North Carolina Republican HQ 'Firebombed'

Mon Oct 17, 2016 4:42 am

http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/16/politics/ ... andalized/

Someone has burned down the NC GoP HQ. Forensic investigators determined a fire was started by a liquid that was ignited in the building, as well as a Molotov Cocktail. I'm glad no one was hurt.

I understand this will cause some Democrat v. Republican fights. Just try to keep it clean.

So local Democratic activists have raised over $13k to help the GOP office re-open as quickly as possible. Currently, there is no information as to who the perpetrators might be. A Swastika and a threatening message directed at "Nazi Republicans" was spray-painted on a nearby building. To me, that is suspicious. It seems as if we are meant to think that leftists are responsible, but in a situation like this I'd give it even odds.

Either way, regardless of who is responsible, I of course condemn political violence in the strongest terms. We have elections precisely so that we do not have to resort to violence.

The response of both candidates are, shall I say, rather interesting

DT - https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/sta ... 3633208320
HC - https://twitter.com/HillaryClinton/stat ... 7308418052

In any case, this is what happens when you have an emotionally charged campaign - rationality thrown out of the window.

That's not cool.

It would be hilarious* if it was a nutcase during a peaceful midterm period, but not now.

*=Similar has happened to the party I support, and I laughed.

Errr...the ongoing and accurate joke that Trump is the same shade as the orange juice I'll buy at the train station in a few hours?

Or if you thought I was asking Jesus to explain, I'm not in the mood for another English lesson.

They just can't win legitimately. Its laughable.

We see this with liberal eco terrorism and now actual political terrorism.

Politics in the USA has got to calm down.

Yes, of course. Its all about distractions from the issues in this election cycle. When was the last time policy has been talked about other than the bullet points?

No, and I couldn't care less about someone's grammar on here. I get it now, at first I thought perhaps you were making a statement or thought they were about Orange County being very conservative, and while I am sure it is in NC too, the more famous one is in CA.

Another typical "broad brush" comment by a right winger.

It really speaks about character to read the reactions of both candidates.

A conservative political headquarters was bombed by a liberal terrorist and yet I'm the one who's out of line.

Now that's funny!

Yeah, you're right...someone with beliefs that align with the republican party decided to firebomb a republican headquarters. Makes total sense. And you wonder why we are where we are with logic like this? SMH fam.

You mean like the logic of the candidate who mocked every other candidate, making up disparaging names (like "Lyin' Ted", "Small Rubio", "Pocohantas") complaining about being mocked?

Could be. Someone might have thought "if we make it look like Hillary did it, Trump will win." Or it could be an IS sympathizer. Or it could be a Stein voter. Or it could be some college kid who thought it would be a funny prank.

Without solid facts, there is no way of knowing. Unless you are a right winger. Apparently you all know everything. The election (that has not happened yet) is rigged, after all. We know that because Trump said it. If Trump said it, it must be true, right?

At least that's directed at politicians unlike Hillary who calls millions of Americans deplorable and her husband, a former President, considers most republicans "rednecks." That's great language for a leader to use, too, huh.

May I recommend you start with a viable candidate. Had you nominated Rubio, or Kasich, or Scott Walker you'd probably be up 7 points on Hillary.

Or to calls supporters "animals" or calls the entire press to be against them?

This is of course silly, tit for tat name calling it useless and just annoying really. But why complain that you are being called names or mocked when that is what has always happened? And especially when you (Trump) are one that embraces such tactics?

The firebombing is just wrong, violence is never be an option in our election process. It is abhorrent and disgraceful and whoever does such should be prosecuted to the full extent.

We are talking about who is best to elect as President of the United States of America. To represent us in the world, to interact with world leaders and responds to global and national issues. That is not a "Party" thing, that is a "Of the options, who would be the best in that position". Can you honestly say that Trump has the best abilities for that?

And I'll keep coming back to taxes, anyone who recommends tax cuts loses my votes unless they have a clear plan that can be vetted and shown to work. We are in debt and each year runs a deficit. Fiscal responsibility means you pay your way, it does not mean you gamble and bet that if you reduce your income you can reduce what you spend to balance out. It means you address the shortfall first, once you have it under control THEN you can move on to other things. I have herd nothing from Trump that indicates he will be fiscally responsible or conservative.

I think those tactics on both sides are not needed. Hillary is above those sorts of things and it disappointing to me when she went low like that. I will still be voting for her though because she's the lesser of two bad candidates.

No need to apologize.

I call out both sides for everything shady they do. I am not on "a team." Shame most can't get past partisan politics to do the same. Clinton is a bad choice. Trump is a bad choice. But we only have two choices.

Did you ever consider that maybe it was the work of someone on the far right who believes the mainstream GOP is not conservative *enough*?

The fact is, no one really knows any facts right now. It could be a liberal activist, it could be a conservative one, it could be a drunk guy with too many fireworks. What is important is that no one was hurt and that the office be re-opened (yes as a liberal I think it is important that a GOP office be re-opened). Thankfully there is a crowdfunded movement to provide funds to do that.

I don't care about party. There are some really good non-Democratic candidates out there. What really needs to happen is to get back to some of the things the Founding Fathers wanted. One of those was no political parties.

Kasich would be handing Clinton's ass to her. (I'm a lifelong Republican and I wanted Kasich, so I may be biased. I certainly didn't want Trump...)

Anyway, my first thought was that it was a Democrat who did this, but now I'm not so sure. The "Nazi Republicans" and swastika are kind of suspicious. It could be a BLM supporter (probably a Democrat, but not necessarily) or it could even be far-right movement trying to frame the Democrat Party.

Of course, the violence is truly deplorable (see, Hillary, that's the correct use of that word). I am just glad that no one was in the office when it happened.
