Your fault. Check for firmness before taking a bite.

I could never really get into strawberries; however I love white flash nectarines and this is just the right time of year for them in Minnesota

However, the ones I bought at the Lund's on University Avenue the other day were underripe.

Perhaps today they are less so.

I ate three yellow nectarines this past week.

The first was perfect - soft, juicy, and very sweet.
The second sucked - exactly the opposite of the first.
The third was OK - right in between 1 and 2.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

Now I've never been keen on nectarines, I think I may have been put off by a grub in one when I was a kid. Peaches and Mangos, now there is some good eating, messy, but good.

Gross.

Minnesota-grown white-flesh nectarines are the way to go. You owe it to yourself.

I had some mango bits earlier, but honestly I’ve had better.

Is 'underripe' same as raw? Are there degrees between raw and ripe that describe underripe? Are there fruits that are best if eaten when they are underripe?

The correct stone fruit is the pluot.

I have never had a nectarine - shocking as that may be to some. My favorite stone fruit would be peaches, followed by cherries. Not so keen on plums or apricots. Don't even know what a pluot is (I know, I've led a sheltered life)

Had to look it up myself. Some sort of genetically mutated thing because people can't just accept things the way they are

If we just accepted things the way they are, we'd still be living in caves trying to figure out combustion.

And, as I recall, a pluot is not a genetically modified food, it is a hybrid.

I haven't had a nectarine in years. My uncle had a nectarine tree, among other fruit trees, growing in his front yard in, what was, a small suburb of Athens. I spent my summers eating nectarines, figs, apricots, peaches and oranges...or maybe they were tangerines. My memory is cloudy on that part. There were lemons trees, also. You'll understand that I didn't just eat those, but made lemonade.

I would have to say that my favorite fruit is watermelon, seedless or seeded, it does not matter with just a pinch of salt.

Oh, and ripe plums. I like me some ripe plums.

A pluot ("ploo-aht") is a hybrid between a plum and an apricot. They are delicious and they help you poo.

I like both the slivowitz (plum brandy) and the barack palinka (apricot brandy). I wonder how would a pluot brandy taste. I assume it would be good too.

I dated a Yogoslavian girl whose father, I swear, made this stuff in his bathtub on the Lower Eastside. Ahhhh, if I could remember those days, I bet they’d be good memories.

I love underripe nectarines. I like most of my fruit crunchy/tart over soft/sweet.
