Hi all,
This is not really related to the events in Paris although could be useful in such a situation.
As cities get larger and we bcome more and more dependent on infrastructure it might be smart to prepare for when things don't go to plan.
Weather event, natural disaster, civil disturbance or as seen recently large scale terrorist situations
This is about what you would include in a EDC (Every Day Carry) kit, the things you would want to have with you every day, the necessities, things you need.
What do you make sure you have with you to get through those short term crises?
I am not talking about an apocolypse but an unexpected event that might keep you away from where you expected to be for a few hours to a few days.
*** NOTE*** I am asking about what you would carrty with you to keep you going, not take on the world.. so not looking for where you might conceal your Glock G42 or how to tuck a Ka-Bar into your boot ***

Knife...a pretty general term, so a knife similar to this.
Cash...not a lot, maybe $30, give or take a few bucks.
And, more and more, lately, my glasses.
Why? A firearm is part of my EDC. I carry a Smith & Wesson Shield 40.
Now, I do keep a small bag in the car. I only take it along when I go for a hike or out on the water. Contents:
A couple of Cliff Bars
Water
A small Gatorade pouch...100 quick calories.
Another knife.
A length of line...bigger than a string, smaller than a proper rope.
A couple of carabiners...nothing that will take a fall, just for tie-off and such.
Power pack for my phone, with charger cable.
A couple of packages of almonds.
Lighter & tinder.
A disposable poncho.
Trash bag.
A Gerber multi-tool.
Spare magazine for my Shield.

I understand that and don't have a huge issue with it.
My reasoning was that-
a/ "Carrying" is not a option for most outside the US.
b/ I have seen similar threads in other forums quickly degenerate into a "preppers" arms race.
Nothing wrong with any of that, just not the intention of this thread.

I would think the most important things to have on you in case of an emergency outside would be
1) Phone, obviously
2) Power bank - even more obvious: what good is a dead phone (unless of course you're using one of those throwaway Nokia phones that have a 3-day battery life)?
3) Cash
4) Any form of identity card - especially in foreign lands, I never leave my hotel without my passport.

Not my intention for it to go there either. The firearm is as much part of my EDC as my wallet.
I forgot to add that I carry a flashlight whenever I go to an entertainment venue (concert, sporting event, etc.). That one I learned from experience.
There are 2 flashlights in my bag.
