West Wing Drama - Bolton/Pompeo

Sat Sep 07, 2019 12:23 am

So in the latest episode of WH managerial chaos, apparently the NSC team is left to its own devices coordinating with State since NSA Bolton and SecState Pompeo have gone ‘weeks’ without speaking of late. This is likely due to Bolton’s posturing and eagerness to drive military confrontation with Iran, and strong disagreement with troop drawdown in Afghanistan - but the question is, if he’s taking the differences so personally and isn’t speaking to a key colleague, why not fire the guy? POTUS has repeatedly stated he doesn’t want conflict in the gulf so....manage.

If Lt. Gen H. R. McMaster, didn't see eye to eye with Trump and was let go, why is Bolton still around? Why was he even selected since he is a well known war hawk? Yep, Trump always surrounds himself with the best people.

There's talk that Bolton could see the door soon since it is rumored that Trump is not speaking to Bolton either. In a few recent high profile meetings regarding a peace plan in Afghanistan, Bolton was not invited to attend.

But again: it's really a relief that Trump only hires the best people because I can't imagine what would happen if he didn't.

Being a war hawk is one thing, but if the guy wants more war in Afghanistan, while starting a new one in Iran, to include Israel, Lebanon, etc., he's a war maniac !

Trump fires Bolton as National Security Advisor

Tue Sep 10, 2019 4:09 pm

It happened sooner than I thought it would:

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning."

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/10/us/p ... trump.html

Even though Bolton apparently won the argument about hosting the Taliban at Camp David, his friction with other Trump advisors - particularly Secretary of State Mike Pompeo - seemingly did him in. Trump's statement included:

Now... it will be interesting if Bolton generates yt another "tell-all" book about Trump's incompetence...

HAHAHA. So Trump hired hm, asked the questions that got Bolton hired, but disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions and fired him. Seems like Trump is not so good at hiring the best people, and may not be fit to be a leader.

The occupant of the White House simply wants to surround himself with yes-men. If he wants to do something, he should have zero resistance, no matter how awful the idea is. He thinks he is king. He thinks he should have absolute power.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

Oh well...now Bolton can hope to cash in on a Fox News gig as a cheerleader political contributor.

Stories are differing though. Trump, through Twitter, says he told Bolton his services are no longer required (i.e. he fired him)...but Bolton said he offered to resign last night and Trump's reply was "let's talk about it tomorrow".

This is what happens when you elect dumpster trash as President.

The only silver lining is that war mongering walrus is no longer in the administration.

Perhaps Trump could fire himself in the next round?

The world is a tiny bit safer with mr. Bolton away from the White House. He was a hawk in the administration. Let's see if Iran can come to a peaceful close now.

Plenty of people may give Trump criticism for firing yet another person. But keep in mind, he fired Bolton. In my mind getting rid of that war monger is a big win. Trump should never have hired him.

Who would have thought I would agree with Trump on something.

So the question now is what truly happened?

Did Trump say "you're fired" and Bolton say "you can't fire me because I quit"? Or did Bolton say "I quit" and Trump replied "you can't quit because you're fired"?

Gas will be cheaper. Oil prices are falling in the wake of the firing. Bolton was one of the leaders of the "Bad Iran" policy. So now we will see if Trump reinstates an agreement with Iran

We are building the wall. But Mexico ain’t paying for it (you left out that part).

On topic, though, I actually think Bolton is a good riddance. He was about to get US into a bunch of useless war in Middle East.

On the other hand, why did Trump hired Bolton in the first place puzzles me. Trump should know what he. Is getting into (or maybe not, since it’s Trump).

In the past 30 years, and under HW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, and Obama there have been 8 total NSAs, which averages out to an average tenure of 3.5 years for a NSA. Trump has already run thru 3 (plus an acting NSA) in 32 months in office, with tenure averaging 10 months, not including the acting NSA. At this rate he will fire his next NSA sometime in July next year.

I’d hate to see how many NSAs he would have run though if he didn’t “hire the best, most serious people”. Maybe Omarossa is ready to come back to the WH.

This is very good news; Bolton was dangerous and as much as I abhor virtually everything DT has done, including hiring John Bolton in the first place, I think he has made the right decision in firing him. He was hell bent on pushing America to war and it wouldn't surprise me if he was concocting something that might have provoked a war.

He was a remnant of the Second Gulf War and frankly, after that disaster, he should not have been let within a bull's roar of any government post, let alone NSA.

I'm reminded of a line from the dead parrot sketch in Monty Python. The pet shop owner says his brother lives in Bolton, but apparently it's a palindrome. "Hang on, a palindrome of Bolton is Notlob. It don't work" ... Well, actually it does, because now Trump can hire an NSA who will Notlob missiles at Iran. (I'll get my coat ...)

That's cute, out of ALL that...you found a huge Lie that that cancels out everything else and because Mexico is NOT paying for it as he promised (quote him on that)..but you're convinced something is being built.

