Yup, over "whatever they feel appropriate", in order to claim it you need to know what the "whatever" is. A blanket claim obviously is impossible.
Even William P. Barr from the god-king fraction thinks that a claim on executive privilege has to come from consideration. You can not consider what you don't know.
Your brilliant idea would mean that the supreme court is the super power, a supreme court with such power could abuse it, especially considering the lifetime appointments, and that is obviously the very thing the founding fathers didn't want.

If there is any power stronger than the others in the minds of the founding fathers, it is congress. As James Madison wrote "In republican government, the legislative authority necessarily predominates."

Amazing how over two centuries ago people got it right for today's political problems. "Abuse of congress" would be if the executive doesn't go to court. They did. That article of impeachment is completely bogus.

Two hundred years ago there was no getting much of anything right, the 1st 50+ years of the US is where testing of the new US political systerm had to iron out bugs and unanticipated events not thought of at inception.

This president has all those great ideas you speak pf tied up in courts because they are trying flaunt the laws/system you called 'perfect'.

This foolish man has done and is doing every single thing a guilty man would do..everything, nothing unturned.
No innocent person (with the power to interfere or not) would follow every step he and his active cover up specialist are doing.

Not one of you can say anything to disprove any of that or counter it.

If there were an A.net member posting here now, who:
Openly attacked and posted about attacking kids on twitter (see Greta threads)...most here would give pause to think about this.
Openly attack law enforecement (no, my criticism of injustices by police evidenced by strings of shootings is not the same as insane 'f--k the police attitudes) - his attacks are on anyone looking into him.
Openly attacking active, retired and deceased military people although they never served and in fact cheated and lied his way out of ever serving.
Openly attacking judges/courts based on the race.
Refused to adhere to the mods/rules with every posts
Constantly and openly attacking women
...that member would not last a week here and you all know it.

But here we are, some very members want such a person to preside over ALL Americans because he shares 'their values (or lack of)....

Very telling,

My guess is he will become a liability to the Democrats. A lot less has caused Clintoncide.

Instead of listening to Fox News, perhaps it'll behoove you to listen to Schiff's own words, he'd make a excellent witness against this immoral lying sack of mierda.

$100 says Schiff will gladly go under oath and defend his proper conduct during the hearings. Still waiting for someone from the cult of Trump to go under oath and defend their God's actions.

Russian state media says Trump is their ‘agent’ as they weaponize Giuliani’s schemes to demoralize Ukraine

...the Russians are now calling him 'theirs' to our faces...
What kind of red-blooded American is not phased by this? the ones who were never TRUE American patriots in the first place, that's who!

They want to talk about only Hunter Biden.

Sure, let's talk about Hunter Biden's crimes....and compare them to another nepotism-check baby, Jared Kushner and Ivanka...they haven't pocketed millions with ZERO skills (extortion doesn't count)?

First, you’re confused; it’s the judges on the left who are activists that make up the law as they go.

Second, Clinton couldn’t have claimed executive privilege as what he lied about under oath had nothing to do with executing his job as president.

Third, as President Obama famously said, “Elections have consequences,” and President Trump has been quietly appointing conservative, originalist judges to the federal benches since he took office. Want to change that? Win a presidential election.

No trial has taken place and two jurors have made up their minds. Is that fair? Before anything has happened, before any witnesses called, before a trial date is set, two of 100 have made up their minds openly.

If this guy is so innocent as he claims to be, his minions would demand he and everyone in the administration testify under oath and as often as possible. Yet, that has not happened. It should make people stop and ask why. It will not make the MAGA fans ask questions. They never ever question dear leader.

A President that openly commits crimes of corruption and abuse of power, a legislative branch that refuses to do anything about it and proudly claims they will defend said President despite all the clear evidences and an executive branch that lines the judicial branch with partisan and loyal judges.

No, I'm not talking about an African dysfunctional peudo-democracy, I'm talking about the US of A, circa 2019-2020.

Impeachment is moving along. GOP senators in Swing states and Representatives in swing districts are in a big quagmire. Do they swear blind allegiance to Trump and risk alienating their independent and moderate supporters, or do they actually try to perform a dutiful rendering of impeachment and risk alienating the GOP base? There is a lot of electorate math at play, and while even I don't think there will be enough honest republicans to get to 67 votes, I wouldn't be surprised to see 5 or 6 cross the lines to send a message to Trump and attempt to preserve their votes in swing states.
Where ever you go, there you are.

