The correct Christmas song

is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

A melody as lovely as you like while still being modest and neither maudlin nor hokey or shrill.

I’m sure I just read this as the correct Christmas snog? I had a long winded and wistful answer lined up but alas you mentioned a song and music isn’t my strong point.

When I was 3/4 I had a seizure because my body/brain temperature became too high and I had to spend both my birthday and Christmas in hospital (over a month) with a big wire net on my head checking I was still normal (as normal as I ever was). I received a gift of the cassette of “Merry Xmas Everyone” by Slade/Noddy Holder. I was the first music I owned and that song stuck with me for ever.

The First Noel. Sung by a lady with powerful lungs. It seems like in all of the modern recordings of this song the artist is on Ambien and can barely get it out. The song was written for someone who can hit the high notes.

Hell no. What kind of asshole family lets their drunk grandma walk home by herself in the snow on Christmas Eve? First, is it even critical for her to go home? She might want to partake in the morning activities, just give her the guest bed! Or, if she does really need to go home, no one can give her a ride? Seriously, reindeer or Santa, her death is on the whole family.

You misunderstand; she went out on the walk on her own volition. She was looking for Little Red Riding Hood, who had gotten lost in the forest...

Responsible people don't let her walk out on her own, especially if she's drunk. You make sure she ends up in a good place. Like I said, F her family, and that disqualifies it from being the correct Christmas song.

Any of them that people now find offensive. Like Santa Baby, Baby it’s cold outside...nothing like watching offended snowflakes melt in the winter.

Speaking as a Jew (who will gladly listen to Christmas music year round), there are a couple of songs that there’s nothing wrong with them, but they’re SO overplayed they get annoying within the first few hours of nonstop Christmas music (which I have no problem with). IMHO, Feliz Navidad, Merry X-mas, and Wonderful Christmastime are played way too much.

Oddly enough, I like some of the more religious songs like Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, etc.

One of my trips to Israel (it has generally worked out that I go around Christmas), most of the hostel guests were going to Bethlehem and Nazareth on Christmas Day. There was nothing to really the night of the 24th. I stood outside on a major street in Jerusalem singing with some carollers. I started laughing hysterically when I saw a young guy and his wife/girlfriend walking into the hostel...the place was completely booked. True story.
