..and the majority in this country has a documented history of never 'extending' your type of respect to everyone unlike you. Sure there were/are exceptions, those were the weathy ones, sports figures (like them in the ring, on the field, on tv...but on the street, treat them like crap ask the Seattle Seahawks player about Vegas. Seek out Jesse Owens delivering a crushing blow to Hitler's face in the 1936 Olympics. Mohammed Ali, striped of his title, jailed for refusing to fight for a country that never protected his family his kind from centuries of state-sanctioned brutality and terror.
The list goes 400 years back..a lot to be explored for those without a clue.
extender wrote:In the last month, how many videos have surfaced of bystanders getting clocked with a skateboard or having crap thrown all over them?
Yes, well recording devices are pervasive now aren't they?
All those things existed in America before, fewer instant cameras then add to that those who wish to be known as YT famous by doing something stupid.
extender wrote:The mob mentality, without fear because they have the numbers; commit heinous crimes and that is acceptable..
The criminal element within society aren't going sit at home because of Coronavirus...esp. when their most opportune time to strike is hiding among the much larger number of peaceful protesters.
Respect the difference between violent criminal elements instead of looping them all into one group.
Add up every single dollar ever stolen since every riot or period of unrest...and measure that tally to the amount every slick, well dressed briefcase carrying Wall Streeter or CEO who has skirted the law on technicalities and walked with trillions from robber barons, war profiteers, criminal legal corporations with impunity....and they are doing now in every nation to this very day, American business and legal system taught them well. Corporate raiders have destroyed the lives of many dedicated employees of airlines, banks, manufacturing companies, etc.
But don't let that stop you from being high-blood pressure mad at a kid smashing a window and stealing sneakers or a poor single mom stealing food and diapers for her kids.
Now between the two, which can be replaced...and which cannot? Respect FACTS.
extender wrote:Until these protestors that insist in violence start getting a dose of medicine, they won't change.
The violent always find themselves amid more violence than they can handle...eventually. Respect would certainly whip them into shape and prevent their violent end when it comes.
But evil is in our DNA, some more than others like the Brit kid 18yo Jonty Bravery tossing a 6yo child from a 10-story building. Where did his respect for that boy's life go?
extender wrote:When they start blocking streets and highways, and they become speed bumps, I will cheer. They can protest peacefully, but blocking traffic isn't it. .
Ahhh...the true source of anxiety, delaying and disrupting your daily routine..well you're not the only one inconvenienced by people calling for a just society - NOW.
Glad you can fill your belly and sleep with a smile on your face at the sight of people getting mowed down in the streets - oh yeah, respect.
extender wrote:So in a nutshell, George Floyd didn't deserve to die like he did. but make no mistake about about it, George Floyd was not a nice man. Rayshard Brooks, was not a nice man either, but he did something stupid. .
None did anything deserving public execution, I'm 100% certain people in each of our lives a friend, relative, relation meets your 'bad/stupid people' standard with ease. If not, you simply don't know them as well as you think you do.
extender wrote:You may not like cops, but you need cops.
Yes, we MUST police ourselves.. that is sheer logic. The dolphins can't police us and we sure don want lions and bears doing it. We MUST...with Respect.
.Police are us and We are them. By their having extra-ordinary granted powers, their 'bad apples' should always be above the conduct of societies bad apples.
extender wrote:They are empowered by the government to enforce the laws. And like all segments of society, there are bad apples. .
And the history of those powers are detailed to the letter in the book posted above which you have not read or heard of judging by the comments on this subject.
Said history runs 400 years long and is not pretty at all. In fact it's a shameful history drowning in unspeakable acts of horror and injustice.
The United States has a longer life as a slave nation than it has time as a free nation ..and even as a free nation is not always free for everyone.
One post in this thread suggested 'Blacks should learn to do things right'..with no support on how to erase your slave-mentality and denied education, they survived and slowly moved ahead and during the ascendancy of the Ku Klux Klan, prosperous black communities across America were wiped out, bombed with planes, homes and bodies burned alive from angry financially burdened whites -
law enforcement led the way, assisted helped in many of those horrific criminal acts and the legal system looked the other way and even helped suppress and destroy evidence.
There was no Respect present for people minding their own business and keeping to them selves, they played by the rules and were slaughtered without regret.

Yep, exactly what they said that after every MLK protest and march and every large scale act of civil unrest in American history...can't Respect undelivered promises.
This time, to those who've paid attention, who've lived or seen some of this American life, this time things may finally change...I myself have seen sights and signs never seen before in America's dark history. Many who want hang on to America's dark history, like the Confederacy do not want change anything, even that embarrassing Past. They found Pride it...no Respect to be found in that crowd.
extender wrote:...for the better, but this will happen again, because some idiot, thinks he doesn't have to listen to the police.
Well,if only some guy didn't listen to the Police (untrue in your saw the Floyd video and the 45 mins Rashard Brooks, inebriated stood for 45mins co-operating, they were screwing with him and in no way were determined to 'help' a drunk man, so perhaps...just perhaps, if the Floyd killers had treated George with a little respect, treat him like any white man...he'd be alive today.
If the Rashard Brooks was treated like drunk white man...he'd be living today. Some here cannot see that in brilliant sunlight and their set minds will never allow it. They say 'Respect'...but your understanding may not mean the same as theirs.
I wonder, if search the term Kaepernick here among the threads..just how many Disrespectful comments against a man who led a peaceful protest about this very thread topic, how many found hin disrespectful for his peaceful protest. Now that a real and lasting protest is at hand...suddenly, a peaceful respectful form of protest is now appreciated. I wonder.
Respect, some claim to know it's meaning, yet they don't respect America's true history good & bad (they are inseparable nonetheless), they love saying they respect our Troops and out of the other side of their mouth they rabidly support a dangerously flawed leader who has ZERO respect for our troops - and to them it makes perfect sense, cognizant dissonance if ever there were a case.
Respect, little for women (and their bodies), even less for gay people, other-sexuals period...as if anyone should have some 'say' in anothers' personal (legal) sex life. You own no such right.
Respect, so cheaply tossed about with zero value because the intent was never sincere to begin with.
