racket! It's run by a big Eastern Syndicate, you know...

In other words, I should not believe what I live and see and breathe.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!
