Louie Gohmert's idea to fix climate

Thu Jun 10, 2021 4:19 pm

You can't make this up - every time I think he's the dumbest S.O.B. ever to hold office, he comes up with something even more ridiculous

Even if we *could* reposition the moon, why would the USFS or USBLM be doing it?

I believe Magneto once attempted to shift the Earth's axis - the X-Men stopped him from doing that.

I'll give him a pass on the BLM acronym, but can't help if that was tongue-in-cheek on his part.

He has a lot of really tough competition for that title

People used to be ashamed of their ignorance and tried to cover it up. Now, they seem to embrace it and be proud of it.

Superman was able to spin the earth in reverse to save the hoover dam and Lois Lane. Where is he at in all of this? These are the questions Louis Gohmert should be asking. Maybe General Zod is controlling Gohmert from Houston.

What got me is him asking if we could change the orbit of the Earth or Moon. Presumably to cool the planet.

Just as well he is not in a position to do so.

Should I consider myself lucky not knowing who this person is, and refrain from making any effort to remedy that situation?

Haha well played, Maverick

And yeah the whole changing orbits thing is a bit scary...like in the sense that this guy has absolutely no idea the scale he is talking. He clearly has done zero back-of-the-envelope calculations, and just made something up. I mean I'm not asking for XKCD level of depth here, but a quick google shows our unit of measurement of energy required will be in total sun output/hour here..other units of measurement simply are too small.

Just imagine thinking "nope, addressing climate change by switching to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal is way too hard, let's adjust some interplanetary orbits instead. That will be much cheaper/easier". :banghead:

Indeed he did. And that was also an elected position, which says way more about that electorate than most of us care to know.

This is pretty much all you need to know about him:

"Gohmert is an East Texas native who grew up in Mount Pleasant, graduated from Texas A&M University and Baylor Law School. His constitutional law professor, David Guinn, said Gohmert often tied his legal views to early American history and remembered the Congressman as one of his most conservative students.

'He was about 32 degrees to the right of Attila the Hun, and he hasn’t changed much,' Guinn said. 'He took a very narrow construction of the Constitution, we’ll say it that way. He was not in favor of big government.'

A former captain in the U.S. Army, Gohmert was elected state district judge in Smith County in 1992. His first brush with national notoriety came in 1996, after imposing an unusual probation requirement on an auto thief. He ordered that the man, who was HIV positive, seek written consent — on a form the judge provided — from any future sexual partners."

Baylor is one of the most conservative law schools in the country. To hear one of their professors say he was one of his most conservative students is...scary.

Great movie and you’re right, its happening now, the great ‘dumbing down’ what’s sad is (and like ‘idiocracy’) that very ignorance is venerated, you’re more ‘down to earth’ if you’re ignorant

I will say that Dan Crenshaw is also a republican from Texas. No while I don't agree with him on much he is not an idiot by any means. Gohmert is just plain stupid.

It's got electrolytes, when they try agriculture with Gatorade. That is the only line I can think from from that movie.

Mike Judge is a genius for this movie and Office Space.
