Obama To Visit San Bernardino

Thu Dec 17, 2015 7:02 am

All of a sudden according to AP, Obama has scheduled a visit to San Bernardino, California on Friday December 18, 2015 to meet with the shooting victims family before heading on his annual holiday vacation to Hawaii. Traveling aboard the Boeing 747-200B I wonder if he's gonna land in Ontario, California and then take Marine One or just land at the long runway at San Bernardino International Airport. Secret Service wont say, public cameras not allowed, this will be a private meeting with families only. Interesting, I thought he would never come and assumed Vice President Biden might visit instead, well, welcome to San Bernardino, California Mr. President, we welcome your hospitality.

You mean Obama is coming over to Ca NOT to collect money from any fund raiser? Wow! That's a first.

Seriously,Where in the State Of California is Gov.Brown? He needs to be with Obama today because he has been MIA in this tragedy. Not good. But it would been nice if Obama would have visit us here in the IE without this somber moment of remembrance.
Tuesday's Off! Do not disturb.

I believe Obama will land at Hickam AFB in Hawaii as usual, because the Secret Service does not like to disrupt civilian air travel at commercial airports. Interesting!

Doesn't Hickam just use HNL's runways?

It depends on where the meeting will be. The victims lived all over Southern California, most withing 30 min drive of San Bernardino, but a few lived over an hour away. ONT would be about 20 miles away from San Bernardino City Hall. He could also travel by helicopter instead of on the ground.

SBD is closer and I saw the Fry's 747SP doing touch and goes there about 5-6 years ago. He may also land at March ARB. Then the families could meet with him at an on-base facility and there would not be the Secret Service worries about ground travel.
135 hrs PIC (mostly PA-28) - not current. Landings at MDW, PIA, JAN.

From what I know, Hickam has nothing to do with Honolulu airport runways, and every Presidential flight aboard Air Force One is considered a military flight. Hickam AFB is where Pearl Harbor is I believe, so C-17s are also stationed there and they'll just park the VC-25A there until President Obama leaves back to DC. I'm glad he's visiting San Bernardino County for two hours.

Your right, pardon me on that one, just found out on Google Earth that Hickam Field is right next to HNL.
