that part may be correct...

that was investigating Burisma

that is a lie. There was no investigation ongoing or planned at that time.

To quote snopes

Snopes wrote:
Ukraine’s current prosecutor, Yuriy Lutsenko, was quoted by Bloomberg News in May as saying he had no evidence of wrongdoing by Biden or his son. Bloomberg also reported that the investigation into Burisma was dormant at the time Biden pressed for Shokhin’s ouster.

Soo... Viktor Shokin was ousted after the investigation into Burisma had concluded.....

I suggest you start reading news instead of fan fiction.

The Impeachment investigation hearings continue today, but they will not really lead to Trump's removal from office in the Senate trial. The best hope is to tarnish Trump with enough unethical behaviors that enough will turn out to vote him out and the Democrat in with the 2020 elections. Sadly this is very ugly politics, no one will win, especially the common citizen of our country.

The best hope may be that Mitch decides winning 2020 is off the table if they don´t replace Trump with Pence. Not sure if that is good in any sense of the word, but that is an option. After all he is the Shadow King, sitting on 300 pieces of legislation and refusing to let the Senate do its job....
After all, they are scared of the backlash from the Trump base, but are those people really going to stay home and let take the democrats take over everything by way of not showing up?

As political as it may be, the actual impeachment proceedings on their own are the result of abiding by the stricture of the Constitution. The President released a transcript that bears out the written testimony of a whistleblower that he possibly committed high crimes and misdeameanors. As always with Trump, he's done something in a very public and obvious way that brings due process down on his own head. As bad as anyone might think his actions are the one thing that would be worse still would be our elected representatives doing nothing about it. Think about it, in the worst case scenario Trump wins a second election and at minimum may benefit form a first-hand tutorial in what the hell it means to carry out his duties in accordance with the oath of office. Better yet the dim-witted degenerate goes back to reality TV and we start staunching the massive damage he's done to the country already. Our social fabric and our global alliances both have been shredded to pieces under this horrible joke of a leader, next up come the long-term economic damages. History will be brutal to Trump and it won't take long.

A couple of things:

It was established that Ukraine had met all requirements to receive aid.

https://buzzflash.com/articles/pentagon ... litary-aid

Republicans were droning on and on about "but this is second hand information! Read the transcript!" but we do not have the transcript. We have a memo of the call. Second hand information they will not accept from Democrats. So, release the actual call so we can see it first hand. Until then, stop whining about second hand information.

Never on any place on this planet was Joe Biden with his dementia and inability to raise campaign contributions, to date, 37 Million for Joe Biden vs 736 Million for DJT, a threat in the 2020 election. However Joe's corruption in Ukraine is a concern to the United States taxpayers. :checkmark: I believe Trump's own tactics and policies have deemed him a loser in 2020 - even before these hearings - but what we are learning only adds to the depth of his defeat. May he go down in history as the biggest loser of all time (and no, I am not suggesting he take a role on that TV show...).

It was Joseph Welch, a Boston attorney hired by the Army during the Army-McCarthy hearings, who famously brought down the demagogic McCarthy with one simple, direct question: "You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?"

If Mr. Welch were still with us, he could well ask that question again of this administration.

So how is he unethical? does this come from CNN or some other fake news outlet? What I thought was just hilarious is when the fake news media released a night fire demonstration at a Kentucky gun range and claimed it was footage from Syria. https://www.wgbh.org/news/national-news ... -gun-range

So getting us out of never ending wars is bad for the country? You wold rather have us enrich the Military/Industrial complex by spending Trillions of our tax dollars on other countries never ending wars? How do you think so many career politicians became multi Millionaires? Hint: They have been ripping us tax payers off for years.

The President makes decisions that are actually good for the country and he should be impeached for it? Really? Finally, we have a President that actually works for "We the People" and the ONLY thing the Democrats have done since before the inauguration is to try to railroad him out office by any legal or illegal means possible because he is draining their business as usual corrupt swamp.

This is pure delusion and nonstop deflection from the substance of the inquiry. Nevermind that your claims are wrong - he was the outsider, Wall Street can’t touch me etc yet what was the first move? Install ex-GS bankers to economic advisor and SecTreasury. Oh yeah, for da people.

So about Ukraine, if stated WH policy was anti-coruption, why was Giuliani, in counsel to POTUS, working with corrupt actors over there? Hmm?

