I would like to know, what are your favorite pens for writing?

My favorites are the Pentel EnerGel RTX and Pearl series. They write very well. I have the RTX with black ink/pink barrel, the RTX with red ink, as well as the Pearl with pink ink. The RTX and Pearl are almost identical, except the Pearl have a white pearlescent barrel/grip (most RTX series have a silver barrel with a colored grip, although my black RTX series has a pink barrel and grip).

I have noticed that any gel pen writes smoothly. Something about that scraping with ink on paper drives me up the wall. I grab what pen I have and it is usually gel. Sometimes I get a Bic Stic pen and that one is almost as good a gel.

We have people come into the store looking for gel pens. For some reason, drug addicts prefer gel pens over ink. I heard a theory that it is a higher melting point of the gel tube vs. the ink tube to fix their drug. I am not sure how true that is. I feel bad for these people. Get help. There are avenues out. You can get better.

I like the Uni Signo 207's. Also good is Uni Jetstream - Alpha Gel Grip Series. This one feels good in the hand and writes nicely.

I keep a diabetic health diary, and most pens don't write well on those little spiral notebooks if there is the slightest amount of oil on the page, but here is the one that always works. BiC Clic Stic. Not otherwise my favorite pen.

Whatever is handy, mostly Pilot G2s.

I really like the ones that I take for free by accident from stores.

I have been using the Papermate Flexgrip for years now, feels great in the hand and ink flow is never a problem.

Pilot G2 (07). When I find a pen that doesn't smear, I tend to stick with it.

I use a Parker at work.

I was at Staples yesterday and went with a cheap ball point for work. I may try gel soon.

Oh-oh, you just asked the wrong question. I'm a fountain pen maven. I try not to be a collector but I've amassed some lovely fountain pens. I've got a Krone, a Namiki Vanishing Point, a Sailor, a Platinum, a Conway Stewart, two Dunhills, an Aurora...and the list goes on.

I love to write in journals and I loved to write letters and cards to those I love. I've finally reached the ripe old age where I've developed arthritis in my thumbs, so my handwriting - which used to be artful - isn't as good as it once was.

I also love good paper, as a fountain pen deserves a robust page to do its magic. I've found a few French and Swiss paper makers and I grab lots of supplies when I'm visiting Europe. But my American standbys are Rhodia and of course, Moleskin.

For many years now, I have used the PILOT G-2 (10) Premium Gel Roller in Black and BOLD 1.0mm - Made in Japan.

I used to be able to buy the refills at Wal-Mart, but lately all they support is the fine print in refills, which I would never use, unless I was writing on carbon paper.

Pilot G2 are amazing. 1.0mm is a fat ink that actually looks good for people with poor motor control like me. 0.7mm is a little easier to deal with, but does not look as pretty.

My go to is the thin barrel Uni Jetstream 101 12/pack for around $12. I'm a lefty so I prefer ball-point over gel.

The problem with gel pens is that they smear if the paper gets wet. Ball points, not so much.

Don’t really use a pen anymore... I do most with apple pencil and if I’m going into a factory ( I work in food processing) I take a factory issue pen that I sign out.

Back when I was writing on paper I’d tend to use a cross self propelling pencil.

For a fountain pen my normal stand by is Parker (have used different ones for over 45 years) but for ball point I use a mixture of Zebra or the MTAP tactical pen with Fisher refills.

I am the sort of person who if anyone asks to borrow a pen will have a stash of cheap Bics available to hand out. My pens are for me alone to use having lost too many over the years!

Writing is certainly an art that is being lost at present and I encourage my daughters to practice as much as possible with as decent a pen as they are comfortable with.

I have a Cross which I was given by a customer and a MontBlanc Starwalker refine, I don’t write a lot but having a nice pen to sign a contract with looks good.

Related to all this is the disappearance of cursive. I, like lot of others, find myself doing a bastard print/cursive whenever writing something longer. We have friends who write occasionally in beautiful cursive, it is always a delight the look at and read. Makes me feel guilty.

Yeah... I can't really read cursive and for sure cannot write it.

Pilot G-2 07 in blue. I never like writing/signing with black; blue confirms it's an original document. Given Covid, I've gotten used to carrying one with me at all times. Only problem is the kind of paper it's used on; for receipt paper, the ink may never dry so it's easy to smudge.

I also carry a Sharpie fine tip marker with me for the jobs that require a pen that doesn't run AND whose ink actually dries.

In school, in 7th grade, we were allowed to use pens to write on our notebooks so we used Bic ballpoint pens...those suckers dried out so fast, we had to buy multiple boxes. In 10th grade, I switch to writing with pencil and have done so ever since.

Muji has some really good gel pens, write amazingly smooth and the ink dries right away, cost about a buck each.

I bought a box of Fengtaiyuan gel pens off Amazon a while back, they're quite good as well.

I find I’m writing less and less with a pen or pencil because we’ve gone paperless at work for years already.

I used to write with a fountain pen but not so much anymore.

I just use whatever cheap pens they have in the stationary cupboard at work now. Must say they’ve actually got quite decent smooth writing pens.

Edit: they are Pilot G2 - great pens.

I bought the Paper mate profile ball the other day, no frills works I guess.

I personally like a pen with a stylus, and a pen light, as well as ink.

If I could get a tracking tag attached to it so I could find it with a tracking ap from my cellular mobile phone, I would like it even more.

EVERYthing needs to be tracked for data purposes so we relinquish our freedom and control in the MATRIX entirely.

Also a lefthanded undie. Like to write with a “fat” fountain pen with a fine tip.

I'm an abovie leftie! People always remark that I write in a weird way.

As to pen preferences, I like the Pilot Hi-Tecpoint V7. There are a few similar ones - from Uni, for example and one or two others - that I like.

However, my absolute favourite is the Schneider One Business, which writes so effortlessly. It's about €4, here in Ireland, and not a lot of places stock them (though they are available on Amazon). I do write quite a lot, so "least resistance" is a factor; there's no smearing at all (always a problem for lefties, I find).
