I Phone 6S Or SE?

Mon Apr 04, 2016 9:21 am

Trying to decide between the 6S and the new SE ?

I like the idea of a more compact phone, after a lot of research i'm leaning towards the SE.

Seeing that many people who try a larger phone find it cumbersome at first, but after a few days don't notice the size anymore and can't imagine going back to a small-screen phone which they then find "tiny", I'd definitely suggest trying the 6S first if you have any chance of doing so.

I agree.

I use a device with a 5.7" screen and have never said "this screen is too big", but my last device had a 4" screen and I quite often said "this screen is too small". Really too small. Especially for reading internet content and/or e-books.

The down size is that it weighs more. It still fits in shirt and pants pockets, but it's kind of annoying to keep in the pants pockets mostly due to its weight.

I don't find the device to be cumbersome to handle, but perhaps that's because I have large hands.

My device is already one generation out of date, and by the time my contract allows for replacement it will be two generations out of date, so I'm thinking the weight issue will dissipate with time.

Bottom line, I'm never going back to a device with a smaller screen size.

Try them both in your hand. Their functions are close to identical.

I have a 5. I would like to get a 6 because I do a lot of computing on the phone. For example I signed a pdf contract a couple weeks ago within the phone. The bigger screen is probably good, but I could not go 6s Plus myself.

I have a 6s plus and without a cover on, it's the perfect size smartphone. I couldn't imagine going back to a standard iPhone 6 or anything smaller.

On the other hand though, I really like the design of the iPhone SE which I find to be the best looking iPhone ever (together with the iPhone 5 which is identical)

I held out for the 5SE and really glad I did. I am so glad I did not make the mistake of getting the 6S. Today I was out all day 9-6 and still had 52% of battery and was making calls , surfing the net and checking emails quite a bit. Impressed with the camera and certainly a lot faster than my 5S. So far a happy 5SE owner.

I have an iPhone 6+ and cannot imagine myself ever going down in screen size. As far as design and form-factor, the iPhone 5 / 5S / 5SE did it for me, but jeez was that screen tiny for a smartphone.

I do most of my work on the phone throughout the day - phone/email/contracts/PDFs/spreadsheets and I can't beat the size of my 6+.

It really comes down to how you use the phone and what is the best fit for you personally, no one here will be able to answer that on your behalf.

I currently have a 5s which is the same size as the 5se - all in all, its good size to carry around in your pocket or your hand. The screen size is more than adequate for my needs but I do find the keyboard a tad too small. My contract is up later this year and while the 5se has peaked my interest, I do believe I'll be going up to the 6s myself. My girlfriend just traded her 4s for a 6s and loves it. Guess size does matter LOL!

Thanks for the input, I think i'm leaning towards the 6S now !

Not getting any younger and that larger screen and keyboard is much easier on the eyes.

It is a bit pricey though.

Wait until the end of summer when the 7 comes out - the 6s will drop in price.

Generally speaking, I think that once people start using larger screen phones they can't really go back to smaller screens. There are some people who genuinely want smaller phones, but I think most people would prefer larger screens once they actually use it.

A larger screen is always better; more information density and better content consumption. The only downside of a larger screen is a more bulky phone (duh) but the 6S is definitely not a phone that's uncomfortably large, it's a very comfortable phone to use.

So I'm saying make the jump and try out the larger iPhone, I don't know your specific needs but I think you will come to like the larger screen.

I tend to agree. I think Note-sized Phablets are oversized, but the premium smartphone standard of around 5" is really good.

Interestingly enough a good few of my friends have gone from 6S/Samsung/ LG ( all larger ) to the SE over the last few weeks.

I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra @ 6.44". My wife has a Samsung Note 3 and I find the 5.7" screen to be too small now..  .

I would settle for a 6" phone however.

Believe it or not, my next phone will be Windows-based. I once had (actually still own) a modified HTC HD7 (running Windows 7.8) and liked the Windows platform.
