The home page for Notre Dame does not seem, at first reading, a good source for all of the architectural engineering nerdy wonky stuff that I would like to read. Anybody have better links? I suspect one of the French news media might be better.

Fair use excerpt from the article
Just 20 people are expected to take part, including priests and canons from the cathedral.

Did you read it? (I already know the answer and I also know your answer).

Then why asked the question??? Oh.. :stirthepot:

...my only point is 'services have once again been restored'...that's it. True or false?

I could careless if the drapes don't match. Actually, I could careless if services were held in a tent, airports have accommodated more in much less.

There are enough churches in Paris to accommodate the flock 10 times over, as pretty much nobody goes to church these days. If people used to go to mass there, there was a reason. And service is not restored for them.

There is a second design using glass - closer to the original design.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/ ... ame-glass/

The best part of this design is the night view (top pic in the article).

The problem with glass (besides weight) is the fact that the locals will hate it t the start - just like they hated the glass pyramid at the Louvre. The pyramid is now considered a landmark for tourists and is also pretty effective in helping the management of tourist flows.

I think the glass would need to be less reflective, and likely a bronze or grayer color. The 'roof' of cathedrals generally have not been their more conspicuous features. A modern roof needs to follow that convention.

So far, Americans have been footing most of the restoration bills as the large French donors who made the big splashes are not interested in paying for the mundane things, such as paying the staff cleaning up 300 tons of lead roofing...

The Friends of Notre Dame de Paris was founded in 2017, and its president, Michel Picaud, estimates that 90% of the donations it has received have come from American donors.
