38-year-old deputy killed, 2 officers injured after ambush in Santa Cruz County

Sun Jun 07, 2020 7:01 am

A Santa Cruz County deputy was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon, Sheriff Jim Hart said in a press conference Saturday evening.

The suspect needs to be put down.

There is no mercy for this kind of blatant taking of life.

Perhaps they should have a trial first.

Curious that he is either White or Latino rather than black.

Also an active duty Sgt at Travis AFB.

So no due process then? Let's just lynch him, save some taxpayers dollars.

It’s “suspects” (note suspect not convicted criminals) being “put down” without “mercy” which is why the US is in this mess to begin with.

99.9% of protesters aren’t “lynching” anyone. When some media sources paint all protesters as violent it is a deliberate smear job to obfuscate their message

Yeah right, like the completely unfounded claim that the US policeforce is racist, hunting and killing unarmed blacks because of racial bias.
And all because of a single, very unfortunate and very rare case.

I see the irony.

IED's? 'Bomb making equipment'?
Sounds like a wannabe terrorist and active in the military.
Sorry to upset all those gagging for this to be the mythical 'antifa' or bunch of minorities taking their anger at bad cops a stage way further but it does highlight the stark fact, which though the FBI acknowledges it, the Trumpists won't, that home grown terrorism is the main threat. If it was that, or was he planning a workplace massacre? Might well be the latter.
Remember the one at a US Army base in 2009 I think?

It also highlights the that law enforcement has more to fear from them than either 'normal' criminals much less demonstrators.
The murder of this officer happened in a quiet town, not the inner city. Much less at a demo.

Glad the perp has been caught, the trial will be illuminating and if he has associates a source of intel in questioning prior to trial. Though if he is just insane or bitter likely he might not have any.

To me as well sounds like a terrorist. Now they have to find the background of it and work out if he was just alone or if he was with others we don’t yet know about.

Ben Loman always has been a breeding ground for kooks going back to the 60's. No surprise here so just keep on moving along and let justice takes its course. A little scary to think this guy was an active duty USAF member over at Travis with access to all kinds of materials.

You don't put down a suspect. Plenty of innocent people are suspected as part of an investigation.

1. Why is it curious that he isn't Black? There are plenty of criminals of all colors.
2.White and Latino (Hispanic) aren't mutually exclusive. It seems that generally, the longer their families (generations) have been in the US, the more that they just consider themselves White.
What I find really curious is the anonymous call to the police saying they saw guns and bombmaking material in a vehicle. You'd have to be very close to observe something like that. That leads me to believe one of 3 things.
1. The police had an informant who called them.
2. The suspect(s) had a coconspirator who got cold feet and called them.
3, It was a setup by the suspects who wanted the police to come.

that would be ironic,I doubt anybody thinks the entire police force is racists. but you knew that.

Had the police force be defunded or abolished in Santa Cruz, then there would not have been a deputy killed as there would not have been a deputy in the first place.

The remaining 0.1% is still a considerable number, and will suffice.

Just like the same percentage of bad cops make the rest look bad by association. Also, since they are part of the same organization, it should be easier for cops to police other cops than for a bunch of individuals at a protest to police each other.

And let's not make any mistake that the "protestors" are terrorists, quite possibly from African lands or Middle East ( as well as our best and brightest from our liberal college machine) and let's not think blm doesn't turn their head. What is happening in this country is a hijacking of our democracy, all in the guise of systemic racism. Long live law enforcement!

Do you really think he was going for a "deputy" or the object scapegoated by blm? My point being that a criminal is weak minded and will channel that sickness through any filter of whatever is happening at current events. That killer is a threat to ANY replication of law and order.

As an update, two murders, of the Deputy and the Security Officer, same people. One group and organised.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6hfTW0E8M

Part of a far right group, whose avowed intention is to stir up racial violence, hence the targets whose deaths they believed would be blamed on BLM.
As the FBI have said, even if Trump and his minions refuse to hear it, groups like this are the main domestic terror threat.
Even this bunch with their 21st Century update of Charles Manson style 'Helter Skelter ramblings.

Easy to see who would be piling in had these people been murdered by African Americans.
Now it's clear they are a far right race hate fringe......not so much.
What's it going to take, another Oklahoma?