Not sure if you are American or not...but if you're from abroad and saying that..it's 10X worse for those of us who live here and are paying attention.

A new WaPo poll says 74% of Dems want direct witnesses (Bolton, Mulvaney, inc) to testify.
64% of Republicans in the poll want to hear them too.

So...if everything is perfect, those guys should put trump in the clear, right?

Can you imagine Nixon pulling a 'trump' when he was facing Impeachment?

Now because there was no Nancy Pelosi to blame in his case...it was all Justice Dept. handy work.

In fact, not one person here can name the Speaker of the House in 1972.

A dude named Carl Albert...that's who.

But lets pretend Carl was the Pelosi of that era...

Nixon pulling a trump
Nixon: That little runny bastard Albert! He's always hated me! He doesn't love America! I didn't do it! Or I didn't order it!

It's a Deep State black ops! They're out to get me because they lost in 1968! Bobby couldn't make it, so they're still mad! FYI, I was not in Texas at Clint Murchison's Dallas Mansion celebrating on Nov. 22nd 1963, they say I was there, but I wasn't trust me! I just don't like presidents or candidates who get shot!

Wow. This stuff is beyond belief and is Tom Clancy-level stuff:

One of the reasons for this rush may be a desire to be done with impeachment before any more news connects Russian money to President Trump. We now know Rudy Giuliani’s indicted ex-business partner Lev Parnas—who paid Rudy $500,000 to do Trump’s Ukraine election meddling—had a Russian funding stream.

So, the 2 Articles of Impeachment go to the full house for some debate and a vote on them that if either or both get majority votes, to be presented to the Senate for trial.

There still needs to be decisions made as to how many and who will be witnesses. We need to hear from those involved with the phone calls, previously testified to the Intelligence and Judiciary Committees as well as some with firsthand knowledge of the contents of the phone calls with the Ukrainian leader as well as current and previous WH staff as to his alleged abuses of power but who have yet to testify. Some Republicans want to put up FBI officials, the Bidens, and others not directly involved in the calls or alleged abuses of power, mainly to support Trump from being removed by distracting and distorting from the actual language and actions of the President. Some Republicans don't want any witnesses, to prevent challenging ones of Democrats.

It will be a sadly historic day tomorrow, but most people won't care.We do need to learn from this situation, to keep out politicians from office with serious conflicts of interest, incompetent, open racists, too autocratic and too much of a lust for power.

Good luck with that. Especially in these populistic times where people don’t care about facts. As you said in the first sentence. Most people won’t care. So how should they learn...

SNL..get it done.

Okay, I did my 'if Nixon pulled a trump'...happy to share a look at Bill Clinton, 'pulling a trump'.

The taping of Clinton;s testimony:

Starr Questioner: When did you first meet Ms. Lewinski?
Clinton: Who? Who's that?

Starr Questioner: This girl here posing with you.
Clinton:Oh I don't really know her that well...she just brought pasties and McDonalds to the office that's all! Nothing Happened! Did you see that young girl Newt was with at the dinner party?

Starr Questioner: Mr. President, we have your DNA on her dress...
Clinton: DNA??? It's could have been China's or some 400lb living in his mom's basement.

Starr Questioner: Mr. President, er..
Clinton: I know what's going on here! It's a vast rightwing Conspiracy! Newt cheated! Dole cheated! Hell, even Al cheated...I didn't do anything, it's a witch hunt! Get Hilary if you need to get a witch, try ;iving with her, I know first hand!!! do you have a cancelled check?? No? No, you don't! I always pay by check! Presidential Harassment! Presidential Harassment! I don't need this I'm out here!

..storms off the screen.

All in Impeachments in the modern age have been been spoofed with a heavy dose of 'trump'...

** if today's political climate existed in 1996...he would walked clean and escaped Impeachment**

I see they are wasting another day in Congress on this scam. I cannot wait until next week when the Senate dismisses it and we can get on with real business and the next election.

Like the hundreds of bills sitting in the Senate? You really think McConnell wants to take those up when he still has right wing activist judges to seat?
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

Here’s Trump from back in 2008, and before his dementia reduced his vocabulary to a 2nd grade level, in an interview with criticism of Pelosi for not impeaching GW Bush for “lying”. Pretty rich coming from the President who’s told more lies than his 44 predecessors, combined.

