Kansas mosque: Three men accused of plot to bomb Somalis

Sat Oct 15, 2016 7:59 am

Three men have been charged with plotting to bomb Somali immigrants at an apartment building and mosque in the US state of Kansas.

Curtis Allen, 49, Gavin Wright, 49, and Patrick Eugene Stein, 47, had gathered firearms and explosives for the attack, according to the US Justice Department.

The members of a militia group called the Crusaders also kept watch on the target in Garden City, officials said.

They allegedly planned to strike on 9 November, a day after the US elections.

The suspects had prepared a manifesto and conspired to detonate a bomb at apartments where Somalis were among some 120 residents, said prosecutors.

They allegedly discussed parking four explosives-packed vehicles at the corners of the complex to create a large blast in the meatpacking town.

Mr Stein offered to provide ammonium nitrate for the devices and contribute up to $300 (£246) for other materials, according to prosecutors.

If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

A thread on this topic already exists.

Or, is this a new tactic of the left - starting multiple threads on the same topic that will turn into anti-Trump threads...

Is this a new tactic of the right, accusing someone who made an innocent mistake of posting a leftist propaganda? ;)

Probably something the left learned from having been hit by several attempt to kill Obamacare, several attempts at Benghazi hearings, several attempts at "e-mail gate" hearings...

I must admit that I'm confused several relatively unrelated threads got closed, and two actual duplicates survived?

there's no explaining the moderation. They delete many comments but leave equally "offensive" posts in the same thread because they agree with them. Its so stupid.

They are showing their typical "protect me mommy" mentality most Europeans posses.

I'm not going to agree with you as such, but I do find it rather confusing. I got told to go fuck myself after I called someone a moron (we patched it up as much as we could), and that thread kept going.

A bunch of threads get closed as duplicate, which isn't really right, and two actual duplicates are still going?

I know moderating this site is hard work, and I won't criticise most of what some very good volunteers do, but....come on!

this is a problem with every website...you make moderators and they feel the need to interject themselves into every discussion because that's what they think they need to do. Why do we need "protection" from abusive posts? Are we not adults? Just ignore it like big boys and girls. Delete threats and illegal material and let people be free to talk. But when someone is given a hammer they start to see nails everywhere.

With all respect, Mod, make up your mind-this one on the Kansas situation or the other. We don't need both. Thank you.

Where have I defended terrorists? I find terrorism abhorrent.

That's proving my point though. Having an unpopular opinion is grounds for being banned. Dare not criticize the moderators because they might ban you for hurting their feelings and having an opinion contrary to what each individual moderator believes. There's zero consistency.

You do know the moderators are just as likely to be American, Asian or Australasian as European? Perhaps not.

I'm referencing specific moderators who are well known to have certain biases.

It would be hard to disagree with that observation.

For the past few weeks I've seen many, and had some of my own, posts deleted within 20 mins or so.

To leave an entire duplicate thread for so long is very questionable.

19 posts in this duplicate thread now. 33 in the original thread.

Moderators might not be able to read every single post and depend on users reporting offensive posts, flame bait or duplicated posts. Once a report is made, moderators will investigate and make a decision. Has anyone actually requested that this thread be deleted using the report function?

I certainly hope nobody has reported it. Because why? Who cares if its a duplicate or has gone off topic? Just read it and move on if its not to your liking. Its gone off topic because the users have decided to take it off topic.
