Praise you???

Not happening.

You're also still a noobie compared to me.

(Mine should read December 1998 but it got skewed by an error when I got added to the crew... The first time...)

been around since 1997? and you have been posting for 20 years. that quite an accomplishment, especially with all the rules here.
I actually like this site because of the rules. Though at first I was annoyed by them. now I think the rules are a good idea.

Sorry for going off topic here, but can anybody confirm for how much longer Northwest will operate the DC9?

My 1st thought after I saw the OP author.

A very different A.net from 20years ago, isn't it?

Everyone knows NW is an unsafe airline with their continued operation of the DC-9 and DC-10.

So how do the anniversaries work for a.net? I'll recommend the below but i can't figure out 10 years. And I'm thinking 15 is unnecessary.

5 years : in depth discussion in you honor on DC-9 retirements and why the 757 production line will be restarted

10 years :

20 years : a snow globe

25 years : in home visit by professional psychological team with properly fitted straight jacket and appropriately dosed psychoactive medication.

Oh, and congratulations GKIRK! Think of all the completed wasted hours that adds up to!

Please provide me with a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll get that snow globe of to you.

Me too.

Ever since the day I learnt about the 'Internet', I visited Airliners.net website on a daily basis.

As an 'Aviation Lover' and a 'Avid Plane Spotter', I'm ever so thankful for this website to have been 'Created And Still Live'.

There is no other website that I visit regularly, unlike Airliners.net. 8-)

In these 20 years, the quality of this website still remains the same, highest standards.

I wish to the entire 'Website Team' a 'Continuous Success'.

Wow, this thread is bringing out all the dinosaurs!

Here's my little homage to my first six years on a.net, which was nine years ago: viewtopic.php?t=1212595

It definitely was more risque 10+ years ago, but it was already pivoting towards the current standards.

My list of things I learned ended with "learning that lots of people spend waaaaay to much time watching FOX/MSN/CNN and listening to talk radio". How quaint that Twitter / Facebook / etc didn't even get a mention as another thing people spend waaaaaaaay too much time on.

I lurked for a year or two before I joined, and lurked on usenet m.t.a-i since the 90s (who needs Internet when you have uucp?) and I'm sure there's an empty cargo plane full of people who care to know this.

I beg to differ slightly. The database is obviously superb - but without the contributions of folks like SlamClick and 747skipper, for those of us who have been around ages, it just isn't the same.

Unfortunate that paid memberships aren't around anymore. Used to like coming to the non-aviation section for the various topics. Tried a few times recently to read some of the threads, seemed they were all political in nature.

There was no Trump in earlier times. The forums would have been worse if there was.

The threads raging against Clinton where quite epic as well. But back then i do believe there was more variety. Nowadays at least half the threads are about US politics, with several more de-railing towards US politics as time goes on. Back then there was still room for non-political discussions, with enough people interested to keep the non-political stuff going.

About as long as it will take Boeing to make new 757 tooling.

I think I've been visiting around 18 years, just never signed up until a few years ago. Its certainly changed.

The days of FLairport and his snow globe, and Superfly and his travel exploits are long gone.

Along with the infamous ANC Flyer. :eyebrow:

I was just thinking about those "Would you hit it" threads the other day! Used to love the "dream fleet" threads along with of course, the NWA DC-9 and 757 restart threads.

I'm fuzzy on the actual dates but I think I'm past the 20 mark myself, or close to it. My profile states I joined in 2007, but I was granted a name change by Johan at that time. Formerly known as Boeing Nut.