Pontius Pilate HAHAHAHA. They have lost their minds. When did PP give Jesus a chance to testify and publically declined it? Oh wait, he didn't. Even Jesus, with his crown of thorns and no chance to testify, had it better than Trump.

On the bright side, PP did convict Jesus, so I'm sure that the Repubs will lose their version of Jesus too

Glad I left that shithole of party

Free market, constitution following, small government my ass. The only thing that matters to them money.

Even Father Martin is against it now. They are losing their base as Christians find out the truth. They are simply being used for votes.

Oh and they compared it to Pearl Harbor too.

I can't wait to see the ad runs against the GOP.

Heck with 11 months left, and all indications that they will turn a blind eye to Trump, I wonder if we will be back with another impeachment by Summer?

I think in earlier trump threads the inference was made on the reach of Russian money trump/NRA/GOP members/ and certainly blacks ops (Rudy)...

I am beginning to think that trump maybe our own Manchurian Candidate in real life. What else could explain it? There maybe more than one in the Republican Party these days. Think about it, of course one must look up the term to see how it fits the man and his friends.

Oh yeah, now add in this 22-page letter by trump WH fighting Russian sanctions...if he isn't a Russian agent, who is?
Trump administration sent 22-page letter defending Russia — on the eve of impeachment vote: report
https://www.rawstory.com/2019/12/trump- ... te-report/

Add in the attempts by trump to persuade ex-UK PM Theresa May that Russia had done no wrong. trump alone is doing more for Russia than the Russian Foreign minister and every ambassador the country has.

He is a threat to American National Security!

Any defenders of those actions?

Oh he's game, knowing Moscow Mitch will do all he can to let him off the hook...some idiots out there think he will 'learn' from this as he 'learned' from the Mueller Investigation. He'll only be motivated to commit more acts of lawlessness.

Trump has officially become the 3rd president ever to become impeached.

At this moment, only in the lower house though.

The upper house has more republicans, so that could be interesting.....

No! He has been and forever is; IMPEACHED! Whether he is punished or removed from office is up to the Senate. But Trump is forever tarnished as IMPEACHED!

People may wonder why impeach this President if he’s not going to be removed. Because the Trump name will forever be tarnished, and the only new construction project that will put his name up in lights will be single story, strip malls, in places like Mason, OH or Wheeling, WV or Beaumont, TX.

While you all rejoice you seem to miss that you have almost assuredly given Trump a win in 2020. I'll leave it at that for now. We can revisit my prediction in nov. 2020.

Only like 3 states control the actual results. The people everywhere else argue and debate and make predictions all year long, but their vote never counts since they live in Kansas or New York and the state never changes how it votes in a presidential election. So no matter how stong the Trump turnout is in every state, the turnout that matters is in Michigan, ect where jobs have been leaving and keep leaving. So really, it is a tossup on who can best speak to those voters.

Exactly, the smelly name of Impeached is now stuck to him like that orange veneer...forever.

We're happy because the law has been drawn and now he's more free than ever to get as nutty as he can.

And you're banking another year passing with him saying &/or doing something stupid weekly if not daily..won't continue?

Trust me, sit back and watch...

Donald Trump has been impeached for Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress. The Trial in the Senate promises to be a sham as the GOP will have to ignore all evidence presented to dismiss the case, much as their colleagues in the House have already done. The GOP is swampiest of swamps and it threatens to destroy America.
Where ever you go, there you are.

I don't know that this vote changes much as far as the 2020 presidential election goes. I seriously doubt many voters' minds will be changed by the fact that he's officially impeached or not. What could well be impacted is how local congressmen (and women) are voted on in their districts depending on how they voted and senators in how they vote for or against removal. He most certainly won't be convicted in the senate. What will ensure a Trump win is if the Dems nominate a far left candidate like Sanders or Warren. While Biden's more centrist, he carries an awful lot of baggage. Mayor Pete isn't going to go over well in the Bible Belt and I think a lot of people might look at Bloomberg and say "yeah, another rich old white guy - we already have one of them, may as well stick with the guy already in place." So, yeah, Trump may well win re-election, but the impeachment vote isn't why. Just my :twocents:
