Ordering glasses online? :/

Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:46 am

I'm not sure where my glasses have gone to, and of course my VSP insurance won't cover another pair till after the New Year

So I'm checking out these places that I previously regarded with suspicion (and still do). VisionWorks, Target Optical...

I've always had a high opinion of Target, but all I go there for is toiletries, Quest Bars, and sometimes groceries. Oh and scented candles.

I asked my eye doctor's office to email me my prescrip, then I logged on to the website of Target Optical, picked some cool-looking, inexpensive frames I liked, couldn't believe there was a button called "add lenses" like this is a pizza or something...

Obviously, I stopped before buying anything - it looks like the "upload your prescription" part comes actually after you submit your credit card info for payment? :boggled:

Anyway... I really need glasses so I'm kind of a in a corner here; want to hear if anyone's had any experience with Target or VisionWorks or "America's Best" (:boggled:) or whatever else my options are.

I got my last set of contacts from Target Optical. No issues. Of course, I did it in person.

Which, is what I said basically.

Which Target do you go to? I usually go to the one in Minnetonka. Once I was at one in Indiana, and the cash registers and my receipt both said "Mishawaka" but my credit card statement said the transaction took place in Granger. :boggled:

Got mine from Warby Parker and very happy with them. They'll send you some frames to try on for free, and then once you're ready to order, you just upload a pic of your script.

I’ve used Zenni Optical and Glasses USA-The former carries their own generic, non branded specs, starting at $7 including lenses(!) and I can definitely say I’ve never had an issue with them!

Out of the 1800'ish stores in the US. I prefer the one in Springhurst, though St. Matthews is also on the list. My contacts came from St. Matthews.

I’m using zenni optical and have three in the basket at the moment. For $40, you can get a fantastic set of glasses.
