Well, it's a sad day to write this but my cancer has spread. I have tumours in my lungs, liver and brain. I am not sure how i feel, this is so scary. I can almost handle the cancer in my lungs and liver but I cannot handle the foct thart it is in my brain. No more treatment. I have had a huge blast of chemo but the cancer is too strong. To all young nen out there - please be aware of your balls. Check all the time. This cancer has a 95 per cent and plus survival rate, I was just too late and ignored my symptoms. Strange stomach pains, like a cramp. Sweating and feeling knackered when you exercise. Light headed and dizzy in the morning! I am going to go public with this soon. But share!

Jesus. That is awful, Britannia. I lost my father to cancer this past year. I worked from home for 3 months to be with him every day until he passed away. There came a point where we had to decide as a family to pack it in and let the diseases take their course. It was tough, but at least he had some quality of life to the end.

Stay as strong as you can.

I lost my mum and dad to cancer over the past 12 months and 2 days!

Hospice care in the UK (and Ireland) is fantastic, but make sure your family and friends know what to expect as it isn't easy for patient and loved ones.

Be at peace with yourself. When my father had the last rights he was like a new man. He is lucky in his strong faith.

That is so true. Guys really don't think about their family jewels when it comes to cancer and they certainly need to, just like young women need to do their monthly breast self exam.

I am saddened to learn of this. To be diagnosed with cancer is always a shock but to learn that it has spread and is terminal is horrifying. It is bad enough in the elderly but you are still a young man.

Can I assume you are speaking of testicular cancer, that you cancer started with and spread from there? I can only share that I had it, many years ago, I had the surgery and then radiation therapy following and was fortunate that mine was the "best" kind to have, easily treatable, had not spread, and found early. Interestingly it was my future wife who discovered it, for me I had grown used to how things were down there. It was normal to me. One one was affected, the other was fine (and is, I now have a family - one ball does it all!). My now wife simply shared that she was concerned and that I should go to the doctor just to check. If not for that, I am positive I would not have gone. It is scary to think of now.

I will say that boys are not taught what girls are taught nowadays about their breasts, to feel and check and report ANYTHING. Don't afraid or ashamed, it is important to be aware and stay aware. Boys don't know what their testicles are supposed to feel like, and it sounds weird to even say that, to think that we should need to learn this stuff. But we do.

Awww. This is sad. And this is hard.  

Honestly, I believe in having a second life after we have been through living this one, though I have no means of knowing which lives I have lived in my past, and which life I will lead in the future.

Seek quality of life as long as it is possible! My grandfather who successfully fought laryngeal cancer at 80 and got esophagal cancer at 82 decided to be cared for at home at first. The drugs did help to keep pain and sleeplessness at bay, but they ware badly adjusted. So he was awake for only 15 minutes, then dozing off again, and during the night, he couldn't really sleep. After going to the hospice, he was awake during the day, and could sleep soundly at night. They have specialists there who really know how to deal with the various problems.

It was seeing my father in this dozing, tired state that was so painful for me. I was going home feeling sadness. But when I've seen him in the hospice, I was so glad to have met him. He joked, asked me where this plane went from (it was under the BRN approach path) and where these clouds go to. He was lying on the bed which had been rolled out into the garden, clothed only in his underpants, basking in the sun. One day, in the presence of his wife and his children, he sat upright on his bed, shoveling down a plate of spaghetti, saying "Who eats well, stays healthy." The next morning he was gone, in his sleep.

This is how I want to go myself, and everybody else.

I wish you all the best on your adventure. No patient has to suffer. Keep rocking and rolling as best as you can!

There are actually some good videos on youtube. I won't post the link here since they involve nudity and will get my post deleted, but just search for "testicular self exam" and you'll find them.

Sorry to see this, I could say all the canned stuff but as a cancer survivor I know it's sometimes hard to hear, but I do wish the best for you and your loved ones.

