We had a Sonoma with a tool box and the Tacoma has a shell. I get it. If we need lumber or a chair or something large like that, they are great. We've just installed a new set of tires and parts from 4Wheelonline on uncle's 2000 Tacoma. That thing is really tough!

My town consists of 80% pick -ups and I would say 60% of those are for contractors, business etc. Out of the 8 guys I work with 6 have trucks, they all hunt and have ATV's and Boats. I can't stand them, but when I need to get a set of patio stones I borrow one as I could not get 14 of them in my Civic

With our line of hobby and work of hauling stuff, we can't live without truck.

I can feel the difference between a loaded an unloaded Tacoma but it is so nice either way. The Sonoma involved thought and calculations. I have a bone to pick with Toyota because of the lemon they sold me (Corolla) but the Tacoma is a solid vehicle.

Wow! Half the town (48%) must be populated by plumbers, electricians, carpenters and furniture restorers.
Don't you have any office workers at all? Or Real Estate agencies, attorneys, town council offices, school teachers. Or accountants to service all those busy tradespeople? How do the supermarket workers get to work, or do they all live over the shop?
Where I live, barely three people in 50 are involved in a hands-on business requiring the transport of large objects.

Now that is an entirely sensible use of resources.
Better still, get the builders merchant to deliver your goods on a pallet using a proper truck with a grab lift.
But failing that, shared use of a pick-up truck is good. For one thing, it entirely squashes the BS status, and turns it back into a working vehicle, not a life-style statement.

I got to admit I gave the Toyota, Nissan and Chevy pick ups their day in court before I bought my F150 and I have to say the runner up was the Tacoma it's a solid truck.

Is anyone using a pickup with tractor tires in the NE?

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration on the 80%
And Yes to all those questions, in fact I am a trades-person and end up having to repair a lot of said trucks including some that belong to all of the above. We have a work pick up at work for plowing in winter and that can be borrowed.
As far as getting stuff delivered, I live out of town so it costs more. The stones were taken from my father in-law, and he does not own a truck.
We also have the railway and alot of drilling and mining companies around, all trucks. It just seems to be the thing to have here, just not for me.