So, I must ask...is it normal for you to accept friends, acquaintances, co-workers and relatives that LIE on a scale to likes of this, to this of this so much that you have no qualms with putting the rest of the US population in the same boat as you - in accepting such bottomless character as leader and steward for the rest of us.

Seriously!

....and he's just getting started!

So, he lied about his education
He lied to not serve America in Vietnam
He lied to NYC over his tax obligations after getting the Commodore Hotel->The Grand Hyatt
He lied about Sept. 11th, 2001.
He lied about Stormy
He lied about Russia ("what Russias? Anybody see any Russians"...a direct quote)
He lied about his Negotiating Skills - ask Little Kim, Putin, G-7
He lied about Puerto Rico
He lied about Air Force transport use
He lied about Hillary (HRC-You're a Russian Puppet...TT-No I'm not! You are..You're a puppet')
He lied about Khashoggi
He lied about marking the NOAA hurricane map with a Sharpie.
..+ 12000 more...

plus add 10K additional lies dispensed via crap vessel, Rudy Guiliani

But the Ten Biggest Lies
10. We've gotten more done than any other administration.
9. Steel and automaker investments are skyrocketing.
8. Tariffs are making America rich.
7. We passed the biggest tax cut and reform in American history.
6. Democrats are "radical socialists” who want to turn America into Venezuela.
5. We pulled off an economic turnaround of historic proportions.
4: Obama separated children from their families at the border.
3. The Russia probe is witch hunt.
2. Republicans support protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
1. We're building the wall.

Ladies and gentleman, I present your glorious genius of a leader.

But his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen calls him a liar....Keith Schiller? What say you?

We are building the wall. But Mexico ain’t paying for it (you left out that part).

On topic, though, I actually think Bolton is a good riddance. He was about to get US into a bunch of useless war in Middle East.

On the other hand, why did Trump hired Bolton in the first place puzzles me. Trump should know what he. Is getting into (or maybe not, since it’s Trump).

Seriously!

BN747

Huh? You realize that I am (very consistently) anti-Trump, right? Other than the tariff against China (which I am not against, but I also read through his lie about how China is paying for it (yeah right...me and you as American consumer are paying for that) and how it is suppose to bring manufacturing back to US (yeah right...things either get move to SE Asia, also, tariff just make manufacturing in US even more expensive)) I pretty much disagree with every single one of Trump policy.

Ok, there will be no wall, but rather a fence or even just refurbishment of the existing barrier. Doesn’t take away the fact that IQ45 just stole money from the military just to have his vanity project done.

Stories are differing though. Trump, through Twitter, says he told Bolton his services are no longer required (i.e. he fired him)...but Bolton said he offered to resign last night and Trump's reply was "let's talk about it tomorrow".

Apparently he had a Fox News gig before, and Trump liked watching him, that's why he hired him !

I should reworded that to:

If it was only Bolton. There is also at least Pompeo, and likely a few others, not as publicly talked about, but just as influential.

Are they still arguing on social media about who broke up with whom? Maybe if one of them had not announced a cancelled secret meeting with terrorists on American soil the week of the worst terror attack in American history.....

Maybe Trump invited the Taliban to "celebrate 9/11". He seemed desperate to get them over so he could brag about "his" agreement with them.

Hope you're not holding your breath on that (I know you aren't)... I dunno about the 'best' people, but I do know no intelligent or smart people will want to work for...with one exception.

Russian Intelligence will...and they'll do it for free!
Or Mexico will pay for 'em...

And now Trump is looking into giving Iran a bailout to come back to talks after Trump shredded the last agreement.

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-d ... nce-2019-9

Wouldn't it have been nice if we hadn't cancelled the original agreement?

President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a French plan to allow a $15 billion credit for Iran should it come back and comply with the Iran nuclear deal, according to US and foreign officials cited in a Daily Beast report.

The plan was originally floated by French officials but was contingent on the US's approval of issuing waivers for its sanctions. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves le Drian said earlier this month that the credit line would be backed by Iran's oil revenues, and that negotiations on the matter were ongoing.

So let me get this straight. Iran was complying with the original I ran deal, Trump comes along and backs out of the deal, now Trump is thinking about giving Iran $15 billion to comply with the original deal which they were doing??

I swear it makes sense in the bizzaro comic world.

I expect Trump will get flack on this, and I have a hard time believing he will follow through, but he already stood at the brink of war and realized it was not a good place that Bolton had taken him too.

It's his MO. It goes like this....

Status quo
Complain about status quo
Tweet endlessly about how bad the status quo is
Do something to break the status quo
Some time later propose 'solution' to situation
Eventually return to status quo
Claim victory

Anything to massage his fragile ego.

I hope he tweets and confirms this so we can find footage of him complaining about how Obama gave Iran $150B in cash (money that was Iran's regardless).

And I hope during the presidential debates (or townhalls if Trump refuses to show up) he's hammered by the double standard.
