Removal of Confederate Monuement in Memphis Completed

Thu Jun 03, 2021 12:51 am

This topic warrants it's own seperate thread due to the political nature of this topic. On the night of December 20, 2017, the statue of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was removed from a public park in Memphis, Tennessee. Nearly four years later, crews removed the pedestal that supported the statue. The statue, along with the remains of Confederate General Forrest will be moved to a museum in Columbia, Tennessee. It will be interesting to see how all this turns out.

Have you ever seen this monument in person? What are your feelings about this monument being removed. How do you feel this will turn out?

Removing mementos of the past changes history. Right or wrong? If wrong, what is achieved?

These monuments were made to change history, rather. Today the history is well known, only people with delusions cling to confederate stuff.

That is an interesting idea. Presumably the general concerned was an invention.

What is delusional about remembering someone from the past?

The only delusion is thinking that certain people from the past need to be remembered

Lionizing traitors is unusual.

I'm for the confederate statues being taken down, as they represent traitors to the union. I draw the line at statues of presidents/actual heroes being taken down because they didn't tow the SJW line 100%.
