Things we'd like to go away in 2017

Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:33 am

Here we go, time for things we'd like to go away in 2017: For me, the obvious, cruelty to animals and children, pain and suffering, poverty disease, hunger etc.
And some of my not so obvious choices of course in no particular order:
[*] The Bush Crime Family
[*] The Clinton Crime Family
[*] The Kartrashians/Kanye West
[*] Justin Ghetto Beiber
[*] Hip Hop/Rap
[*] Boy Bands
[*] Hipsters
[*] Excessive Political Correctness- When it's taken too far. i.e. you can't identify someone by their sex, afraid to perform comedy on college campuses. I could go on and on but...
[*] Christmas Creep/music and commercials before Thanksgiving and after Christmas. At BWI we are stull subjected to Christmas Music and we are already approaching the 28th. of December
[*] Open borders
[*] Isis
[*] Al Queda
[*] West Bourough Baptist Church
[*] Barbara Streissand, Cher,
[*] Reality TV
[*] NBA and College Basketball
[*] Cardboard slop passing itself off as pizza-Pizza Butt, Poppa John's, Dominoes
[*] Apple CEO Cook
[*] Pokeyman Go

Oh, same as last year, this time multiplied by 10:

ISIS and their hate
Putin and his cronies
Wille Walsh and IAG

Not necessarily in that order . . .

I want all of the fools on BOTH sides of the political spectrum to just be quiet and let things happen.

Trump is a jackass, and Hillary didn't win. We can't change the past, but hopefully we can all act like adults going forward.

Besides the obvious such as racism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, poverty, crime etc.:

-America's 2-party system
-the Electoral College (whether they picked Trump or Clinton)
-NIMBYs (you're fine with cars who are potentially driven by drunks or crazy teenagers going through your neighborhood, but a train driven by a professional on tracks that existed long before your house is where you draw the line?)
-Trump
-the irrational part of the Republican Party
-the alt Right
-crappy sitcoms
-climate change
-people who deny climate change
-political corruption
-business corruption
-memes that try to push bullsh*t as facts
-bias in the media
-crappy reporting by the media

I want to see the strife and suffering in Libya and Syria go away.
I want ISIL to be defeated.
I want white supremacist terrorists to be defeated.
I want tyrants of all kinds to step down.
I want the gross mistreatment of First Nations peoples to stop.

Forgot Kim Jung Un! However, I like kittenish Lilly from the phone commercials. Toyota Jan is just a leggy bimbo and Flo is getting old in the tooth and a little wide in the thighs and tummy.

1. Excessive political correctness in the US (Although with Mr. Trump taking office soon, I very well may get my wish with this one)
2. ISIS
3. The Syrian civil war
4. Millennials being clueless morons (I'm a Millennial and I am so embarrassed to be associated with this age group, we are such dumb idiots)
5. Racism
6. Crybaby liberals
7. People who think America is awful. If you think America is so bad, when can I help you pack your bags so you can leave?
8. People being offended by anything and everything
9. Christmas stuff starting even before Halloween
10. The excessive amounts of pumpkin spice things in the fall
11. Congress not having term limits

{bigthumbsup}

Good list! Regarding Millennials: They got that way in part thanks to us (Baby Boomers). We started a lot of this new morality malarkey! Having babies out of wedlock, drugs, selfishness, entitlements, Dr. Spok with his wharped child rearing advice. Y'all just took the baton and ran with it. Number 8 people having a thin skin is so true. It's the death of humor. Case in point, check out the thread in Civil Aviation regarding obese passengers and the exit slides. One poster had the audacity to refer to the hefty folk as blimps! OMG time for that fellow A-Netter to be sent to a PC indoctrination camp broadcasting round the clock Oprah Winfrey and PBS drivel so they can be a good little PC soldier. Here's the post and a reply. The person was oh so offended. He needs a latte, hug and participation trophy. I agree with the other posters that the slides are not a worry. But most overwing emergency exit doors are only 19-20" wide. There are some blimps who could possibly get wedged in there, blocking the exit for everyone behind them. Maybe certain passengers -- say ones who need a seat belt extender -- should only be seated close to forward or aft doors and not emergency exits. Or if they must use an overwing exit the crew should make sure they go out last so nobody can get trapped behind them.

Not that it matters to anyone but me, but the next time I book, I'm booking my trip away from Alaska. Your "blimp" comment was completely gratuitous and unnecessary, and as an employee of Alaska you should represent better. It'll be under $1000 so no skin off AS' nose, but I'll feel better.

And for me another thing I'd like to go away: All the yahoos who stole my party away from me. I'm a moderate to conservative Democrat and my party just about cast me out into the abyss. I'm a 60 year young male not from the hip cities of Chicago, NYC, LA, San Francisco, Denver, Boston, Austin and Seattle. I and my ilk were called deplorables. That went over like Christmas music after Christmas, Justin Beiber and a load of turds. Happy New Year my friend!

Re: numbers 6 and 7, the cookie cutter conservative gripes. I'm a conservative, see, look how conservative I am.

And aren't points 5 and 8 contradictory? One of our great conservative politicians decreed that you "should have the right to bigotry".

I had to look up millenial, as I'm obviously not one.

I'm not going to wish for anything to go away in 2017. I'm just going to focus on my one goal for next year. Going to be a lot of hard work (and already started). But worth it.

What I would like to see is less "crying" from you radical left wing lunatics in 2017 and beyond but I doubt I will see that. For you people who disparage Trump for intolerance and lack of inclusion you all have shown by far more intolerance than he EVER has. I saw a story of a Publix supermarket in Cape Coral FL that put a national enquirer paper that had Trump and his family on it behind a plastic sleeve like you would see a Playboy or Penthouse magazine to keep from "offending" patrons. Can you even imagine the fallout if they had done that to a mag that had Obama and his family on the cover. But back to topic what I would like to see go away in 2017 or any year is the following.
1. Animal Cruelty and Sport/Trophy hunting
2. Commercials. Way too many of them especially drug companies and that damn clown from Minnesota and his crappy pillow.
3.. Everything Zippyjet posted especially RAP MUSIC and Political Correctness and ISIS.

There are twelve days of Christmas according to tradition. :wink2: But hey, some businesses are ahead of the pack. Here in Australia, Woolworth's had hot cross buns for sale on boxing day (the second day of Christmas or the Feast of St Stephen) while Target got in with their Easter Eggs.

Things to go:
the term political correctness which simply means, "I disagree with you and am whining that I can't get my way"; and
blaming the younger/ older generation for societal ills. There is no such thing as Generation X, Y Z, or Baby Boomers. People are individuals not a homogeneous mass who are exact clones because of when they were born.

Okay the serious stuff for me. :duck:

1) Bad drivers: Excessive honking, three car spaces at the red light, asleep at the light when it turns green.

2) Rage, road rage, air rage, mall rage: Leave the first world problems at the door once in a while.

3) Sensationalist cable news: "Breaking News" does not need to fill half the screen.

4) People who cant agree to disagree. Difference of opinion outside of the fringe does not make the other man a communist, fascist or other epithet.

5) Gamer bashing: Come on most gamers don't live solitary lives with no girlfriend/boyfriend, live in moms basement and are only boys and teens, almost have of gamers are female and gamers span all ages, not just kids. Statistics prove that game violence very rarely ever leads to physical violence but aspects of the media and parents right groups would like to prove otherwise. Many of them have personalities ranging from shy to extrovert and many of them have kids, spouses, and jobs.
