Mike Lindell's Cyber Symposium

Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:46 pm

Not surprisingly, Mike Lindell's Cyber Symposium was a complete and utter waste of time. For those unfamiliar, this was a 3 day event he held in South Dakota that he touted as a grand unveiling of all the hard proof that China hacked our elections and switched millions of votes from Trump to Biden. He claimed to have been given something called packet captures that would clearly show how China got in and changed the votes. He also claimed that as a result of this event, the Supreme Court would take notice and be forced to nullify the results of the 2020 election and re-instate Trump as president.

Well, as you can imagine, this did not go well for him. Absolutely zero evidence was presented, instead he insisted that random lines of code he was scrolling 24/7 was the proof, though every expert in the world has pointed out that he was simply scrolling through nonsense. The event started late because he didn't know how to properly live-stream it (claimed it was an Antifa hack....) and ended early when he bolted off stage after news broke that the Dominion lawsuit against him was going to proceed. Crowds were light throughout the event, and thinned out even more as it became clear there was nothing to see. Even the experts that he personally invited and brought on stage said there was nothing in the evidence he presented to indicate there had been a hack of any kind.

Now, this should be something that we all, left and right, collectively laugh at and dismiss, but sadly, it isn't. Mike Lindell has thousands and thousands of people convinced that he is on to something that no-one else is. That means there are thousands and thousands of people who truly believe this current government is illegitimate and that is bad for democracy and bad for America.

There are lots of sources for this, but just to show I'm not putting a partisan slant on this, here is a source from the conservative Washington Times:

All of his shenanigans are just to sell more pillows and sheets. The media and public is falling for a typical snake oil salesman by giving him attention.

Lindell has bigger problems now because Dominion's defamation lawsuit against him and the other characters is now going forward:

Also it's pretty clear from any of his TV appearances that his mania is associated with stimulant drug abuse. Given his addiction history, there is little else to explain his bizarre behavior.

It's China now?
I thought it was Venezuela last time... and wasn't Italy somehow involved too at some point?

It feels like Lindell is on amounts of cocaine that would phase-shift a moose into another dimension.

I have no idea why anyone trusts a man who sells trash pillows and looks like the Uncle you keep the kids away from....

The media is barely covering it as the lunatic sideshow it is. The MAGA asylum, however, is eating it and everything like it up.

I mean that’s one of the things about current republicans in that they truly scrape the bottom of the barrel to find like-minded folks.

He's been interviewed on CNN multiple times in the last month.

Except they always surprise us by finding that those they find aren't exactly the bottom of the barrel. We thought Michelle Bachmann and Steve King were the peak loonies, but there are many others who make them look sane (MTG and Lauren Boebert, for example).

I think he said Italian satellites changed the votes or something like that. :rotfl:

if you believe his life story.....from facedown in an alley in Mexico to a businessman worth over a 100million (according to google search)...I just cant understand why he would throw everything away like he is doing. he was living a comfortable, respectable lifestyle of wealth and running a successful company, why throw this all away for a man who most likely laughs at him behind his back?

2/3rds of republicans are buying what he's selling, and it's not the pillows. Of course media is going to interview one of its main architects periodically.

According to Lindell, wasn't yesterday supposed to be "reinstatement day" or something? Because, you know.... reasons....

And the latest reason his symposium failed was.... selfies....

There's always an excuse. The party of accountability is fundamentally allergic to accountability. It plays out in every single sphere of life, especially with Covid:

State Rep. David Byrd needed a liver transplant after 55 days on a ventilator. Now he’s thanking the medical professionals who saved his life by battling mask and vaccine mandates.

If only it were just thousands and thousands. I’d say we’re more likely dealing with millions.
