Updated: Raiders, Allegiant Agree On Naming Rights Deal For Las Vegas Stadium

Sat Aug 03, 2019 4:15 am

If you had G4 purchasing the naming rights to the Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders' new stadium... congratulations, you're a winner!

https://footballstadiumdigest.com/2019/ ... ghts-deal/

On the surface, it sounds weird, but G4 has a major presence at LAS compared to its other stations, so I guess the deal makes sense...

Not only is LAS a major station for them, but they are headquartered in Las Vegas, and are quite active in the community (doing charity work, sponsoring events, etc.), so I think the deal actually makes quite a lot of sense. Allegiant seems to take a good deal of pride in Las Vegas as their home city, and I think it’s cool that a local company that isn’t directly involved with gaming was able to secure the naming rights to the stadium. I’d equate it to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the United Center in Chicago, or Alaska Airlines Field (at Husky Stadium) in Seattle. It is kind of interesting for a low-cost airline to be doing it, but also not that surprising (to me at least) after seeing how involved G4 is in the Las Vegas community since moving there a few years ago.

But in typical Raiders fashion, they'll call it Al Davis Field at Allegiant Stadium or some such thing.

The likely name of the future Raiders stadium, where they’ll move in 2020, is Allegiant Stadium. G4 is their IATA code, not to be confused with the defunct channel formerly TechTV.

A mediocre football team making a bad move and pairing with an awful airline. We have a winner! Fans will be charged $40 for each item they bring into the stadium and an added $10 "convenience fee" for each item purchased on stadium grounds?

The Raiders will move back to Oakland. They always come back....

Wow you are usually dead wrong but here you are quite right. Being a Raider fan that lives in Nevada I was a bit surprised even knowing G4 is born and resides in Vegas I can only lament on how bad this team is. Oakland took them for granted and they will find an eager fan base and some of their old fan base will travel but after two years of stinking it up and losing after letting Mack get away will be hard to bear.

Allegiant's press release today makes it official.
http://ir.allegiantair.com/news-releases/news-release-details/raiders-allegiant-agree-naming-rights-deal-las-vegas-stadium

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Raiders and Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) today announced an agreement for the naming rights to Las Vegas Stadium, the under-construction future home of the Raiders and UNLV football.

"We're thrilled that our future home will be known as Allegiant Stadium," said Raiders President Marc Badain. "As the hometown airline, Allegiant is the perfect partner to showcase the incredible support we continue to receive from the Southern Nevada community. We are grateful to all involved who worked diligently to make Allegiant Stadium a reality."....................

The Raiders and Allegiant are also teaming up to provide additional enhancements, rewarding customers and fans with unique in-game and season-long promotions including the "Allegiant Connection of the Game" linking a lucky fan to their favorite Raiders player, and an opportunity to win "Fan Traveler of the Year" honors.

When they are done milking the taxpayers of Clark County, they will return to Oakland and start the whole process again. I wonder what the next non Oakland city will be in 2040.

Thanks for updating the title. I'm so used to using IATA codes in titles for some stupid reason...

Except the Clark County tax payers are not on the hook for it, the county is issuing bonds that will be paid for by a .81% rise in hotel room taxes, so the visitors are paying for it.
