Years ago, for an AFD joke, I posted on a board that Emirates had canceled its entire A350 order at the time, and reduced its A380 commitment. Who would have thought the joke was not gonna remain one for long...

I was never big on it but my (now) wife and her mother had gotten in a badly descending war of topping each others previous AFD "joke"... to the point that one year the joke was that my wife's dog had gotten loose and was in danger, then the next year the prank on her mother was that the home heater she'd just replaced had a defect, at risk of leaking gas etc. and so couldn't be used... during a really bad cold spell. These were done utilizing outside help that made it as real as possible. It was going a very wrong direction. (I was both impressed and "WTF?!")

Happily I proposed to her on March 31 (yes, folks that is today) which broke the cycle and when we married the following year on April 1st that put a convenient end it all. :kiss2:

Wow, some people managed to wait until the 4th post to get political in a non-political thread.

Can't everyone just keep their noise holes shut and leave politics out of what could have been a fun thread?

BA announce direct to SYD/MEL Summer 2023

Wed Apr 01, 2020 7:42 am

BA have just put an announcement on their website that they have placed an order with airbus for 5 A350-1000 with what appear to be the same improvements that QF were looking at for the sunrise jets to fly direct SYD/MEL. They believe after the COVID19 that people would rather miss the connection if possible.

Poor timing and taste given most of BA's workforce are under unpaid leave with the loom of job loss and uncertainty a daily burden. No airline would be announcing new ultra long haul routes and aircraft orders on an April 1 Fools Day and especially not in times like this.

Surprised you want to see people's "pride" taken away from them in such difficult times. I hate these April Fools threads on here each year - they are so obviously not real announcements and this year it just doesn't feel right. We aren't in a school playground.

Poor Form.

What a bloody stupid thread!

Aprils fools day clearly isn't about telling jokes, that's called 'Every Day'. April fools day is about tricking people into making them think something is true when it isnt, you cannot possibly expect people to be fooled when you direct them to the actual place calling it the April fools day thread.

Are we to assume that we need a thread for all the little precious people who don't like to have fun.

This place is getting so fussy about being protective and hurting peoples feels.

When My wifes on the Furlough I pick her up!

No she doesn't mind jokes because they are jokes......and she doesn't measure her enjoyment of life as a comparative of someone elses demise and would not expect the other way.

Tell me, when did the requirement to have fun depend on a job?

My favorite Aprils Fool dates back to the 1970s.

The town where I was stationed in the US had two local television stations. Their 6 to 8 am news programs were 'competitive'.

That April 1, the entire on-air crews swapped. The Channel 3 people were in the Channel 12 studio, wearing the Channel 12 jackets and vice versa. A lot of very confused people that morning, and the whole community enjoyed the joke, once we figured out that our televisions and minds had not gone completely crazy.
Not all who wander are lost.

It’s not a feature. It is failure to engineer proper grounding, or installing a 5 cent bypass capacitor in one of the circuits. :old:

my husband a diabetic and not suppose to have cookies.

my kids and I did an annual joke on my husband, We would take his stash of Oreo cookies he hid from us, in his secret hiding place, and replace the middle of the oreo with a minty toothpaste. We thought he would catch on immediately eating toothpaste. He never did.

we continued, each year doing this thinking he would eventually catch on.

I would kiss him and taste the minty fresh toothpaste, and chuckle, the kids would hug him and smell the toothpaste they would start to laugh. It was funny at the time. The kids finally told him, when they left home. He swears he couldn't tell the difference. So i guess the joke was on us.