If fake news is bad, why was Giuliani feeding info from corrupt Ukrainians to John Solomon that is now discredited? Hmm?

The more you scream "FAKE NEWS!" the more desperate you sound.

It was already known and affirmed by our own intelligence that Zielinski was improving his government and wiping out corruption in Ukraine. The basis for releasing funds to fight against Russia. Giuliani ran to the corrupt people in Ukraine holding meetings and talking to the corrupt people against Zielinski. Several people have already testified to this under oath in public committee hearings shown on CSPAN. Go watch CSPAN and let us know how "fake" they are.

Republicans keep deflecting and name calling. They keep bringing up Hunter Biden but the rebuttal from intelligence and security on the United States side is there was nothing inappropriate. Before you start screaming 'FAKE NEWS!!" I saw that on CSPAN so....

And what, pray tell, does that have to do with Trump and the impeachment process? A mixed-up video of a fire location means everyone should overlook Trump's attempts to extort a foreign government, in a brazen attempt to try to find some "dirt" on a political rival?

I thought Trump's minions were posing as members of a "moral majority" - even as gladly overlook morals in an effort to justify their support...

That is why Trump is under investigation, not because the democrats wish him ill. But because Trump can't help but be unethiical and unbecoming of holding the office of President of the United States.

I have a further question, after concluding the hearing: who would you prefer American kids look up to: Lt. Col. Vindman or Rep. Jordan/Guliani? I’m betting most level-headed people would answer in the former.

because most things that are illegal are unethical. Not spending congress appropriated money for example is illegal, as DoD and DoS quickly decided when Trump did it.

Finally, we have a President that actually works for "We the People" and the ONLY thing the Democrats have done since before the inauguration is to try to railroad him out office by any legal or illegal means possible because he is draining their business as usual corrupt swamp.

I have a further question, after concluding the hearing: who would you prefer American kids look up to: Lt. Col. Vindman or Rep. Jordan/Guliani? I’m betting most level-headed people would answer in the former.

Well, although Colonel Vindman is a decorated veteran with honors, being an active participant in an illegal act of overthrowing a duly elected President in an illegal impeachment would make me be inclined to recommend Jordan/Giuliani as role models. So sad that Colonel Vindman's career has to end in dishonor to his country.

I'm hoping he realizes that he was duped and does the right thing and turns out the unscuplious people that duped him. That would restore my respect for his service and patriotism to our country and to him being a role model to future generations. People like Adam Shiff need to be charged and convicted of Sedition/Treason for their CRIMINAL acts against out country.

how in the name of God is impeaching a criminal President "overthrowing" him and illegal? He committed an act of bribery, specifically spelled out in the constitution for impeaching and removing him. If there is anything unconstitutional on the horizon it is the likely failure of the Senate to remove him. The highest law of the land, higher than your precious 2nd Amendement, says "shall be removed from Office", not "may be removed". Shall.

And you must have been truly outraged when Clinton, as duly elected president, was "overthrown" by impeaching him for something not specifically laid out in the constitution,if removing him for something the founding fathers obviously considered as bad as treason gets you railed up like this..... .

There is no evidence for dishonor of Col. Vindman - provide a source if we are all somehow wrong. Duped by whom, how, and when?

Right now you are slandering a decorated serviceman trying to repay his family’s debt to the country - in favor of an established criminal (who’s father got him out of Vietnam service), his private lawyer under federal investigation of fraud and money laundering, and a staff that includes a proud white nationalist. Are you sure that is the moral company you want to keep?

Also you need to re-read the definition of treason in the Constitution.

I'd rather not teach our kids to break chains of command, covertly work against superiors, work against elected officials as a shadow government, act like they are in charge when they are not, unconstitutionally carry out executive power, commit perjury, and then to top it off be a smug jerk about it.

So your answer is Lt. Col. Vindman as he followed all relevant legislation to the letter.

Citations and evidence? Otherwise it’s just fantasy.

And yet again, you ignore that the current POTUS already has two established instances of criminality - fraud and conspiracy (the latter unindicted until out of office) - possibly more should prosecutors wish to go there. And still no commentary about his personal lawyer spreading and spinning a Putin-friendly narrative while commiserating with corrupt Ukrainians while this WH was supposedly fighting corruption there.

FFS Gramps, he put his country before the criminal in the WH.

He’s far more of a patriot than the piece of garbage who clearly doesn’t understand that withholding aid for dirt on your political opponent is wrong, and illegal, not to mention, an impeachable offence.

