I always said I would laugh if there was a massive cell phone outage. It would be fun to see all the panicked people without service, but damnit, Ihave sit in my house waiting to get back to work.

Meanwhile I've left my phone stuck in the seat of my car for 4 days before and not noticed.

I think until 3 months ago my three year old phone had less than two hours of use, now it gets 40 hours per week. I thought it was just tired.

In the DMV area I've confirmed Verizon, Sprint, and MetroPCS networks are down for voice calls. Texting still works, and of course WiFi apps do (WhatsApp).

Google Fi for the win, didn't even notice there was an issue.

Looks like Verizon is back, but some people that I know who don't have Verizon...their incoming calls are going straight to voicemail.

I use Visible Wireless (uses Verizon towers) and they are fully up and running. <- great value btw, $25/mo unlimited everything (including hotspot)
T-Mobile (which I also use via eSim) seems to still be having issues.

Did some conspiracy theorists burn down some towers ? Or left wing activists cut fibres to prevent people teleworking and screw the economy ? Yes, both happened in France during the lockdown...

Agreed, it was likely a bit of network infrastructure made cheaply in China that failed.

Depending on where you're at, Google Fi still relies on either Sprint or T-Mobile, so if either go down, so do you. No different than saying "AT&T for the win".
