What Would They Find

While hurtling down the interstate, a random thought crossed my mind:

If you got into a wreck, what would the first responders find in your vehicle?

Back in the day, I came across

-cash (lots of it),
-sexual toys,
-about 100 empty pizza boxes,
-a .50 Barret M82
-a car full of trash bags full of trash,
-disassembled mannequins (that one caused a start),
-a stuffed racoon

Those stand-out in my memory.

As for me, I really don't think they'd come across anything out of the ordinary. I guess if I got in a wreck on the way to/from the range, I may be a little heavy in firearms and ammunition, but that would be the exception. I really can't think of anything else I've carried in the last few years that would bring pause to someone.

What about you?

Bicycle map of Iowa, Oxford Chinese dictionary, snow brush/ice scraper, Dasani bottles that still haven't recycled, the plastic drainage tray that goes under one of those flowerboxes for your windowsill, tire pressure gauge, Styrofoam blocks that I still haven't dropped off at that place in Plymouth that accepts them for recycling, empty plastic Kowalski's grocery bag, Cenex credit card, Sinclair card, BP Driver Reward card, empty fruit fly traps that I still haven't thrown out, empty Odwalla juice botle full of bottle caps amassed before I found out you're supposed to re-screw-on the bottlecap before you drop the bottle in the recycling, CapitalOne MasterCard, insurance card, unmatched wool mitten, and I think a sneaker.

I might have thrown out the sneaker.

I still have a huge pillow with a pink cover in the back seat. We had wanted our fur baby to sit there but she will not sit or sleep anywhere but the front seat and across the emergency break/cup holder between the front seats.

The oddest thing first responders would find is probably a shower squeegee. Some mornings are more moist than others and I have to clean my windows somehow! I have two ice scrapers because I could not find the first one.

Delta Blanket, Two hats, a 2005 St Louis area book map and my ice scraper. Maybe my work binder too, if I left it in the car that day. If they check the trunk they might find my still shrink wrapped first aid kit.

A lightweight zipper jacket, a cane (for my bad days), a beard brush, sunscreen, Lightning and micro USB cables, a Rand McNalley / AAA road atlas, sunglasses, change in the change-holder, and a little wire-coil-bound notebook where I note fuel purchases and things like tire rotation and oil changes. At times: a flat of 1/2-litre bottles of water.

In short: nothing exciting.

Nothing very exciting, to be honest.

Stroller
Car Seat
Various other baby-related things
A variable amount of trash, depending on when I last got my car cleaned
A variable amount of dog hair, see above
Tennis ball cans
Jumper cables
Yesterday's Starbucks cup
Whatever my wife has in my car

-a stuffed racoon

Yeah, that about sums up what's in my car! Isn't that what everybody carries around? :spin:

...
But in reality I have nothing really much, charging cables, finger nail clippers, a folding knife, a hair brush, and I keep a couple sport chairs in the trunk but beyond that nothing really of interest.

Because you never know when you'll meet "the One", you gotta keep prepared!

Nothing except a ice scraper snow brush and a Lightening cable, I absolutely hate cars filled with junk so I keep the interiors pretty clean.

If it was winter - an ice scraper and a collapsible snow shovel in addition to the inventory below

An umbrella
maps (yes, even with GPS installed I like paper maps :old: )
Dog waste bags
a first aid kit
a leash and dog collar
a couple towels
hiking boots and trekking poles
wire dog kennel

Ah that’s nothing. In my car:
- the entire tooling for the B 757
- some fish from Iceland
;-)

Hurtling? Please obey posted speed limits.

If It was my truck they would find basic tool box with a couple of quarts of Mobil 1 oil. Some bungee cords and a case of water. If it was my car they wouldn't find much but a couple of CDs and basic stuff.

Well, I'll go ahead and suggest that driving a 4500lb vehicle at 55mph can be considered hurtling.

Dealer manual, a Rand McNally map because they rock, and my phone. Maybe a bunch of groceries if I’ve been to the store.

I can’t stand a car with junk in it.

I just discovered merger documents in the console of my convertible: they are made out with “Jet Blue” in one place. The other is blank.

What, always? :boggled: That makes your car more prone to break-ins.

I never thought of this, but I might be suspected of being a serial killer, because of the supplies I have for work, but if I showed them my business card, maybe not. I'm a property manager.

1. zip ties
2. large construction garbage bags
3. Costco yellow micro cloths
4. bleach
5. hydroperoxide
6. cleaning products
7. hammer
8. shovel
9. pick
10. plastic drop cloths
11. disposable gloves

the rest probably would clear me

10. rake
11. blower
12. tool chest
13. paper towels
14. toilet paper
15. work gloves

Well, he didn't say laptop. A full desktop is a bit more awkward to run off with.
