A mention of Rise of iPhone but no mention of Steve Jobs' passing in 2011.

What about Brexit vote in 2016? On the flip side, can you believe that UK is technically still in EU as of the end of 2010s?

Related to Ukraine is Euromaiden in 2014, which sets off the occupation (or annexation, depends on who you are talking to) of Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Oh, and a mention of MH370 but not MH17?

While on aviation, JT610 and ET302 followed by 737MAX worldwide grounding is definitely important. Earlier there's the battery problems of 787 (2013).

For worldwide events, there's Yemeni Civil War (Part of Iran-Saudi proxy war) with the dual Hajj diasters of 2015 in between. On Intelligence side there's Edward Snowden (2013), Panama Papers (2016)/Paradise Papers (2017).

Ultimately, this is definitely the decade of the rise of Big Tech, with SNS (Social Networking Service) dominating the scene and having a crazily large influence. Trump and "Fake News", ISIS using SNS as recruitment tools, multiple data leaks, the instantaneous information one can get about an event miles away...

We also had the George Zimmerman case, the rise of Iceland as a stopover destination, the opening of the High Roller Observation Wheel in Las Vegas (2014), the death of transforming architect Zaha Hadid (2016), the coup in Mali (2012), the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and Star Wars movies for four years in a row from 2015-2019. The MeTooMovement has led to Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Matt Lauer, Al Franken, and other people being held accountable for their actions.

Since this an aviation-related website, I'll start with:
The ongoing 737 Max nightmare
The MH incidents (disappearance and shoot-down)

Non-av stuff
Brexit
Notre Dame fire
Japan earthquake and tsunami
high-profile mass shootings
The solar eclipse that spanned the USA coast to coast. I know, not a big deal elsewhere but was huge news here
Rock and roll icon deaths - David Bowie, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Prince, Chris Squire, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker

We have also had terrorist attacks across the world, the relocation of the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (2018), the death of George HW Bush (2018), the death of Nancy Reagan (2016), the downing of a Russian airliner by a terrorist bomb near Sharm el Sheikh (2015), the opening of the V&A Dundee Museum in Dundee, Scotland (2018), and protests across South America in 2019.

And with good reason. It was the first coast to coast total solar eclipse since 1918 (almost 100 years prior), and the first total solar eclipse in the mainland since 1979.

Speaking of eclipses, the Middle East and Asia just saw an annular solar eclipse. I'm getting primed for 2023 when the US will see one, followed in 2024 with a second total solar eclipse.

We're going to Texas. The only place we can ensure no cloud coverage for either eclipse.

Why are you recapitulating the decade? It is not over yet. Not for a year. And why did you include events from the previous decade?

Its a shame that so many of the events listed in the OP were of acts of human on human violence including of terrorism and in particular with the USA, mass gun killings.
I would also add to the list:
The growing problems from, the recognition of and political battles over Climate Change/Global Warming.
The mass migrations of persons, in particular from Syria and adjacent countries, North Africa into Europe, Mexico, Central and parts of South America to the USA, all leading to more authoritarian, anti-immigrant politicians and parties around the world.
The evolvement of personal computers, thinner, few with CD/DVD slots anymore, shift from mechanical to solid state hard drives, more powerful, lower net prices especially as to data storage.
The rise of Android smartphones
Evolution from 3G data to the early stages of 5G data.
The rise of streaming services for music, movies, creating their own new programs investors in movies.
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter becoming major communications among people and presenting challenges from their use/abuse.
Continued decreases in personal privacy due to smartphones, more CCTV's
In the USA, less access to legal abortion in many states while in Ireland, making it legal.

You can take all these events consign them to the dustbin of history, David Bowie died 10 January 2016 all the rest is just bad stuff that happens on a regular basis.

Btw you missed The 2011 Norwegian terrorist attacks, only 77 people died, no biggie.

I think socially the most significant thing is the rise of populistic regimes all around the globe: Brazil, Venezuela, UK, USA, Philippines etc. The annexation of land destabilized things also.

The President of the Philippines launched campaigns that led to the killing of drug lords and the Brazilian President is responsible for the wildfires in the Amazon. Venezuela has faced an economic crisis that was caused by the drop in oil prices and socialist government policies and has led to mass starvation, lack of supplies, and a mass exodus of the country.

Correct. But they are all chosen on a ticket of populism. The rise of populism can be seen all over the globe, especially in the last decade. It says something where we are heading and the unrest and uncertainty people are feeling. Populism isn't the answer of course, but it "feels" nice..........

Sometimes it is indeed a bit broken and is vulnerable for hacking. But like Churchill said:

Churchill wrote:

And I have spoken to you for more then five-munites now..........

Why are you recapitulating the decade? It is not over yet. Not for a year. And why did you include events from the previous decade?

Does 2010 not count? 2010-2019 is 10 years.

No, 2010 was the last year of the first decade of the 21st century.

It's interesting that there's actually a debate going on about this. If the Millenium started in 2000, which is commonly agreed on, then 2020 is the beginning of a new decade. Do you think the new Millenium started in 2001?

Yes, of course. Or you want to tell me that there was a year 0 A.D. ?

That all depends on when we started counting according to our current calendar. I'm not sure that there is a consensus on the fact that there wasn't or was a 0 A.D. There's quite a bit of a mess when it comes to our current calendar, between the Gregorian and Julian calendar and their implementations. We're probably several years off anyhow.

The decade also saw the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (2010), the removal of Confederate monuments in the United States, and the repeal of blasphemy laws across the Western world.