That’s a far better lesson to teach kids.

RT und Sputnik ....

Which brings up the really interesting question: How does the ilk of Hanity at el know when to push Russian Propaganda narrative exactly when russian state media does it? Just when Biden gets mentioned by russian state media, much more than any other candidate and overwhelmingly negativ, Hanity starts a hard push against the one Ambassador no one ever talked about (its not like Hanity cares much on his show about US Ambassadors before that), exactly when the Trump cabal needed her out of the way to bribe Ukraine into fabricating dirt on Biden.

I wonder if there is an investigation underway to determine if, and if so who, at Fox and others is an unregistered foreign agent conspiring with Russia to defraud the United States....... and how would they keep that away from Mr. Barr?

The only one currently accused of being an unregistered foreign agent is Giuliani, and as it is now known from testimonies of three officials in the inquiry that Sec. Pompeo called Hannity to get him to stop spouting off about Yovanovitch (probably a play to preserve morale at State), it stands to reason Giuliani has been in touch with Hannity to get him to hold up the TV end of the false narratives he was pushing to John Solomon in print.

You want your child to see Gym Jordan, a man who did nothing in the wake of 177 young males that were subjected to sexual abuse, and helped facilitate that coverup, and Rudy G, who is under an active criminal investigation, each as a “role model”. Yet a decorated war hero, when he witnessed criminality went to his superiors and lawyers and followed protocol for such matters, you consider a willing “dupe”.

In German there is a special word for people that actively work to undermine the constitution like the republicans currently do: Verfassungsfeind (~ Enemy of the Constitution) and an Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Something the US seems to need these days.

Sondland is testifying that Rudy and Trump engaged in a quid pro quo, and directly indicting them in this crime. He also is testifying that Senator Ron Johnson and Pompeo were directly informed of this. Sondland clearly saw he was being set up as the fall guy and is having nopart in it.

with the nonsenses Nunes is talking one has to wonder what the Russians have on him...

One got to believe, after the Republicans own Witnesses just yesterday completely debunked those conspiracy theories, he repeats them on TV.

It would appear that the GOP members only try to product soundbites for the folks that will never ever see anything from the testimonies that isn´t a Russian Cut on Fox and Friends.

Honestly I can't keep track of what is left of the GOP defense. It's been changed so many times yet instantly shredded each time. I think they're going to land on the SNL phone company line "We don't care. We don't have to."

I don't think the GOP/Trump lovers have this figured out, every Wednesday I go for breakfast with a few friends, we go to a place near Nellis, it's a place that gets a lot of former and current military members and, how to put this, they are pissed. Normally in conversations I overhear there is a lot of liberal bashing, this morning, Trump is public enemy #1.

I guess Trump can bulls**t his way out of this, maybe, but if he has taken to throwing US service members under the bus, he may have a big issue.

What also shouldn't be missed is Trump turning on people he hired (again) but while they are still employed at the White House....Only the best huh.

And now Sondland is going full throttle bridge burning

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/ ... fb69e626c3

"He continued: “My lawyers and I have made multiple requests to the State Department and the White House for these materials. Yet, these materials were not provided to me. They have also refused to share these materials with this Committee. These documents are not classified and, in fairness, should have been made available. In the absence of these materials, my memory has not been perfect,” Sondland said. “And I have no doubt that a more fair, open, and orderly process of allowing me to read the State Department records would have made this process more transparent.”

In response to Jetwet's post-

Maybe for some conservatives watching a President so cowardly that he faked bone spurs to avoid serving his country and a Senator that condoned rape while he was a gym teacher trash a military officer with combat ribbons is simply too much. Not all Republicans mind you, but a handful doesn't surprise me. Too bad none hang around this forum. Got my $5K baby, everything else is Fake Newz.

Watching the twitter feed, and so far Trump is silent. Wonder how the White House will spin this one? Sondland just basically confirmed the whistle blower story, and threw Pompeo, Trump, Pence and Giuliani onto the Train Tracks.

GOP counsel tried to get Sondland to admit he wasn’t a reliable witness, but he wasn’t having any of it. Very confident guy, even if he is being ambiguous at times. Hilarious that he says things would be a lot clearer if State Dept would release his docs and Mulvaney/Pompeo etc would testify. Not a guy to cross.

