Today in Ansonia, Connecticut

Tue Feb 11, 2020 11:13 am

I mailed my BankAmericard Visa payment from the NRHP-listed Beaux Arts-style post office.

By my count it is the 14th NRHP-listed post office I have utilized, the second Beaux Arts one (after Somersworth, New Hampshire, and the first working post office I have visited in the Constitution State.

Good post office.
Pancakes are delicious.

Beautiful building. Better than our satellite office just a few blocks from my home, sandwiched between a dive bar (what dive bars used to be, not what hipsters call "dive bar" these days) and a bait and tackle shop.

I still have the goal of visiting every courthouse and capital in the United States. There is something fascinating about the architecture and planning of those buildings. College and university campuses are interesting, too, for their mix of styles. Especially here in the West.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

Not sure what your point is but I think it might have something to do with this, although I thought this practice was less popular after the Credit Card Act of 2009 was passed. Banks would frequently change their payments mailing address in hopes someone not using the payment stub but who writes their account number on the check and addresses their own envelope instead will rely on their now outdated notes. The forwarding will trigger a late payment and therefore late fee and possibly and hopefully a change in the APR to 29.9% or higher since people who can't afford to pay on time the bank considers such high risk

I was wrong about the Somersworth post office being Beaux Arts; it's actually Georgian Revival. For Beaux Arts post offices on the NRHP in New Hampshire, I must have been thinking of Laconia.

Which rhymes with Ansonia, so (I have decided) that just proves me to have been right all along.

Just now I mailed my car payment from the post office in Cohasset, Massachusetts.

So... that happened, too.
