Little Ceasars Employee Fired for Swastika on Pizza

Tue Jun 30, 2020 5:10 am

Two Little Ceasars employees in Ohio were fired after an Ohio couple found a swastika shaped topping for pepperoni pizza. It is a sign that discrimination is not tolerated, but this symbol is also a religious one in a number of Asian countries. How do you feel about this.

Boss really had no choice based on what I read, the two admitted to doing it but did say it wasn't supposed to go out as it was 'just a joke' between them, not a funny joke if you ask me.

My first thought as well
Instead of typing in "mods", consider using the report function.
Love how every "travel blogger" says they will never fly AA/Ethihad again and then says it again and again on subsequent flights.

And they are rightfully fired - a job is a job and is certainly not a place for "jokes" anyway.

Well, unless you are a comedian.

And in the comedian Aziz's case, it was pretty funny

The swastika is also a religious symbol in a number of Asian countries and existed long before the Nazi Party.

I actually didn't watch that clip initially.

After watching it, yep, the two guys are definitely Aziz Ansari fan.

And in those Asian countries this might have been acceptable.

In a western nation where the Nazi connection is the overriding one, not so much.

Do you really think that's what came to mind for two bored pizza guys in Ohio? No, in 2020, 99.9% of the time the swastika means either Nazi, or edgy dumbass.

True but a canted version (essp if used with in a circle) was used by Hitler and the National Socialist Workers Party and is now almost always related to that parties ideology and action, also the two goobers who did this didn't even try and claim they were using it in another context.

In the United States, the symbol is also associated with white supremacist groups, which are racist organizations. Also, had the workers made such a pizza in a country like Germany, would they have been sent to prison as well?

Worst case? Three years in prison plus los of voting rights. But this would likely be under " If the degree of guilt is minor, the court may dispense with imposing a penalty under this provision."

Even if used in a religious context it would be offensive to tons of people, while not all Buddhists are vegetarians, all jains certainly are. Maybe it's even beef salami.....