Truer words were never written. My nephew almost fell in the 5% category because he wasn't about to talk about his balls with his single-parent mother, or anyone for that matter. His cancer was discovered when he was hospitalized for back pains so severe a nurse had to help him bathe.

My best wishes for a dignified way out.

Oh hell, thank you so much for your lovely and kind words. I am going to die and it is quite scary but now that I have stopped traetment I feel a bit better in myself. I can enjoy the time that I have left with family and friends. I am not in too much pain (thankfully) and I am taking steroids and diazepam daily so I am mostly OK.

I was diagbosed back in 2013 with a very agressive and rare form of TC, I then had a testicle removed followed by Radiotherapy, which seemed to work for a bit but last year I was told it had come back and spread into my liver and lungs. I then had to start Chemotherapy but it has not worked. My last scan told that it had gone but I still had lesions on my liver and lungs. then on friday I was told that it was incurable and had spread into my brain.

I don't know how long I have but I intend to enjoy myself. Death will take us all but mine is sooner than I had hoped - for now, I am ok and can walk, talk and drink a glass of wine. i want one more spring and summer in the uk and i would love to take a long haul flight again if I can but we will see.

Right, it's 1.45 am in the morning in the UK and I am playing the fear card. So, we are all here as we are aviation fans so let's have a discussion. As you can all read, I will be long gone in 10 years but where do we see KL and AF? BA and IB? EK? Do we think the Me3 will still be as powerful?

Well, in ten years, Britain will be separated from the EU. It will be an island surrounded by a wall and Donald Trump will be your PM. BA will only accept white passengers and all others will be shipped to Denmark or something. In that case, BA will have the Confederate flag on the tail and will run between the UK and the US with a bit of Australia.

Or Britain will be still in the EU and BA and IB will merge. Yemen will join the EU so now it will be BA/IB/IY will be a big joint "Air Europe" carrier.

One thing: GO VEGAN!!! I think it is your last hope. Have you searched how it can make the difference on cancer cases, even on terminal cases?

Eating plenty of vegs, cereals, fruits can make a huge difference! Drop meats and dairy products imediatly also. The capacity of your body to fight cancer will increase drastically!

I would never dare to say I know how you feel. But twenty five years ago I faced an existential threat that turned out to be a misdiagnosis. It was a profound experience to say the least.

I am truly sorry you face this moment, especially so early in your life. You sound like such a positive fellow, which makes it even sadder.

I wish there was some way I (we) could help you feel less isolated, less alone in this situation? Is there anything we can do for you? I am certain that many of your fellow A-netters would love to do something to buck you up, to help you feel better.

Please, not... the cancer simply does not care what we eat. Not eating red meat has, for example, an effect on the colorectal cancer incidence, but not so on the course of the disease once diagnosed. And what are you going to say to him if he eats vegan and will be dead anyway?

There was once a theory about tumors craving for sugar. There was once a time when doctors tried to feed cancer patients less carbohydrates. But the tumor simply does not care... also because the body produces its own sugar.

His best bet is science. He has only one try. If you don't listen, some a.nutters will mess with you. We have doctors here. We have epidemiologists here.

It is quite the opposite actually, 95% of cancers are caused by external factors, mainly what we eat. Other external factors also have a say, like the environment we are exposed to, cigarret smoking, etc.

Do you know which country has the least amount cancer cases among the population? China is the answer, mainly because of the healthy eating habits. The numbers are even lower for the farmer population who eat mainly rice and other vegetables. Meat and dairy almost never get to the dinner table.

Back in the day, before the cancer boom started in the 70s, cancer was considered the rich man's desease. Poor people didn't have access to meat and dairy as everyone does nowadays. The 70s were the time when supermarkets and fast food chains started to become our main food supply. That industrialization of food production alowed pretty much everyone to eat big amounts of meat everyday as they pleased.

