I laughed so hard at this that the people working around me are now claiming I am certifiably insane.

Clearly the best franchise is Starship Troopers.

Would you like to know more?

In all seriousness Stargate franchise is the best.

Dr. Who is infinitely the most incorrect nerd franchise.

I would like to throw my vote in for Star Trek to be the correct choice.

And not a franchise, but I would like to add a mention for Ascension. They should made more, the end of the one and only series left questions.

The only two "nerd franchises" I actually am interested in are Big Bang Theory and Red Dwarf. I don't feel it is my place to change anyone's mind about the best or greatest. If they want to waste their time burning their eyeballs out and kill brain cells on drivel, that is their business....

EDIT:

If you think about it, any show could be a sci-fi show. Think about it: Let's take "Keeping Up Appearances." Sure, there COULD be sisters named Rose, Violet, Daisy, and Hyacinth. Sure, they COULD live around Manchester, England. But, to have all those things happen they way they do, it could just be a documentary about an alternate timeline. And there is your sci-fi angle.

It is way too early to think like this. I'm going back to bed....

It's a bit of a cult following. I'll definitely agree to that. I just like how they turned traditional sci-fi norms on their head and were at least somewhat successful with it. Even if the themes in the show were fairly predictable.

Serenity the follow-on movie was also quite good. "I'm a leaf on the wind."

Glad someone posted a pic of "Dark Helmet" from Spaceballs. I couldn't help thinking about that every time I saw Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens - he wore the mask for no reason. Who knew Mel Brooks was so clairvoyant?

I belong to an Adventure Time fan page on FB. They latest is the final episode will be September 3. One poster said something like "I am not ready for this to end..." and I agree. Will Simon ever remember Betty? Sweet Pea just got a second horn and says he has terrible dreams. I can't.

I actually like Last Jedi. Just kind of hated the fact that Luke died. But then agian, with the action Yoda got, do Jedi really die?

I need to see Solo as well. I just have a hard time after digesting Last Jedi.

Spaiceballs was awesome. I think we have reached Ludicrous speed though.

I would not call it utterly bad (or Justice League bad) but it was not really Star Wars either. The alien races were mostly used for jokes only and the casino setting had nothing against the cantina.

Yes if you're 9 years old.

I'm with Trekkies. Being born and raised as one of them.

Star Wars meh... "The Empire strikes back" is ok, maybe also "The return of the Jedi" but all others are rubbish imho.
Babylon 5 also meh.
Firefly never seen - I think it never came here.
May I suggest "The Flash". It was nice imho. Nice photography, good acting, very good sceneries. Also very 1990s - very Vaporwave.

Edit, I forgot "The Twilight Zone". And its today's remake, "Black Mirror". Very good.

After finishing both seasons of Westworld, I'm now a huge fan.

I even like the original camp 70's Westworld movie.

HBO's westworld has definitely been very good. It's a shame anthony hopkins wasn't utilized more. I love his acting.

"The Last Jedi" was a major disappointment for me. Just a horrid plot. "Solo"? I'll probably never watch it. Directed by Ron Howard? Really? I guess the original directors that were fired weren't bringing enough "vanilla" to the project.

George Lucas certainly is a genius. He saw the writing on the wall and bailed. Perfect timing.............

I can't agree, I don't think the gigantic franchises really qualify for nerdom anymore. Star Trek (I love) Star Wars (also enjoy), Marvel (loved comics, waiting for the New Mutants get their own :irked: ) etc. are too damn big and enjoyed by way to many people now to be truly a proper "nerd franchise". Even Dr. Who, which I really think is a nerd show all the way, has basically gotten too much fandom now to be "nerdy". Nerds are outcasts (somewhat at least) and mocked for what the books or series they love!

For me the "correct nerd franchise" would need to be something off the path a bit. Ones like:

Babylon 5 (mentioned here already)

Stargate

And then there is animated which is often equally worthy:
Futurama (actually a really great series)

Maybe Star Wars Clone Wars (it's the EU not star wars proper really)

You could include some anime like GitS or Robotech and Neon Genesis Evangelion but anime tends to be a pocket market of its own nerdom.

Just my opinion.

I was getting ready to go to war with you but this is extremely true. I've binge watched Futurama so many times that ive lost count. It's a brilliant show, especially the first 5 seasons. Luck of the Fryrish actually makes me tear up!
