VIA Rail Canada's "Canadian"

Sat Nov 14, 2015 10:42 pm

Has anyone taken this train from YYZ to YVR or vice versa? I'm riding it for the first time in February. As a fan of train travel, it's always been a bucket list item for me. I hear it's one of the great train trips in the world.
Spread hope like fire.

Yes, did this a few years ago, Vancouver all the way to Toronto, non-stop.

Loved it, was a great time and had managed a cheap 'section' with all meals paid for - definitely a great trip.

Would recommend splitting it in two or three bits in hindsight.

I've done it 3-4 times now. It's absolutely a fantastic experience, but if you are in a berth don't expect to be able to charge your electronics easily. Bring a good book and sit in the observation lounge of the bullet car.

How many days is the trip.

I thought CN dropped the cross-country trip a while back.

Yes I did this back in 1998 from Toronto to Jasper. Was not very old back then but I remember it as a very nice trip.

I have a Cabin for 1. Those seem to have outlets.

They consolidated the Canadian and Super Continental. Also, it isn't a CN or CP train. It is VIA.
