For more background - this IMHO is ultimately an abuse of power (but then, HKgov had been doing that for awhile now) and also personal revenge just bc some of those worthless HK officials are being sanctioned (deservingly so) by US Govt right now. It is also a wait and see for some of the (much) smaller pro-Dem online-only media, such as Stand News, as the HKgov is willing to go totally nuts just for more control.
The bottom line is, if HKgov really think they can sway the opinion of people just by shutting down a newspaper, go ahead. At the end of the day they are still a total worthless govt that can't govern anything and is killing the city by minutes.