The GOP counsel just watched all of their defense of Trump go kaboom, and they are left in a lurch. All I can see happening now is the "So what" defense to be launched by the Pavlov dogs at right wing media.

I said it another thread - if the "so what?" defense prevails and the GOP votes in lock-step to absolve Trump of any wrong-doing, it would be pretty cool to see the next Democratic President state in his inauguration - "I'll give $5B in aid, no quid pro quo involved, to any nation that gives me dirt on any Republican Senator or Congressperson. No quid pro quo. I'll also give an an additional $1B to whichever country provides the dirt that flips a Senate or Congressional seat from GOP to Democrat, no quid pro quo. There's nothing in this for me, no quid pro quo. Thank you." And Republicans would have to unanimously stand up and say "Bravo, what a great speech Mr. President, it was perfect".

I tell you man, the corners these slavering boot lickers paint themselves into is quite simply astonishing.

Looks like Carson and Hannity have a new person to snipe with.

https://www.businessinsider.com/fox-new ... op-2019-11

"In a break from the hearing on Wednesday morning, Baier said in a Fox News segment that Sondland's 23-page opening statement, and his testimony that "everyone was in the loop" regarding the quid-pro-quo agreement, was "very damaging."

"This, on its face, is very damaging to some of the arguments the GOP has been making," he said."

Our resident Trump supporters have strangely gone silent so far today. Waiting for Breitbart to spin this I guess. Even Fox News website said this was bad up until noon CST. Trump has already chimed in “he barely knows Sondland and never met him”. LOL

Watching Fox news spin this they keep coming back to the phone call between Sondland and Trump where Trump says "I don't want anything. There's no QPQ. Just tell Zelensky to do the right thing". So that's the spin, there's no QPQ because Trump said so. I now get the 5th Avenue defense strategy - Trump shoots the guy in the face and then turns to the camera and says "I didn't shoot him in the face, no murder". And the GOP would say "yeah, no shooting of the face, no murder. You heard the President, he just said so".

We're in La La Land now Alice.

Sondland took the tactic in his opening statement (of 23 pages !) to throw others 'under the bus', including Trump and Giuliani to save his own butt from a jail cell. Of course the Republicans are in full denial, few were at the hearings this morning, they 'can't handle the truth'. Trump keeps reacting on Twitter and a short comment (in bold sharpie ink - No Quid Pro Que !) before he goes to Texas for I guess another of his Red Hat Fuhrer rallies and campaign bribe collections. Keep piling the info that ties Trump to his unethical and impeachable acts to at least make him badly damaged goods in the 2020 election.

Remember the episode of The Simpsons where Homer was accused of sexual harassment by the babysitter? He was interviewed on TV and it was so horribly edited? I feel that is what the right wing spin machine has been reduced to. That and screaming "HUNTER BIDEN!!" every chance they get. Republicans on the panel do not ask questions about the phone calls or emails or anything relevant to the current administration. Just deflecting to Hunter and Joe Biden.

You all had four years to investigate Hunter and Joe Biden. Yet, you didn't. Now you bring it up? Four years is more than enough time to investigate Hunter and Joe Biden and Burisma. But, no.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

It would appear that the GOP members only try to product soundbites for the folks that will never ever see anything from the testimonies that isn´t a Russian Cut on Fox and Friends.

best regards
Thomas

Honestly I can't keep track of what is left of the GOP defense. It's been changed so many times yet instantly shredded each time. I think they're going to land on the SNL phone company line "We don't care. We don't have to."

I have a further question, after concluding the hearing: who would you prefer American kids look up to: Lt. Col. Vindman or Rep. Jordan/Guliani? I’m betting most level-headed people would answer in the former.

I'd rather not teach our kids to break chains of command, covertly work against superiors, work against elected officials as a shadow government, act like they are in charge when they are not, unconstitutionally carry out executive power, commit perjury, and then to top it off be a smug jerk about it.

Keep your money in your pocket.

What happened to old white men? Seriously--there's got to be a medical explanation. Did they eat all the lead paint as kids?

Pure unmitigated, unhinged insanity. Unreal.

True. It is so despicable that the left would deceive and lie to a decorated veteran in their attempt to destroy a President that works for "We the People". Hopefully Colonel Vindman can see the deception and make things right with his conscience. Colonel Vindman, as a patriot, I stand with you in righting the horrific disservice done to your name by people that only want to destroy our country through lies and deception for power and financial gain.
