Construction work on the 77 floor One Vanderbilt Tower in New York City is continuing forward despite a state ordered ban on non essential construction work. Construction workers are doing finishing touches on the 1,401 foot tall tower's angular crown and the project features sheer blue glass walls and is topped by a stepped cap marked by angled roof lines. A 100 foot tall spire that has yet to be put in place will be included and a three story observation deck called The Summit is also included in the project. One Vanderbilt will become the fourth tallest building in the city and will house mostly office space with an 11,000 square foot restaurant also planned. The tower is slated to open on August 4, 2020 and is poised to become the next great and iconic skyscraper for New York because of it's interesting shape.

My company was supposed to move into the building in November - they started work on our floor earlier in the year, pre-Coronavirus, but not sure where that stands now. Once composites realize they can do a lot of work from home, I wonder if the needs for space will be the same.

Not actually sure, frankly. We haven't been told much about our new arrangements.

That sums it up nicely. Still, it looks nicer than the giant silver matchstick stuck in the ground facing Central Park.
They're continuing work on it because all that steel in the frame needs to be protected against the elements and the exterior of the building "buttoned up" before fall.

The observation deck is not due to open until 2021 anyway.
