Amazon paid no US Taxes on 5.6 billion.

I cannot wait to hear the defense of this from our friends who do pay taxes and still defend this corrupt system of taxes. Note the amount they will save from Trumps tax cuts for the wealthy.

I'll defend it. They have had losses for years, they have likely banked significant "loss carry forward" deductions. Their business plan is to accept losses to encourage growth and that has worked well for them.

BTW, I will note thought that the people in the company that make money likely all pay taxes on their income. I offer this as a company can "lose money", be unprofitable by paying out more in expenses, salaries etc. but companies and people that they paid do in turn pay their own taxes based on their profitability. So taxes are paid somewhere. (I always like to point out to my conservative friends that complain about wasted tax dollars, that in fact no dollars are actually wasted that get paid to people who actually do the work, that actually use the money to live. That money goes into circulation and adds to the economy directly. The tax dollars/money that gets "wasted" are those that go to ultra-wealthy that horde the money and stuff it into savings or hide in offshore to avoid taxes.)

Fun question for cocktail parties: Who has been more profitable over the past 5 years? Amazon or Best Buy?

Amazon has also collected and remitted loads of taxes at state and local levels. Their federal tax bill will come due eventually.

I wouldn't fault Amazon for not paying taxes. If I have to point at someone, I would fault the tax system, the people that created and maintain the laws.

Of course not, Amazon used the system and you will note I said the corrupt system of taxation. The Trump tax cuts certainly did not address that problem as usual.
