I am sorry to say this, but I hope that the evening in particular for Trump is ruined by massive thunderstorms.
The 4th of July is the day in which the Declaration of Independence saw its first signatures, a peaceful act of defiance, not violence or war. Celebrating the day with a display of our military might is an insult to the meaning of the day. This is a massive ego trip by Pres. Trump, a way to push for loyalty to him, not so much our country, by a President who is far from being a real patriot, just some money grubbing jerk. I can't wait for the day he is out of office by losing in 2020, Impeached and removed or dies a natural death and we can return to sanity.

Yes, and living all my life in New Jersey thick with places connected with the War for Independence I am aware of it. The War had been going on for months before the Declaration, and continued for several years. My point is that we should celebrate our independence, the creation of our nation, not have it become a celebration of war. We have other days to recognize our military, our losses of lives in wars.

He’s most likely to be re-elected / impeached for what / you just lowered yourself below what you think of him by wishing death to someone / what kind of sanity would we return to ?

Trump is taking a non-partisan event and turning it into something else. Typical pathetic cowardice from the lying racist.
The RNC is giving out tickets,
they have moved the fireworks display,
They are showing military might on a day where we declared our independence from a country that ruled by military might.

Trump should be ashamed, but he has no conscience.

What he says on July 4th will be watched closely.

Talk about the biggest case of SPS I've ever seen.

I'm sure Congress (in particular, the GOP-led Senate) will approve funds to repair the streets in DC if they're damaged by tanks. Or is this one of those "you're on your own" scenarios?

It looked "cool" in Paris and the dictators he loves oh, so much do this all the time. He just wants to look like the ones he admires. That money could be spent on veteran's care or health care in general or education or hiring more agents to process the migrants at the border being held in cages and tents with no hygiene products

The U.S. demonstrates its power by the mere fact that the world knows we have the baddest, most sophisticated and lethal weapons on the planet. We never have to flaunt them to show them off and basically have a proverbial d/(& measuring contest. We just sit back and rest assured the world knows not to mess with us. Rolling tanks down the street and flying out jets over the parade is flashy and in poor taste. What is wrong with this man?

People are trying to already find out the cost associated with this political rally Trump is trying to throw. It will be very interesting to see the fallout. Word is , he will try to highlight homelessness, in order to further blame the liberal cities. This homelessness theme is something that has come up regularly lately on right wing shows and radio. They like to blame folks, but offer no solutions.

He operates on the basic level and premise of a bully. That is what he is and knows. And it works, it has served him well for a long time. He did in business forever, he grew up rich having more power than other kids and learned that lesson.

So now he is a bigger bully as the leader of the USA, richer with more powerful backing than ever before. He is who he is and is subject to his learned habits. He can't stop and is not able to think of more than "it works!" His limitations are obvious to most everyone and the world as well.

But still being a bully works. Not that I would ever allow my kids or people I am with be one. Some people just have lower or no standards.

He says nothing at all about bowing to one president's demands. The original wars for independence were ordinary people fighting. Not one man believing he is superior to everyone and "HEY!!! LOOK AT ME!!!" He says nothing about celebrating "your favorite president: ME!!" to quote the occupant of the White House. What he is wanting is what dictators do. He is making it about him and his faction of the Republican party. Not the country.

He did not even serve in the military and whines about veterans every chance he gets.

Well they still have not repaid DC for the inauguration, why would you think they would pay for any repairs ?

I hope that no one watches Trump's 'speech' in person or on TV. Sadly CNN and FoxNews will show it. His hijacking for his ego and micromanaging of the events are beyond foolish. Oh, then on Friday, he is going to spend the weekend playing golf at his NJ club. What a waste he is.

Depends on the city. Houston and Salt Lake City have made huge improvements. But let's be honest--you don't actually care about the homeless and you definitely don't care to learn about any solutions, especially because they'd require talking about healthcare and affordable housing, neither of which are solved by bibles, tax cuts, or guns. You just like using it as a distraction. When was the last time the right proposed anything remotely effective at reducing homelessness, poverty, and improving mental health?

Something to watch for tomorrow, and it really highlights Trump's psyche.

I think Hydrogen as a flammable is already restricted in the park. I think people were thinking they would have to use regular "Bounce House:" blowers.

Depends on the city. Houston and Salt Lake City have made huge improvements. The mayor said the tanks will damage the street/bridges; which is why they refused it every other time he's asked and she expects the government to cover all damage costs. She then went on to say the city were still waiting for re-reimbursement from the inaugural, 2 years ago. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were her, seeing as they haven't paid a almost 3 year old bill.

Don't see anything wrong with a yearly military parade showing off cool toys. Especially in the states where you guys are pretty gung ho about your armed forces. However I do think that said toys should be atleast looking like they get some TLC...

Can't agree with you here. These parades can be used to build up national pride and unity. Not a show of force to trump up one's image. And thats one thing I noticed in the US, is that you have quite a bit of pride in your armed forces. So I don't see the harm in "democracy" from having a parade or two that is supposed to bring people together. Especially now when your nation is so split.

However since it is so split I guess that there really isn't anything Trump can do that will make the other side happy. Anything he does is just discarted by the guys that are against pretty much anything he does.

I always thought Independence Day was about celebrating what makes America great and our history and who we are as a nation. Not about one person. It was not ONLY George Washington who defeated the British. It was not ONLY Abraham Lincoln who defeated the traitorous South. It was not ONLY Eisenhower who defeated Hitler. Those took thousands of men and women.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

Glad Trump is trying to make July 4th into a bigger celebration. Sad so many hate him and the people the vote for him so much they want it to go poorly.

Btw previous Presidents spoke on July 4th all the time.

And DC Military parades have included nuclear missiles. See here...

Of course, there are those who seem to crave a return to a more militaristic posture - and the narcissist-in-chief seems to me among them. By inserting himself (and military tanks, over the military’s objections) into the event, and by conflating a celebration of American independence with a celebration of himself, Trump is trying to twist one of the few nonpartisan spectacles this country has left into an endorsement of the ugly policies he stands for, which includes “border security” so brutal, inhumane, and ineffective that people are dying in American custody.

It would be, though, more fitting to line the Mall with golf carts, in this case.
