When's the last time you were carded?

Fri Apr 21, 2017 8:41 pm

I was reading about someone who was incensed that he was carded. My response,... wait... Because someday you will be incensed that you AREN'T carded!

For me, last time was ON my 35th birthday (11 years ago). I was in a restaurant and ordered wine.

My husband, seven years my senior, was unhappy that he looked too old to be carded!

Since this is an aviation forum; I'll just note that I have seen some European airlines being very liberal with who they serve alcohol too. I don't think I've seen anyone asked for proof of age on any Euro-airline I've been on.

Last week when I had to prove I qualified for a senior's discount on a cinema ticket! Bu that's probably not what you meant. :old:

Never. I didn't buy alcohol before being 16 and at that age it is (was) legal to buy for me. Now it's 18. But parents can still buy and give it to children.

In KY it's a bit more lax, but when I lived in Georgia, I got carded pretty much every time. Whenever my father came to visit, he would get carded too - he's 75.

About 1999-2000, at Federal Way, Washington (near Seattle) a convenience store had been fined for underage sales of tobacco products. The chain issued orders that every customer had to be carded. They turned down a 75+ year old gray-haired grandmother who didn't have a photo ID. I was a grey-haired grandfather, with ID, and bought the cigarettes for her.

That was the only place where I have remember ever being carded. I might have had to show a driver's license to buy a beer when I was 18. I never had a draft card.

LOL, the legal drinking age was 18, but at 16-years-old I was well over 6'2" and about 190 lbs with a mustache so nobody ever asked me.

Does being asked by an officer for "license and registration" count? :D
(Actually that has been MANY years).

For just regular stuff like entrance somewhere or to buy something its every couple months or so.

Asked for I.D while buying beer at a store in Minneapolis with a friend in 2010, sadly that was the last time.
People have always guessed my age at 5 to 10 years younger than I am, I guess that's a plus.

Around 8 years ago, at a TGI in New York. I laughed so hard it hurt, asked if the waitress was trying to pull me and then laughed some more while I dug out the passport. The look on the waitress' face was priceless.

Outside of the US, not since I turned 16. Which is a long, long time ago.

Silly me. I thought that you were asking when was the last time that I was sent of for bad sportsmanship. Lol.

In some parts of Australia it was/is the practice to ask for ID when selling alcohol in bars and/or stores as in some areas there were/are local laws that allowed people to be banned from buying liquor if they have been involved in unruly behaviour.

Here's an example from Queensland. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensl ... txlp7.html

I've been asked for ID a few times when I was into (and beyond) my 40s, at places that have a policy that everyone's ID is checked, no exceptions. That included the old Shea Stadium in NY, and Harry Caray's Restaurant in Midway Airport.

I only get carded where they are forced to card anymore. I buy beer at a grocery store, and the 18 year old has already cleared the charge before i can look up. I think the lack of hair on the top of my head is an automatic old guy cue.

Yesterday and I am 43. However, bud tenders card everyone when buying marijuana.