There is no encouragement whatsovever from the governments for this kind of knowledge to go public, even among doctors, as the cancer industry has become so profitable to the big health companies, especially Big Pharma, that it depends on a large number of pacients to stay alive.

Also, if you do your own reseach, you will find that there are already plenty of effective ways to defeat cancer, although they are not being implemented on conventional medicine and constantly being locked in the drower by big lobbyists as it would make the profitable cancer industry as it is disapear.

I coud go on and on with this, I have done extensive reseach. You will learn a lot more if you do the research yourself with your own patience and time rather having the information imposed by others like me. I am just trying to give out some information, as people need some kind of trigger to start thinking a bit more about it and start the research outside the maistream influences.

Check out about this on youtube, it will most likely make you change your mind. There is a ton of information on this out there on the internet. Check the accounts of terminal patients who were sent home by their doctors supposedly without a chance to survive and what a simple diet change as made to them.

As someone who had TC which spread to the Lymph nodes but the chemo managed to get rid off, I'm sorry to hear about it.

I was in a similar situation to you in that one of my testicles felt really weird and swollen but I thought it was normal and didn't bother going to the Doctor. Plus I couldn't really take time off from work for a check-up back then.

Until one day a testicular torsion sent me in pain to the ER. In hindsight, I guess that torsion saved my life.

All I can say, enjoy what time you have left. Being sad will only play into the diseases hands and while it might take your body, don't let it take your joy and happiness away.

Thanks all of you for the messages and I am only sorry that I can't respond individually to all of you. I only found out this news 4 days ago and to be honest, it is taking me all of my effort to understand it and get my head around it. Perhaps I was a bit hasty in posting but this site does help me. I need my distractions and this is one of them.

Please don't argue people, the vegan suggestion was only out of kindness I am sure but the horse has already bolted as they say and I very much doubt vegan food will help. Sorry to be blunt but I have terminal cancer, food will not save me. To be honest, I am going to eat whatever I like in the coming months. The steroids also seem to make me want to eat lots. i slept lots today but the weather was nice today so I went out for some tea and cake this afternoon. It was very nice  

Also to the person that aksed me where I would like to do a long haul flight to then it would be New Zealand I think. So many places to chose and no time but I have seen quite a lot of the world which makes me happy.

Hi brittannia25, I am not sure what I can add to this, and what has been said.

This touches so many people, and it is one of the sad facts of life.

I have lost two extended family members to cancer within the last five years. One thing that they and others said, is that they had a chance to say goodbye. Not everyone gets that, for example, in the tragedy of MH17.

I can relate just a slight slight slight slight bit...
A few weeks ago i discovered I had have suddenly gotten "third" testicle from nowhere. I had a business trip to Asia booked the next day, and I did not want to call my boss and say I am not going because of this reason.. Embarrassing!
So I got quite a few days to think during the trip. Scared the sh*t out of me not knowing what it was! I could not concentrate on anything else during the trip.
Visited the doctor when I got home, and after examining my private parts he said right away with confidence was nothing to be scared of. But they don't want to remove it because it can affect the fertility. Still thinking that the doctor might be wrong....

Just a side story. If you decide to go on a trip an visit Sweden I will buy you as many beers as you want!

The only thing I can add is that my brother-in-law was given 30 days to live and that was 15 years ago. Your body has not given up, don't let your mind give up.

Being a medical professional, I of course understand if you prefer comfort over more treatment, but have you looked in to clinical trials, or is that not an option?

I hope you enjoy every day there is to come.

I don't know what your beliefs are, whether that this is the only life we get, there is an afterlife, or reincarnation, but anyway you look at it, it'll be alright (I know, its easy for me to say that). But before any of that happens, fight this to the end.

Last summer I discovered a small lump on my stomach. Immediately went to the doctor to get it checked out, but thankfully it was harmless. I have a lot of anxiety, and one of my top fears is dying at a young age. Seeing a story like yours both saddens me and scares me.
