Bloomberg Schools Dems With New Campaign Ad

Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:44 am

With all the dollars going to consultants and campaign strategists, every Democrat campaign must be kicking themselves after Bloomberg’s simple and effective ad dropped today.

https://twitter.com/mikebloomberg/statu ... 04897?s=21

As many analysts have said, this election is as much about the state of things as a referendum on what the POTUS office still means to Americans.

Consultants, strategists etc. they all can give out mumbo jumbo - but a politician would be better off following this simple communications strategy:

Oh my! finally! someone is using his bullshit against him. I so looked forward to this madman being compared to someone who is diplomatic and acts like a Gentleman. Show his florid face and use his words and actions as is shown on this link. It is about time to compare him to people who care about this country and the office, not this egotistical madman,

I do not care for Blloomberg at all. I will hold my nose and vote for him if he is the Democratic nominee. This is genius. Using Republicans to counter their own grade school bully.

I can't stop watching that ad Which is unheard of for me. I can't stand political commercials.

Bloomberg just had a great ad without any bit of him even in it. Wow!

Meh. I'm already not voting for Trump. But why should I vote for Bloomberg?

I've been saying it a lot lately, I think people need to see what the Democrats stand for and how they're gonna lead instead of stating the obvious (how ridiculous Trump is)

That is certainly a relevant concern for some voters, but messaging like this is definitely targeted at the elderly and suburban women in swing states. It need not be seen through purely a ‘vote for Bloomberg’ prism.

The other dems will be fine with this ad, it helps them too.

Bloomberg is another Hillary, and also another billionaire, and also another very old white guy, him vs Trump is not exciting at all.

Let's just hope that Bloomberg keeps his pledge to help Democrats even if he doesn't win the nomination. Ads like this are what we need.

"The other guy is brash" isn't really a compelling argument. You can be the nicest guy in the world but have horrible policy proposals, and if that is the case you'll likely lose.

'Brash' was never mentioned - the argument was conduct and speech beneath/unbecoming of the office. Anybody can see that....if their eyes are open.

"Unbecoming of the office", really? what did the Madame Speaker did last week? So are we still going to play the 'we are the grown ups card'?

This ad is waste of money, everyone knows how is Trump, these types of "Trump is bad" ads were played like crazy in 2016, and yet he won.

Keep making the election about Trump and he will win.

Yes, let's talk about the Republican administration:

No affordable health care plan
Mexico never paid for the stupid vanity wall, part of which blew over
Growing debt
Growing deficit
Low wage, part time jobs are pretty much the only ones available
What about the REAL unemployment rate?
Takes almost every weekend off to golf and over charges We The People for it
Our allies are leaving us

And there is still the FACTS that:

His airline went bankrupt
His casino went bankrupt
His vodka company went bankrupt
His college went bankrupt AND he was force to pay millions in a lawsuit settlement which makes him a BIG LOSER
He is now allowed to run any charities because of money laundering
He bribed a hooker to stay quiet with funds that were in no way to be legally used for anything like that. Not that bribery was legal
He is not able to take loans from American banks, so he has to get secure loans from Russia through shady deals with European banks

Yes, let's talk about how he made America lose... er... "great" again....
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

No...we're watching conservatives clutch their pearls and pretend to be outraged by what Pelosi did while giving Trump a pass on similar behavior.

Because he was against an equally despised candidate. Let's not forget that a swing of about 80,000 votes in three states delivered him the presidency, and in those three states, he's not exactly polling above the water.

And now people have to reckon with a few things:
1. They took a chance in 2016. Did it work? Will they do it again?
2. Are any of the current Democratic contenders better than Hillary in that they can vote for them?
3. If they vote for him again, are they endorsing everything he stands for and has done that's contrary to their beliefs? We know evangelicals won't GAF since he's their vessel to ensure the new Gilead. But what about those moderates or those with a true conscience?

These are the kinds of ads Dems need to run. Perhaps one that shows a mom with a newborn while Trump is clutching Stormy.
Maybe one that shows Trump sending his kid off to private school while kids in public schools depend on teachers and PTA;'s bringing in supplies.

One that shows Trump's economy is actually worse than the growth under Obama.

One that shows how Republicans have blustered for 30 years on a "Conservative Plan" for healthcare, but have yet to actually present one. It has been 10 years since Obamacare passed.
One that shows how Trump wants to rollback Social Security and Medicaid.
One that shows how Trump attacks people that are Americans.
The list can continue.

However, these are all good , but the Dems do need a good candidate that can reach out.
Where ever you go, there you are.

The best way to show what a repulsive piece of garbage Trump is, is to simply play clips of him spewing his repugnant filth.

Unfortunately his most ardent supporters will just shrug it off with ‘I don’t care’.

The Dems need to attack Trump stronger and harder with ads like these. Treat the tw*t with the contempt he deserves.

This isn't the first time someone has tried using Trump's words against him. Hillary Clinton ran a very similar advertisement in 2016.

Again, is this ad news for even someone living under a rock? Who doesn't know that Trump says a lot of crazy things.

I disagree with almost all of yall. The Dems need LESS ads like this and more of why people should vote for them.

We need an inspiring leader for 2020, not another anti-Trump

We need to be among the most naive people, to actually think that people hold politicians to high regard, as really figures of high morals, respect and decorum, not corruptible and such. Even before Trump did the majority of its citizens actually had a positive opinion about their political leaders? Trump won because he was an outsider, a figure outside of Washington, that's why he won, people knew he was not going to be the political types that have molded this nation for decades. They knew he wasn't your normal nice face politician. So that's why despite showing that type of ads in 2016 he won.

If the Democrats can come up with a figure like him, they would win on a landslide. But they can't, they are too woke, to PC, look at the current field.

So I took a look, and thought about it for a day or so.

I think you are mostly right.

And I agree it is high time we act like we are paying attention. Things like this go a long way toward that end...

I will just add that this is also true. But, that can, in and of itself, be its own energizing property. Supporters will not just shrug it off, they will positively revel in it. There is something about trump's mud that is so irresistible to these types that they cannot simply enjoy it, they need to make as much noise in so doing as possible.

While that sort of pollution is unpleasant for its own obvious reasons, it has the value of not letting Americans forget what we are up against. I suspect we will be seeing more of things like this as the Primary Season winds down...

Man, I just love when people throw bullshit around about "the dignity of the office of the presidency" and crap like that. There is no dignity in the office of the presidency, none, or any other political office, for that matter. "The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" had it right, anyone who actively seeks political power should automatically be disqualified from getting anywhere near any position of power.

The ideal system for electing officials is a random draw, or if that does not work completely open elections, where someone could nominate anyone they wanted (with the understanding that actually campaigning for an open position would be an immediate disqualifier). Until that happens, term limits or refusing to vote for any politician (career or otherwise) will have to do.

"Bloomberg schools Democrats with ads" yet days later "high morals, decency" Bloomberg is on a tape talking to the liberal elite about Stop and frisk back in 2015.

“Ninety-five percent of your murders — murderers and murder victims — fit one M.O. You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass it out to all the cops,” Bloomberg can be heard saying in the clip.

“They are male minorities, 16 to 25. That’s true in New York. That’s true in virtually every city,” the clip continues. “And that’s where the real crime is. You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed.”

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/02/1 ... lip-113902

I am sure this clip of Bloomberg will play on an ad, if its not already out.
